Was stating that Boak would probably be the best fit for us in my opinion out of the players that are known to be on the table for the coming trade period. There is no chance of us getting him however.

I would of thought Goddard would be a better fit.
A big bodied mid that is versatile, good at clearances and a beautiful kick of the footy.
If Freo are making a play for him we should to, we have alot of money we have freed up this year, because
of Glass and Cox are on the veterans list.
We can offer him a genuine shot at the premiership which Freo still cant offer.
A Danyle Pearce for some outside run would be nice also.

Anyone else find it a bit sad if that's the last we see of Lynch? He's been great for the club, personally wouldn't have a problem with him playing even if he is going to leave, I want that flag!

The sentimental side of me would hate to see Lynch in another club's colours. Would be a shame but to be honest it won't be long before he's pushed out of the side by our plethora of returning forwards (Dick, LeCras, Nicoski) plus the younger KPF's in Lycett/McInnes/McGovern.

I agree Goddard is a great player but I feel his clearance work is somewhat overrated.
Can only see him playing through the guts of the midfield as a burst player over the course of a season. Additionally his best asset is his ability to read play and coordinate with his quality disposal. As a club we already have Hurn and Waters down back or Darling up forward playing in the roles he would likely fill so we would not have as much to gain from his services as many other clubs would.

Freo on the other hand would suit him very well, plus they have the familiarity of a coach he has performed well under previously. Still don't quite see him leaving Victoria though.

Pearce is the most likely available option for us - shouldn't cost too much you would expect and his ability to run and carry could prove handy.

I don't understand this. He's only played one average or poor game this year and the others have been at the very least decent, some quite good indeed...
Given his performance throughout 2009 and towards the end of 2010, I suspect he'd play quite well.

He's been OKAY but certainly still below Glass, Schofield and Mackenzie in the pecking order.

His performance in 2010 was dismal, however Woosha was very stubborn and didn't move him back to defence till after the year, when his confidence was battered after the forward line experiment.

That would be to the detriment of Josh Hill though?

I think he would be but just clarifying because there is an abundance of Hill fans on BF

Depends whether or not lynch is playing. Say he isn't then all of a sudden nicoski is best 22. Forwards would then be the two keys, resting ruckman plus hill, nicoski and lecras with hill and lecras taking turns between playing high half forward and forward fifty.

He's been better than okay especially considering that he hasn't had a chance to string games and form together

Now you're just making things up. He played at the tail end of 2010 in defence (following Glass going down to injury) and was playing well before he was injured.

He actually started 2011 off pretty well too, getting injured while doing a very good job on Buddy, so I'm not sure where you got these ideas of battered confidence from?

Moral of the story: whenever Mitch Brown has played in defence (throughout 2009, late 2010, early 2011, sporadically in 2012), he has played well and has been best 22 quality, and yet people still think he's a liability and "not up to it". Short, selective memories.

Would not mind seeing Hill play further up the ground more often. Don't think there's a place for him in his current role in 2013.

daniel rich to west coast , michael voss loves tom swift infact said he was the best 16 year old he ever seen, what would we have to give to get rich

good god. will this ever end. pity swift is not 16 and is one of the worst 23 yearolds (or whatever his age is) on an AFL list.

Smith - what's going on there? Until about halfway through the year I always got the impression he was a match committee favourite, but with Brennan jumping ahead of him in the pecking order things aren't looking too good.

Worsfold has some non negotiables and those that cant/dont wallow away their time in the 2nds.

It is a reflection on his character and possibly an indication as to why he slipped to his draft pick (after being widely regarded as a certain 1st rounder) - that a player of his skills has lost interest in his game. Compare that to Stevens who busts his tit at EF every week.

I suppose I'm talking a bit more about the engine room than Rosa, Sheppard, Embley etc.

Reckon you're under-selling it.

If Ebert was doing for us what he is currently doing at Port, he would be pretty handy.

Maybe. Bit early.

Sure, but the fact that none of those three have stepped up and become, for example, the quality of Scooter, is the root of that shortcoming. In Ebert's case he's improved, but only after leaving the club.

Has Ebert improved at Port ? Watching from afar his strengths are still apparent as are his weaknesses. He probably gets more of the ball, but that comes because

1) he is playing predominantly pivot which at Port like in most teams is a non accountable position
2) opposition teams only bother to tag Boak as he is the only midfielder at Port with any hurt value.

As to others you mentioned not stepping up, I have an opinion on this but whats your take - is it a reflection of ability or opportunity ?

Heard from my source that everyone is pretty certain Lynch will be leaving. It's a big reason why he didn't fly out this week, they reckon Pies have offered him a fair amount of $$$ and possibly a 2-year deal, which is what he really wants and he's already on board with it- this obviously hugely suggests Cloke will be leaving Pies as many of us suspect. Hopefully if it sadly happens we are able to leverage a deal for Wellingham.

Bad luck for Dawes if true. ;)
