Whatever you have to do to make sure Trav Cloke signs on. Do it. DO NOT let him go into the draft like his Father said he would today.

Re: Dear Collingwood

Losing Cloke would hurt but it would not end us of premiership, bring us closer to the field but we have shown we can win and do it comfortably without him, Tarrant will fill the void if he goes.

I do hope he stays though if he can learn to kick straight could turn into one of the all time greats.

Re: Dear Collingwood

They should show him his two shots at goal just before half time in the first GF and tell him that he is lucky to have a contract offer on the table after that performance, and the no show in GF Replay.

Re: Dear Collingwood

He'll sign but he has placed his reputation amongst the team to an all time low. You've just won a flag on a premise of togetherness & you have 1 player risking this.

If Travis has any brains he would be cringing.

Re: Dear Collingwood

I have a feeling his dad said it on the spur of the moment. He didn't quite grasp what big news it would be when he said his premiership CHF son would go into the draft if they didn't get the right deal. He's in way over his head trying to get the best deal for Trav, but I think it's time he got himself a professional manager. That 5% cut is well worth it Trav, trust me.

Re: Dear Collingwood

Cloke is has potential and all that but he doesnt not deserve a pay rise at all. He kicked under 40 goals again this year and more behinds then goals. If he is less then 100% commited to the club then he can piss off, I couldnt care less it will not make a difference at all next year weather we win the flag or not. He missed 2 games this year and we still floged the two teams we played.

Most marks inside 50 of any player in GF2

Most goal assists of any player in GF2

Yeah a real no show

Re: Dear Collingwood

Couldn't care less.. I'll be glad to see him go. His unko kicking at goal is not funny anymore.
I think we were a better team when he was suspended in rounds 16/17. (thrashed Stkilda and demolished Richmond)
His goal kicking brings the spirit and confidence of the whole team down.
You can see the panic and frustration set in, and it affects everyone else.
So much of what makes football teams great is confidence and spirit, when the team get let down and frustrated by poor kicking for goal it has a flow on effect, it brings the team down and gives the opposition hope and reprieve, so his 40 behinds this year count for a whole lot more than just missed scoring opportunities.
The two easy goals he missed in the first grand final before half time are a classic example.

If they are going to be difficult let them go elsewhere. His other two brothers careers have been over very quickly anyway, who knows how much longer Trav has.
The only tragedy will be that we don't get anything for him. Should have been traded for good picks.
If Anthony gets a good preseason in I think he's a better option as a goal kicking forward, could easily improve on his 50 goals in 2009 if fit and well..

I am hoping he does but I am starting to believe one of the reasons Jack Anthony was taken off the trade table was as insurance if Cloke leaves.

If he goes into the draft, GC, Melb or West Coast will be his home and I am hoping the lure of another premiership (which he would closer to with us then the rest) is enough to get him to sign

I think Melbourne will be in the mix for a premiership is a couple of years, he will fit in there perfectly and can do a Luke Ball to Collingwood as was done to St Kilda.

Please Collingwood treat Travis with some respect and give him what he deserves, or else you will end up getting what you deserve.

Who played the better game in both GF's.

Cloke or Dawes?

If this is serious then Cloke hands down. Dawes was simply insipid in the first GF, utterly horrible. Cloke on the other hand was good, would have been great if he kicked straight for goal, still on contribution he was there and there abouts as the best foward on the ground.

Dawes was a little bit better in the second GF and Cloke a little worse but it was hardly enough to bridge the gap between Cloke and Dawes in the first final.

As for the thread I have mentioned else where if Trav had any intention to go it would have been explored elsewhere before the draft, where they could have found him a more suitable home rather then play the lottery that will be the pre-season draft. As Zahki has mentioned I think David Cloke was asked and in an effort to push things along with a club made this comment / threat without fully understanding (or with full knowledge) of the drama it would create in a hope of getting a better deal from the club.

As for asking the club to do what it takes, as mentioned in another thread if we felt that paying Trav's asking price would lead to us having trouble signing a Pendles, Thomas, Swan etc when GWS start waving around their cheque book then I can understand us not wanting to budge.

It wouldn't peterb me at all to lose Cloke, as I don't think he's as important as some think. However that's only should we be properly compensated for losing him. Losing him for nothing would be terrible.
