Coronavirus and Football

There’s been some really toxic posting in here based on bullshit identity politics over the last few months involving a small number of posters, and it’s been getting worse imo.

Frustrating because these people have routinely railroaded a number of interesting discussions on coronavirus, football, and everything in between, involving posters from lots of different clubs with differing perspectives who are happy to legitimately debate these issues on their merits. F***, I’ve even learnt some things from Bojan KantKick .

I wouldn’t mind so much if there was some variety or a modicum of intellect behind it, but it’s the same mindless nonsense repeated every day ad nauseum.

It detracts massively from the forum in my opinion.
It seems to be a few posters desperate for the prem to return ASAP vs a majority who find that desperation pretty distasteful in the circumstances.

Giving Liverpool the title isn't an issue for anyone, the rush to return and put people at risk just so that Liverpool can win the title is what people object to.

I can sit 2 metres apart from 6 people in an outdoor space from Monday to put things into some perspective.

I think in the main this is all anyone has said. But scousers still lose their mind anyway.

Probably because they want us to spit the dummy and have a sook because after so long not winning it they thought that finally getting back to the top that’s what the reaction would be, but they were wrong.

You know for a fact that United supporters are not taking the news well? It gives our club the opportunity to quality for the CL next season through the league if the EL doesn’t also return. If the EL does return, added bonus. If the season wasn’t stopped, Liverpool would have won the league in early April and everyone would have moved on in April. You will find that the way fanbases work is they just move on, no one will stop posting on here or be in a fit of rage about it as you’re probably imagining.

Much more sensible posting here, others could learn from it. Season finishing up early was the best thing for you guys, ensured you were not in danger of getting relegated :D:D:D

In all seriousness hopefully the Europa League can resume and you get the chance to add a trophy. Not sure how that's going to work with travel either banned to so many places or requiring 14 days of isolation on arrival.

A very very small number of people fit this category. I think there’s been a lot of wilful misrepresentation and exaggeration of what the majority have actually been saying, because hyperbole makes their arguments sound a lot stronger than they actually are, which from my perspective has been the source of most of the shit fights.

I could come in here every morning and say ALL TOTTENHAM SUPPORTERS ARE WHITE SUPREMACISTS. But I don’t, because it’s not true, and I’m not a c*** who likes to start pointless fights with strangers on the internet for no reason.

In reality 99% of the posters in here have the same attitude to this - no rush, return when safe to do so. If we get to a point that the season needs to be cancelled, so be it. The title, Europe, relegation, promotion - it’ll all be resolved one way or another.

Again, it’s a minuscule number of people who actually think this way. And I follow a lot of Liverpool fans in here and on social media.

At the end of the day, it’s the league and all the clubs who are deciding the timeframe for a return, not the fans. I’m sure they couldn’t give 2 shits about putting lives at risk just so Liverpool can win the league. There are a million other more important factors for them to consider. Like money.

D a fu q are you going on about?

So Bruno Fernandes increased his top speed over 5.5 metres and all of a sudden he is no longer susceptible to injury? I love it.

There are a number of rigorous tests professional footballers would have to endure before they are deemed fit (aerobic capacity, muscular fitness, flexibility, cardio, mobility, stability, power, body fat distribution, etc.). Even when all these boxes are ticked, players still require match-fitness conditioning. Football is a multi-directional sport and players will use different movement patterns each game (direction, pace, footwork, etc.) plus they are exercising at a variety of different intensities using different muscle fibres and energy sources. The only way to prepare for this is through match practice, which the Premier League players have had zero of. There's a reason why Specific Adaption to Imposed Demand is a fundamental principle in sports training.

I also find it highly amusing that the posters who are ignoring the sports science in this thread attacked Lebbo for ignoring the science relating to coronavirus. I guess science only exists when it's convenient for them.

If you're going to make snide little remarks about me at least quote me.

NEXT.

The post applies to more than one person in this thread. I'm glad you're aware of your hypocrisy though.

You might want to take your advice and learn to read, I never said Fernandes was now immune to injury. :)

Nobody did. Bizarre by Gosh.

It's funny he keeps insisting that he doesn't want to engage in shitfights then finds an excuse to try and start one up again.

As I suggested to WR yesterday, at least I haven't spent the majority of this week going around in circles yet again.

Playing the man yet again to no surprise though, nor is the source of the laugh react on your post.

You two are certainly doing your best to avoid addressing the entirety of my post.

Because the entire premise was flawed.

I'm happy to discuss adjustments required to prevent injuries and did so yesterday. I also suggested today if players have maintained higher levels of fitness it will help them minimise injuries brought on by a lack of fitness.

So what part of your post have I not addressed?

Like I said a good month ago if City, Chelsea or even United were winning the league this season their fans and the club as a whole would be more accepting of a null and void and human safety being most important. But when it's a club going for their first who are a sure thing it's making people who you think have morals act like savages
Geez you’re speaking bs

The science is in favour of everything I wrote. It is not ideal to start the season when players have had such limited time to prepare. No matter what prevention measures they undertake, it will not be adequate given the time constraints and lack of match-fitness conditioning.

I must've missed what you said yesterday. All I caught was the part where you said you read 100 Championship players made 40 appearances last season but you were unable to provide any evidence of that despite me making multiple requests. You then went on some nonsensical rant that had absolutely nothing to do with the discussion.

Glad you accept you missed something, apology accepted.

Oh Dear, the Man Ure fans here have not taken well to the news that the season is resuming and Liverpool will get their just desserts as Champions.

You would think The Scousera created the COVID19 themselves, judging by some of the commenrs in the past two pages.

Anyone congrats to all the Stalwart LFC fans and do not go shy on the celebrations here once you clinch your record equalling Champions of England Trophy !!!

#YNWA
Until we’ve won it I will still believe that we can lose it.

Sorry what's the link? I quoted WR when speaking to him.

There was no post of yours to quote sunshine, there so rarely is.
Oh no. The board pissant ‘sunshined’ me. How will I go on.

You’re hardly the beacon of morality with regards to making snide remarks and not quoting people. Seemed fair game to point out that hypocrisy.

Generally don’t bother engaging with you these days, long ago realised your one true purpose here is shitfight creator.

Yep, spot on. Nobody has ever suggested anything other than resuming competition if it is medically safe to do so.

Any posters suggesting otherwise are usually salty fans trying to start a shit fight / troll. Which really isn't on as it is using the health of people to bait fellow posters.

chef has been shuttung it down to his credit. It is frustrating that theres still a few that persist with it.
