Our board will be put on surveillance watch if this trade falls through. Fingers crossed. Could you take Rohan too while you're at it?

That's going too far, Geelong want him. We are taking Menzel instead, spread it around a bit more.

Looks like there’s some serious problems at the club. Our last impressive debutant Ben Paton criticizing the club and Hanneberry trade publicly :(

Is that serious or did you make that up? That's seriously ****ed up stuff if the players are actually saying it on social media.

Did you notice the guy posting was Ben PAYton, not Paton?
Do you honestly think a young kid is going to come out in public and criticise the club he’s just landed at, and debuted for?

Dan will boost our level of experience which is clearly our biggest deficiency. 3 times All Australian, currently we do not have anyone with an AA nomination. He had no preseason this year and incurred other injuries as well, so lets hope this year was an aberration on the injury front. He can be a good role model for the young guys on our list on how to train and how to prepare and he is a competitive beast. I am very positive about getting him onto our list, for the right price of course.

Stuv twice, Ross and Roberton have all had AA nominations

Pretty sure each AFL Club has to make 6 List Changes every season.
Hannabery is better than every delisted player
If Hannaberry helps us win more games other good players will come.
Havent played finals for years so its worth a punt.

Only 3. Changes. Either draft or upgrades. Trades/FA don’t count

It’s a great move depending on cost in picks, easily best 22 even if stuffed, frees up Steven. adds experience, leadership. All for it at the right price

Chicken or Cheese?

Oh St Kilda, St Kilda....I agree with Terry Wallace that if St Kilda trade for Dan Hannebery its Trading Incompetency.

He does have a excellent resume but I worry his body has been battered too much. He has had groin problems so lets wait and see. Saints wouldn't show interest in a 28 year old coming off a poor season unless they believe its the direct result of some acute or chronic injury they can resolve. Groins will slow you down and Hannebery never had speed to begin with.

It doesnt make sense him coming to us. He is close to 28!!! now and doesnt have the leg speed like Stuv at a similar age to suggest he has plenty of years in him given the state of our depleted young list. Even Carlton have stated they will not be targeting players over 25 26. Saints recruiters and coaching staff keep saying we need speed and elite skills so why are we targeting 28 year old Hannebery?? Because he has been a star in the past...geez

Big question is what do we give up for him. Pick #3 a huge NO, 2019 first round huge NO even 2nd rounders we should hold onto because those picks are our future, Dan Hannebery is not our future, he is not coming to us to experience finals footy and win a flag he wants a new environment, to return home to VIC and a big pay deal towards the end of his career. We are a bottom 4 club and he is 28...Give Sydney some TWISTIES because this trade makes no sense given the state of our list.
We need good players full stop.. especially experienced ones with leadership. Steven is not a leader, and he has proved that he can’t do it alone in the midfield. Are you going to draft a 18 year old to play in the midfield? We want to improve, so there’s nothing wrong with getting good players, If Hannebery is over 30, then I’d say no, he still has a good 4 years left if he gets over his injuries. It’s also w statement of intent. Other gun players may look at us seriously. If we just do nothing and rely on high draft picks we’ll not get very far.. So let’s take a chance and hope for the best. You can’t blame the club for trying!! It will not cost a 1st round pick. The highest we’ll pay is a second round pick.

As long as he costs nothing more than a mid second round pick I'm ok with this. If we also manage to move on Armitage and Dunstan that makes it even better. Sounds like we're probably going to take Menzel as a FA

Realistic 2019 team (if Richo is still in charge) is looking something like this

B: Geary, Brown, Webster
HB: Roberton, Carlisle, Savage
C: Acres, Steele, Ross
HF: Billings, Marshall, Gresham
F: Menzel, Bruce, Membrey

Foll: Hickey, Steven, Hannebery
Int: Long, Clark, Newnes, Sinclair

It's certainly better than the team we fielded for most of this season but it's still a long way off looking like a finals side. I'm not keen on getting Menzel in at all, either. Hannebery will essential be a younger Armo replacement and Menzel an older Lonie replacement.

Hes not just an average mid, idc about the past two years Sydney obviously rated him very highly

"They had also prioritised other – more important – re-signings over the previous 12 months.

Star midfielders Dan Hannebery and Luke Parker were locked away on lucrative five-year extensions, and then-co-captain Kieren Jack was secured for a further three years.

All three were clearly more valuable members of the Swans' midfield than Mitchell, as was reigning best and fairest winner Josh Kennedy"
