Forget Bentleigh. They're heading south for the winter, just like St.Kilda.
Glen Eira have been the improvers from that part of town. Look to be a gap forming in the middle. Expect the top 4 to break away from the pack at the halfway turn. OP re in deep trouble after double dropping. An upset this week is on the cards and a big battle for relegation will begin come round 10. Werribee and St.Leos will head the list and Banyule right on their coat tails. GE next and Ivanhoe a little of the pace before a big logjam towards the tail of th ladder. This could end up being a season similar to last year down at the wrong end in D2.
Here's how it'll look at in just over a fortnight:

Werribee 32 (2 tough games, but should win both)
St.Leos 32 (2 shall we say easybeats...? We will after the next month)
Banyule 28 (Tough match away this week, then should enjoy a week off and less of a challenge the follwing Sat)
Glen Eira 24 (Expecting big things. Big chance at Werribee with a week's rest to prepare)
Ivanhoe 16 (Won't really threaten. Just be thereabouts all year)
Therry 12 (Fortunes are changing. Look for a strong round on the back 9)
Parade 8 (Will start to struggle methinks. Will battle it out with Bentleigh for 9th spot)
Bentleigh 8 (I've said they're no good and maintain it. Lucky to survive last year. Doubt they will this year)
O W'bourne 8 (Seem to know where they're at and I suspect will improve as the season progresses)
Salesian 8 (In struggletown, but will mix it with the middle pack and may cause a couple of upsets)

which club are u associated with yawn?? if any?

prety fair analisis, of the top 4 except id say banyule r still the 3rd best team and GE 4th even tho u expect big things from them

and i beg to differ about bentleigh i think they r the same as uve classified OW as only going to get better

Akka, Is Paul Hudson thinking of pulling the boots on this weekend??? What is his story?? how come he isnt playing? Enjoying too many frothies?..........

Nah, no chance. Had a reco after last years prelim aand is strictly a 'match day official' thesedays. He's just a two's player anyway.

Thats a shame i would have loved to be able to hang it on him in the Werribee Westbourne return game......... hahahaha

On to this week lads, the last week before the break. Some huge games, with the pick being
Glen Eira v Banyule: Banyule travelling along nicely at the moment, but Glen Eira very good at home. Think Glen Eira play the ground too well, and am tipping Glen Eira by 1 goal
SMS v Old Paradians - The wheels appear to have fallen off the combine, and Old Paradians form is difficult to read. Can't possible pick SMS - OP by 5 goals
Ivanhoe v Werribee - Ivanhoe going along nicely at the minute, have been extremely competitive in every game, and have won their fair share. Werribee will be looking to make amends, however won't have it all their own way. Expect Ivanhoe to stick with Werribee for 3 qtrs, Pace to have a day out - but Werribee by 6 goals.
Therry Penola v Old Westbourne - last chance for both these sides. One word here - Therry - by 7 goals.
Finally, Bentleigh v ESL - tipping ESL by 2 goals, although expect Bentleigh through Robbo and co to be very competitive.

Be interested to here some other thoughts on:
League B&F coming up to the half way point - Robertson (Bent)
League Goalkicking coming up to the halfway point - Clark (GE)
Relegated teams - Between SMS, Bent and OW
Promoted teams - Between Werribee, ESL and Ban

The wheels are definatley still on Kibe!! A few handy inclusions this week back from injury and unavailabilites. Looking at getting our season back on track!

I can understand why people from outside the club would think our wheels are off though. Its up to us now to prove them wrong!

Saint Marys-salesian are shit this year. They are struggling to bond as a team. They aren't playing for the jumper. They are soft and will be in D3 next year.

Im from St Leos mate and you are a total tool!!

SMS have had a heap of injuries and are struggling on the field

There is no trouble with the merger however and the only posters who write this crap are clearly cut that St Marys came up 2 grades to merge with a legit D2 side who finished 6th last year

F OFF - and good luck in D4 Im guessing

Yeah good work champ, word is SMS have some players coming back this week and a win against OP isn't out of the question, despite the thrashing that was copped last week. They just need to get things right from the merger and start playing as a team and things will start to click for SMS.

Might be time for a lunch time stroll Drifter, may calm things down a bit.
Having spent a little time looking at VFL fixtures some news that may involve SMS, both good and bad. If Boundy plays for OP this week then it'll be a bad day for the combine. Singh coming in will help but Boundy is a class act. The positive is that Singh should be available for round 9 as Bendigo ressies have the bye that weekend.

Bring some Kryptonite.

Speaking of websites, whats happening with yours Drif, looks a bit plain

Glen Eira v Banyule: Will be a cracker of a game, I believe both sides are very evenly matched, in respect to the height, fitness and skill levels... IMO a kick will seperate the teams.

SMS v Old Paradians: Pretty straight forward here, Boundy plays, OP win. If he doesn't will be a decent hit out nevertheless. For the SMS blokes on here, where has Lentini been?

Ivanhoe v Werribee: Ivanhoe are a suprise packet so far... getting on the right train but going on the wrong tracks! Werribee have something to prove from last weeks loss to the boys from emmaus.

Therry Penola v Old Westbourne: Good to see Bannister back and kicking goals! Is a key if they are to beat relegation. OW need to work on their kicking, should have blown bentleigh out of the water but kicked it everwhere but between the big sticks. At home and with a handy crowd TP to steal the points.

Bentleigh v Emmaus St. Leo's: Drif your mob are on fire and stomping over anything that gets in your way, even keeping the tigers on the leash and cementing a top 2 spot. However, you never ride of the boys from Authur Street and if Robbo isn't controlled you may see the Demons sneak away with a W...

Anyhow, here are my tips, will be interesting to get down to the club and read what that space cadet we call our D2 scribe has given us. Looks like might be a good night for training!

You could have qualified for gymnastics for the Australian 2008 Beijing Olympics team with a back flip like that!! :D

Stick to the cricket threads Ashy! You obviously have no idea!! Split personality maybe.....??

Thanks for the support Drifter!! Good to see a well informed poster.

Leftfootkick, Lentini has had some big issues with his work, the boss is not very accomodating....big loss!

Griff....perhaps a return for yourself is on the cards?

It seems the break is coming at the right time for a lot of teams. Injuries have plagued most clubs in D2 this year, and with a lot of teams getting key players back it will make for a very interesting second half of the season.

My tips this week:

Werribee to smash Ivahoe or the rebound. To beat Werribee you need good quality talls, and I dont think Ivanhoe have those apart from Pace. Werribee by 20 goals.

ESL to beat Bentleigh easily. Bentleigh may be without Robbo, which will hurt them massively. ESL showed their quality last week and I can't see them dropping this one. ESL by 40 points.

SMS to hit back against OP. Don't think SMS are as bad as everyone thinks. Can Boundy be stopped though? SMS by 3 points

OW to beat Therry by 5 goals. Warriors have introduced some youth into the team and it seems to be paying off. Therry have been pregressively getting better as the season goes as well so it could go either way. Think the possible inclusion of C. Hudson may get the Warriors over the line. 2 goals.

Banyule over GE. Easily match of the round as mentioned earlier. GE need to win otherwise they will start feeling pressure from sides below, but Banyule will be too god for mine. 25 points.

you weak as pi$$ back flipper, why not back up your convictions instead of touching your toes

Looks like SMS will be in with a huge change to get those wheels rolling again... Boundy was not released.

However in Ivanhoe's fortunes, they receive Josh Riddle but I don't think he is enough to stop Werribee's run.
