D3 2009 Part 2

What surprises me is that no-one has really mentioned that on any other year, even though they beat the top team twice, Powerhouse would have been demoted to the lowest grade of football in the VAFA. Do you think that this will be brought up at regular intervals in 2010 in the D3 thread & how they've been given the biggest lifelines in VAFA history. I don't know, time will tell I suppose.
One thing is for sure, that its saved Dee Three from even further embarassment, not having to change his username to Dee Four
Another thing that is true Dee Three/Four, is we didn't get "the rub of the green" when it came to umpiring descisions, especially from the "Irish sounding little weedy looking umpire" who was on a first name basis with the Irish players for Powerhouse. Coincidence?? A lot of down the field freekicks for absolute BS. Maybe I'm reading into to it a little too much. But I guess it doesn't matter now, does it.

We thought we would watch up to the big melee. 40 minutes into the first quarter ( I kid you not) the melee starts. After waiting 40 minutes the DVD pauses, goes black and cuts forward to the next centre bounce. The VAFA cut off the melee and the resulting goal. Do they think we wouldn't notice

PS..funny to hear that they were crying about the St.Mary's No.51 after the GF....i saw the whole thing close up and i'm pretty sure that i saw a few bentleigh fists getting thrown also.....BUT sorry - i wouldnt want to mention that!!
I did see what looked like a vicious headbutt from a bentleigh player onto 51's fist. should have got 3-4 in my opinion.
Also griff i think i'm speaking on behalf of everybody when i say i'm glad to hear your never drinking again, you menace.

I can't believe you are carrying on about that when you have won a premiership.
Fact is, if an umpire is touchy on "late" bumps you have to adjust your game (especially in finals) Happened to us in 2006 - umpy was trigger happy on a couple of things so we had to make sure we didn't give any away.

I would of thought that Powerhouse would want to get relegated, hard to see where they are going to get their wins from next year with Bentleigh and Gryphons no longer in D3!

Fact is, if an umpire is touchy on "late" bumps you have to adjust your game (especially in finals) Happened to us in 2006 - umpy was trigger happy on a couple of things so we had to make sure we didn't give any away.

Yeah had to stretch the bow back a long way for that one. Power house will go a long way in the 2's next year. Probably only 1 tall short up forward this year- maybe get Benson playing permanent 2's next year

Good luck to you too - said it before - too good, too skilled and yep, our height was an issue. Pull some of your tosser clubmates in line and Bentleigh might get a better name than it currently has.
Then again, most clubs have a few tossers (although I don't know I know any at the House, apart from Bemused when he's all souped up

Just on Richie Benson. He's a senior player and should know that. He got dropped for the round 18 match - if he had been dropped the week before, I think he would have qualified for the 2s. Geez - we didn't do a good job of stacking the 2s did we!!!

Incorrect.
Obviously they are seriously considering it, with a committee meeting taking place with this issue at the fore.
Personally agree with you, but some issues with the VAFA have caused the club to rethink its position

If it was to happen travelling would be bliss.
That is if we were placed in Div 2, which is on a par with D3 IMO (see the correlation - F Grade VAFA = Division 2 SFL)
Also agree that the VAFA will fine you just for farting in their presence. And that their is maybe a pregidous against district clubs, but I think we'll stay put. We'll find out more I guess at the AGM
