Can they let rines back? We'll take her, if only for her great stories.

"We're getting more than pick 26 for Crameri, you can take that to the bank."

45 mins later.... Crameri deal signed off on for pick 26

First time Bigfooty user here and knew this was the first place to make my splash.

"GetDimmaBack" I know how your mate feels. I'm one who has made the switch.
Not on the back of season 2015 but at the beginning of the 2014 preseason.

For me, the club I grew up supporting which had strong leaders on and off the field was no longer in sync with the same morals and principles I hold myself too. Observing the behaviour and conduct of the leaders I couldnt be a part of a team that keeps their (ex)members in the dark, unable to provide clear proof of no wrong doing and expected to help pay the bill and lavish french holidays.

All along the journey The Bulldogs were my strong second team and even rode the wave of highs and lows with family and close friends who support the Bulldogs. I have fond memories attending games going back to 97 as a 10yr old.

I've been welcomed and embraced by the Breed and excited for what lies ahead.

I've got a close mate who's an Essendon coterie member. Dogs are his second side (because of me).

He's close to buying a Dogs reserved seat membership so he can sit with us when work permits. Dons have let him down to the point where his heart's pretty much not in it any more (yes, he's one of the handful of realists they have at EFC...).

If he can jump, why not others?

Welcome aboard NB - both to the club and the board. Brave move and for all the right reasons.
I don't think you'll regret the move and from the look of it we should see some good contributions from you on this board.
Go dogs!

Thank you mate.

This was the perfect discussion to jump into and add some insight.

It wasn't a decision I made lightly but surprisingly easier when I looked at every questionable move made by Essendon and what didn't sit right with me additionally was the almost like cult following of Hird and this was in 2013. I have no ill will towards any Essendon supporters and know they're doing it tough.

This is why I'll always have a soft spot for Crameri as we both joined in 2014. :)
(Spewing I can't change my username to CramDog)

Definitely happy with the decision and have admired what the Western Bulldogs stand for and the resilience of the brand.

Thanks for the kind words and I'll be sticking with NewBreed (for now)

Really eager and can't wait for the season proper to begin.

Go Bulldogs

Welcome NewBreed / CramDog. Hopefully it's a happy hunting ground.

You might be able to ask a supermod to change your alias. Whatever you are called eventually, it's a pleasure to have you on board.

FWIW i actually think NewBreed is a really good name.

Also, you made the right decision mate...
this club is awesome, even with the little success weve had. Imagine what itll be like when we finally win :)

Worth a try but I am tipping you would only ever convert fringe supporters and not members. I look at it this way, if the same thing happened at the dogs, would I jump ship, no way. How many Fitzroy members/supporters do you know that still follow football and whilst having soft spots for other teams, simply don't align with a specific team.
I'm ex Fitzroy.

What happened to Fitzroy was an unequivocal disgrace. Just sickening disrespect for history, fans and tradition.
Yea, I was accepting that they could have been folded into another Melbourne team ... even North. Was prepared to become a North supporter even... But for them to be cherry picked over by the Bears and the way the AFL "arranged" it just made me revisit who I'd be happiest barracking for... and, my god what a ride the Doggies have given me. I came on board pretty well with the Year of The Dogs and Plough as coach.
There really is a bit of Bulldog grit and spirit where they massively punch above their weight ... like all those years without decent tall forwards, but they'd find a way and this club attracts some great team orientated individuals that really care for what the club stands for in supporting the lesser wealthy Western suburbs, supporting the underdog spirit "we give our very best". I was actually quite proud when the players and ultimately the club repudiated Macca as a coach, because under him I felt they were no longer playing with the sheer will, determination and team spirit that characterise the best of the Bulldogs for the last 20 years.
Chris Grant is one such guy with great integrity who stayed with the club (unlike Fitzroy's Roos, Lynch, Pert, Broderick, etc) in dark hours and who is strong behind the scenes. I remember when he came out and spoke so strongly against Akermanis' poisoinous bile and he played a major role in the thinking and selection strategy behind getting Bev as coach.
Remember the "Up Yours Oakley" bumper sticker?... before my time, but it's part of that resilience and cheeky, almost joyful determination to defy the odds : (best of Australian virtues?)

Fitzroy's every effort to stay alive was thwarted by the AFL- they were actively white-anted by that bastard Oakley.

I was only eight when it happened but my old man (a Tigs man) took me along to their last Melbourne game and it was just a dreadfully sad day; even some of the Tigs supporters were reduced to tears. The single darkest event in the game's history, it was.

When I was older I read up more on the whole episode and I must say I've had a jaded view of the AFL as an organisation ever since.

Was at the bookshop today. Saw a few copies of Oakley's book and it took every ounce of willpower I have not to hurl them across the room.

We were lucky to emerge from that decade without him and his cronies destroying any other clubs. But for a late rally by our most ardent supporters, we'd have suffered the same fate - and being in my 20s, I'd never have known the joy of following this club, through thick and thin (or thin and thin, as others have put it. :p).

I'm reading Chip Le Grand's book at the moment, and while it doesn't cast anyone in a particularly favourable light (and I'm already as cynical about the AFL as anyone), the AFL's conduct throughout the Essendon saga makes my blood boil. Corporate stooges, living a delusion, driven by greed.
