We need someone to go in and take a few mids out Tonya Harding style so we can play Florenca again.
I had the same thought.

Terribly sad and indictment on our players that fans want and the team needs Florenca and the like to actually compete in their position.
Such a proud history for so long.

Actual footage of Shuey's hammies:

Wow - I didn't realise that Armie Hammer is not only an Eagles fan but a board member for so long!
Congrats on the career mate! Shame you've had such questionable taste of late though. ;)

Peter Filandia must have been one of your favourite non Eagle players hey??? :p

Yeo returned during the season last year, did a full preseason and was fit and firing before the injury in the first practice match. A bit of bad luck there. Now a concussion. I don’t know that the S&C can be blamed for that but ok 🤷‍♂️

They also gave him Covid.

I daresay not being able to keep your best players, or even youngsters on the park over the past 3 seasons (which is a fair chunk of their job) might come into consideration.

Remember when Shuey tore his hammy, then they sent him back on and he tore his other hammy? Turned into a long layoff that one. Good times. Take me back. Even Yeo reportedly got very frustrated with the management of his OP, and has funnily enough come back looking like Hamburgler recently. Naitanui is well.... Naitanui. The squad as a whole appears to be well and truly unfit, uncompetitive with the better teams and not able to run out matches properly....

Who else's fault is it? Lewis Jetta's?
I like how Rioli, a bloke with a history of hamstring issues, did his hamstring against Richmond and they misdiagnosed it as a corkie, wrapped it up with padding and sent him back out there for him to do some extra damage. Brilliant stuff.

Doesn't a corkie normally involve taking a blow to the leg? Did Rioli even get hit in the thigh?

I wonder how much of a draw card it can be to have a really professional / well respected S + C team
I'm pretty sure at least in part Joe Daniher wen to Brissie because of theirs

Is it worth going over the soft cap to get the best in the business?

I was a fan of the introduction of a soft cap and luxury tax but 75% as a starting tax rate was ridiculous.

I'm surprised the AFLPA allowed that.

Rioli was flaming it until and including the Collingwood game when he was flung into a point post at high speed. I was surprised that he got up and finished the game after this incident but he hasn’t been the same player since. I wouldn’t be surprised if his injury and subsequent lack of form and confidence wasn’t related to being pushed into the point post.

Crack at the extended squad:

In: Witherden, Williams, Clark, Nelson, Dixon
Out: Florenca, Mountford (sub)

B: Hurn, Barrass, Witherden
HB: Duggan, McGovern, Jones
C: Gaff, Kelly, Naish
HF: Cripps, Darling, SPS
F: Ryan, Kennedy, Waterman
R: Williams, Redden, West
I: Foley, Clark, Winder, Jamieson, Rotham (sub), Nelson (held over), Edwards, Dixon (WAFL)

Williams and Jamieson against Gawn and Jackson. What could go wrong?

Hopefully West and Clark get up because we’re very light on for running players after that.

AFLPA couldn't care less as it didn't impact player salaries (it certainly affects wellbeing though - but not sure they really go in to bat for that).

Clubs clearly know that if they purposely over-spend on the soft-cap it will become a hard-cap, so don't want to push it too far (an extra $50k or $100k the AFL are probably OK with, but $1-2m will just result in stricter measures).

That said, the team that makes a mockery of it will probably get a significant performance boost before it is scaled to a hard cap - so why not take the risk (whether that is better S&C staff, more development coaches etc. all would be of help now)
