I know alot of you lads are wrighting off La Trobe to be pretenders this year, but after being a neutral observer last week im positive your all wrong.
The score board gave no credit to latrobe, and did not show the amount of front runners the wick had!!!
For starters the ground they played on was a disgrace to VAFA football, and latrobe had no idea how to play on what would be one of the toughest grounds in D3...
And also latrobe is a very young outfit, with some young bodies and heads that will no doubt mature during the season. Missing young ganino (not sure of the spelling) was a big loss, and to have only one loss at this stage is a great positive. As long as the young blokes stay interested, by week 5 or 6 they will hit their straps and all those writing them off will be eating their words!!

Just a thought... Peelers

Same thing has been said about La Trobe for years.

Happy to write them off

Seen most of them. Ill get a closer look at the OW forwards this weekend.
Angelo Pace from Ivanhoe. No 44. Looks like he didnt play Round 1.
What odds for A.Pace to finish top 3 in the sharp shooters this year?

Hutton, Jeka and Edwards will fight out the goal kicking
Higgins is a quality player, Horne from kew is the best small forward in the comp. Pace goes alright and Lauletta from Hawthorn kicked a 100 last year in d4. Johnny I think Pace would have to kick 5 a week to finish top 3 because I think 2 or 3 could kick a 100 in this grade.

Is Horne from Kew a small forward? from the other end of the ground last week he seemed like a good size to me. Does he play as a small forward or did i just have the wrong bloke (which could be the case)

think Horne prob rotates through the midfield changing onto half forward line from what i saw.

saw Kew play against OW last week, they looked hard at it and did trouble OW at times, if they can put it together they will be close to top 4 team espically considering there a very new group they will get better as season goes on just OW quality side and very good skills espically by foot.

seems like fairly even comp under OW.

Serpico - You've merely reeled off the top 7 on the goalkicking leaderboard there. We're well aware of the current standings. I think Johnny has made a pretty good call on Pace.

I know OW are flying but surely you wouldn't expect two players from the same team (Hutton & Jeka) to kick 100+?

There is no rotation about it. He starts in the centre square and then rolls forward. You would be extremely lucky to see him go anywhere near the centre let alone the back half.
Saying that he can cause some damage, but how much damage does his opponent in the centre create? Just as much I would say.

Pacey is very good forward who was also a very good backman. But to kick 100 goals which maybe needed will be quite tough. I hope he goes well. I don't think he in the class of the other 3 which I have seen this year and will have to agree with serpico on that one. I saw Paul Edwards destroy Banyule in 2005 - he is a gun.

If 100+ is what it will take, then I also agree that he would struggle. But I struggle to see how two players from 1 team could kick 100+? I doubt that has that ever been done before?

Horne kept Kew in d3 last of his own boot. I am sure that Chase would like Horne playing on a half forward flank at his club.

Would agree with this chase. Saw him against La trobe - played very well for 5 majors, but does get caught the other way. TRUE mid-field - no, not what I saw. Smart half-forward - Yes. 6ft, 85Kgs, reasonable pace, reads play well. Kicked about 50-odd for Kew last year , but if played in the middle can get burnt the other way !! ( hence way Crazybear suggests that he plays HFF ) ;)

Well boys and girls, just had my weekly Zen meeting with my Guru and some interesting things came out of it. Firstly it appears my job as driver of the Ivanhoe bandwagon is now redundant, job done, good luck for the year boys. So who's bandwagon am I starting up now?? Not OW, got their own, Power have their own driver (Chump)....hmmmmm.

I can feel it must be Swinny, another winless team to help get their season going. My senses tell me they are much better than 0-3, and will turn it around this week, sorry Kew. So for those interested the bandwagon will be in Burwood Rd ready to go sat morn, come along....

My tips:

Wicks by 3 goals over the once mighty Hoes
La Trobe by 10 points over Hawthorn
WB by 34 points over Chumps mob
Swinny to winny by 21 points over Kew
OW just over monash by 150 points

Did Swinny have a cocktail night last Saturday night?

I think that was the key for the Hoes, the Fluffy Ducks gave their season a real kick-start.

Monash are doing a rain dance. Gonna be hard to loose by 150+ in a storm.
Actually, If Monash forfeited they would loose the 4 points but no percentage. Am I right?
That might tactically be a very smart move..

Smart man Johnny, I think they should seriously consider your suggestion. If it was going to be dry on the weekend I would have tipped 250 points!:D

Just had a look at the Power House website. They proudly boast about being D grade premiers last year, except they left out one important detail...it was D4!! I am sure it was a simple oversight to leave out the 4.

Big differnece between D1 and D4 guys. Let's stick to the truth.

Wouldn't win a game in D1!

Champ or Chump;7526032 Hoe V E-wick - wicks by 5 goals as I think they are 2nd best team in it. La Trobe V Hawks - hawks 2 goals - that's a big ground at La trobe WB V the house - crunch time for WB ? ;) House by 2 points. Kew V Swinney - Swinney to get first win for the year by 13 points OW V Monash - ouch said:
ETE - your a little slow to catch on, but that's ok ....... swinney selected on Monday ( see above ).
