Thoughts on trade value of Baily Williams?

Now I know he is looking very promising and could be the next star etc......and we'd be crazy to consider it. I get that.

But that also means he holds value. It seems the demand for ruck/forwards is at an all time high and lets just face it, we seem to do alright drafting and developing talls. It is something we are bloody good at and we have history in trading rucks in and out.

I haveno doubt clubs are enquiring about Williams. What would it take to agree to any trade?

On a side note there are a couple of promising rucks this draft that will go mid to late 2nd round or early 3rd.

What are you on about? We cant get established footballer because we cannot afford one and if we are fair dinkum, Williams is better then whoever pick 1 is in this draft, no questions asked.

Williams is about as untradeable as Oscar Allen. Pick 1 and extra would be your starting point which is never gonna happen, so why discuss it

No way we would trade Williams just for the trade value with a 31 yr old NN next year unless he requests a trade back home.
Considering rucks take a while to develop, why start from scratch again just for sake of it. Williams already looks like he'll be ready to go with another preseason and increased confidence.
Hickey and Vardy don't have long left whether or not they're on our list next year. Allen can't lead the ruck, while Jamieson is still an unknown quantity and looks like he'll take years to develop with his current size.
There are many more I would consider trading ahead of him.

Yeah you can't replace your #1 ruck when they retire with an 18 year old you pick up that year in the draft.

When NN retires Vardy and Hickey likely also won't be on the list, so we'll have Jamieson and Williams as our only rucks.

Not a need we need filled right now but certainly not worth trading our future away for at best a second rounder

So Cedric Cox.

With Watson cut and Jetta also uncontracted and looking half retired do we look at this guy as cover?

Quick rebounding defender.

Duggan to midfield next year.

Sigh.....and here I was thinking I explained that adequately.

And if a club offered him greater opportunity and more $$$ he would seriously consider it wouldnt he?

So again, what would someone need to offer to appease us?

Would you trade Williams for Clark at Geelong?
Im pretty sure you've noticed but drafting and developing talls does not seem to be an issue for us. Why not start drafting, developing and trading talls for players we somehow cant seem to draft nor develop?

You look at the rucks in the AFL and after about 5-6 they all become very similar quality wise. And lets just look at the two teams playing off in the GF. Not a single top 10 ruck in the comp among them. We won a flag with two half decent rucks. Hawthorn the same.

You would not trade Williams for pick 1.

That pretty much confirms you have NFI mate.

Anyone else who wouldnt trade Bailey for pick 1? Anyone?

Sigh ....... Sponsors responsibility to take care of his Boy.

Hence the hands off.

Also to answer you question a quality starting 22 or a first rounder and a second round upgrade.

Kids going to be a very good 250 game player . Value him highly.

Damn fine question...I'll get back to you! ((;
Just stop doing them, rushing those behinds!
Makes it more exciting, nervewracking..
Or you could keep rushed behinds, because there's no doubt over them, no score reviews.
But rushed behinds are another inconsistency within the game, should be a (own) goal in theory?
But if anyone touches the ball after a kick and cant stop it, it's a goal.
If it scrapes the post but goes in, it's a goal. Same for a point.

And we could make the ball round, so it's easier to track on the VAR to see if it is over the line.
And stop players picking it up so there is no more incorrect disposal.

Can we please just apply the rules in a better and more consistent way rather than try to reshape our game.

As highly skilled and flashy as Cedric is his biggest flaws are workrate and being able to find the ball.

Are these 2 flaws connected.

Do we back our club to fix his workrate issues and his numbers will increase as a result ?

I would give him a rookie spot for a year at best .

It would also mean jetta is gone

So looks like the saints and crow doing some other deals to get crows band 1 compo for crouch.

Crows taking on 2 saints players contracts in Webster and Dunstan for steak knives picks .

In return saints free up enough salary cap to offer crouch a big enough contract for band 1 . Netting crows pick 2 .

Vic media especially that old witch caro are in a fury over it . Saying crouch isn't worth pick 2 .

Caro who's team got one of the best young key forwards for free in the same system need to realise that crouch is probably the crows best midfielder in his prime and they need to be compensated accordingly.

Its band 1 the fact that its pick 2 doesn't come into it .

Top clubs can't strip the lower clubs of free agents without the afl giving adequate compo.

These same people didn't bat an eyelid when Melbourne got pick 3 for frawley
