Why should industries be 'penalised' because people are dying?

I'm not really sure how to approach that question.

Saying "it's not fair" because the country is in a bad situation isn't really a compelling argument.

Well the football/sporting industry is a unique beast, surely there should be flexibility to extend this season’s timeframe and shorten the next one, in order to maintain a fair playing field.

This is not like the NBA or MLB that have seasons reliant upon playoffs to decide their champions (for example)

Well from all reports the worst is behind is with the COVID19, and Bundesliga is starting up again in a couple of weeks,
we have weathered the worst, and Liverpool, Leeds, West Brom and Coventry (etc) deserve to be rewarded for our stellar body of work before COVID19 struck.

We (Leeds) lost a club legend in Norman Hunter due to this dreadful virus, we deserve an opportunity to win our place in the Top Flight and honouring Norm’s memory by finishing the domestic season in the championship (even if next season gets shortened)

You cannot piss away 3/4 of a season’s hard work/yakka due to this unforeseen plague, I appreciate your wisdom and perspective on this issue WR, but I strongly disagree (with the utmost respect)
Your little football club isn't more important than the life of anyone.

Just try and be passionate without insulting posters.

I respectfully agree with that advice, but to be fair, I feel like I was also insulted on some level (admittedly you may not agree) for being selfish and the implication of putting lives at risk for wanting this season to finish.

I feel greatly frustrated in terms of trying to put forth my argument of finishing the current domestic season (in all major English Divisions) without trying to seem callous or the very least ignorant of the worldwide crisis that is ravaging The World, esp Europe,in the past few months.

I just don’t want to see several months of hard work from the LUFC players and my own personal emotional investment go to waste by declaring this current Domestic season Null and Void

Is it unreasonable of me or anyone else to want this current domestic English season to finish up, even if next season gets shortened (but all teams, in all divisions start equal)

I freely admit to being arguably a stubborn prick over this (and I apologise), but as a long suffering Leeds United fan, this is an issue very close to my heart, and I feel like the Football Gods/Karma owe us a break, I have little doubt we would have gone up in one of the auto promo spots if this season was not disrupted by COVID19.

Given that historically, LUFC would have to be in one of the top 10 greatest and most successful British Clubs of all time, not a fan of us being described as a little club either. :)

Surely the bottom 3 are trying to negotiate a better financial outcome for relegated teams if they are actually against the proposal put forward? Or are they backing themselves to win a legal battle if there is no resumption?

If self interest is the only thing at play, surely Leicester and Chelsea would be against resuming. West Ham, Brighton and Watford definitely would. I don’t think Newcastle and Southampton would feel safe either.

If self interest based on this season is the only thing at play then I don’t see any way they get to 75% yes. If the vote does get up, it might be a window into how bad the financial position is of some of these teams.

My guess is this vote doesn’t get up, and those who say no negotiate as much as they can before the next vote.

Over the last 20 years you haven't even been the most successful club in Yorkshire let alone Britain. Delusion.

I suspect the league will look at buying votes to make sure the vote gets up. Nothing I've heard from the outsets suggests they see stopping the season as something worth consideration.

Concerned about relegation, here have some £££.

Concerned about Europe, here have some £££

Concerned about safety, here have some £££.

There's too much money involved for the league to let clubs stop the season. If nothing else, clubs being "difficult" are putting themselves in a stronger position when the money starts getting flung.

lol what have Hull or the Wendies or Blunts ever achieved aside from promotion to the Premier League ?

FA has veto power over them, why would they need to do a deal?

League 1 & 2 are supposed to be concluded next week on a PPG basis but I guess that is easier to settle with far less at stake.

The FA still needs cooperation from the premier league and it's clubs.

At least his club didn’t buy the competition
It wasn't a criticism of Leeds, I was laughing at the idea that they are a true football club and others aren't.

It's a narrative based on insecurity.

I think you’re right. I’d say once the league gets a read on who the ‘no’s’ are after this vote, they’ll put in plans ($$$) needed to get those votes to swing.

I’m sure the clubs are playing the game just as much as the league at this stage.

It seems not, they have veto power if they want to use it. Sounds like they expect the other shareholders to sort it out themselves though before they take that step.

Overruling the league wouldn't be something they want to do.
