At this point I’m convinced that the afl wanted the government to pull the pin for them this morning and have now shit themselves because that didn’t happen

They banned wet markets in Guangzhou after SARS and it came back the next year as the PRC turned a blind eye.

The same will happen with this – empty words and laws from the PRC as for them a global pandemic is not their problem. Wuhan will have their wet markets re-open in 2021. I am a leftie but I disagree with those that will inevitably be apologists for the PRC's handling of the outbreak.
My mother said that Australia was much too slow in shutting down international passenger aircraft when COVID-19 was still known as “novel coronavirus”. Both me and my mother say Australia should have totally shut down such transport as soon as the virus was reported spreading (although how to deal with returning Australian citizens would become a tough problem).

If you read ‘Does Life Consistently Maximise Energy Intensity’, whose tenth anniversary is this month, you will see just how optimal and hence dangerous the hot, wet, nutrient-rich tropical Asian region is for microbes – despite infinitely greater success combating endemic infectious diseases than in Africa or even Latin America. This seriously suggests much better quarantining of those who come from tropical or even East Asia is called for in Australia.

I suspect season going on but the finer details of reducing play time to 16.5 minutes a quarter plus time on and clubs ticking off to agree to, is making it take longer.
Exactly. If was going to cancel surely they could have done that quickly and worried about the rest at a later date.

It is off topic if your pre-dominant postings in thread are about soccer clubs in an AFL specific forum. Just do it somewhere else.
Enough is enough.

Who made you the sheriff?

He has opinions about the impact of Covid 19 on the AFL season. He has used the European experience of Covid 19 and its impact on football there. You have a different opinion, great, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't post his views and what he has based them on.

That is the purpose of these forums.

There is something called budgeting. Seriously people save some of your earnings. I hope everyone has a job at the end of this though.
A lot of people don't earn enough to save anything. A few casual hours a week topped up by a cut rate of Newstart often doesn't cover rent, much less basic living. Lose those hours and any second income, and its homeless time if governments don't step in and stop evictions (and maybe put a halt on repossessions with home loans as well).

Yes, there are also a lot who consider luxuries like private schooling and a new 4WD every second year as "essentials" as well, and therefore stuggle on good money when they could easily save.

Its a simple decision ...... postpone and wait and see how this plays out over the next 5 to 6 weeks - they could still commence the season at the start of May and get in a 17 week season

If by then the situation hasn't improved by May then season cancellation comes into play. ...
Right now, coronavirus cases are small - really small - if it got no worse than this it would hardly be much of a problem.

BUT here's the surest tip ever - by the start of May it will be far, far worse and a huge, gigantic problem. We may as well get a few rounds in now why we still can, before it really hits us.
