SEN WA have claimed this morning Daniel Curtin wants to return to WA already and Fremantle are already involved.

The AFL extended draftee contracts from 2 to 3 years, but it's irrelevant when all the power is with the player and they can walk out and request trades whenever they like, effectively rendering their contract terms fairly pointless.

The AFLPA is/has ruined the draft system.

We need free trading for clubs within the next decade.

If it means a massive pay rise in the CBA to compensate players, or some sort of loyalty bonus etc, so be it.

Personally not a fan of 18yo draftees jumping ship after their first season, unless there's exceptional circumstances involved. Hope this rumour doesn't have much legs to it.

Having said that, reports are Crows are developing him as a KPD, despite all his best games being as a mid/HBF and he himself stating he sees himself as a mid in his draft interviews.

Unhappy with the way he's being developed maybe?

Did you see his face on draft day? It looked like he saw the grim reaper or something float by. He was deadset distraught

Its probably a combination of everything

Yeah but would hope a player not from Vic would have more testicular fortitude than that. It was highly unlikely he'd end up in WA to begin with.

Reports are WCE attempts to swap picks with Adelaide/GWS were to get Caddy also(he mentioned prior to debut he thought he was going to WCE with Reid), so he was never in the radar anyway apparently.

Id say Freo in the box seat. Can give up pick 10 + 15 for example

I think Eagles will get Busslinger instead as a cheaper option draft capital wise
This would probably throw Freo out of the Warner race though wouldn’t it? The other two picks wouldn’t be enough and they’d have to use 1 pick over this year and next is the rule.

Adelaide don’t have to trade Curtin.

Contractually they don't.

Culturally they will have to.

Or they could back their culture and recruiting in. Plenty of 19 year olds struggle interstate early and the Crows would’ve been aware that all of this was a possibility when they picked him.

He will still be worth plenty next offseason so no need to trade unless it’s complete overs.

Nah, you offered your F1 for Curtin as your first preference, then Caddy after Adelaide took Curtin.

This article explains it.

WCE had Curtin rated as the second best player in the open draft.

Exactly, better off backing in their culture unless they get offered overs for him. Freo will have to overpay.

Our culture is ****ed though.

Club is a basket case.

Freo have Collingwood's first too don't they?

Curtin already cost us 2 x firsts, 11 and 15 for 8 and 17.

Brennan Cox could be back on the table?
