I love that massive run, dodge, weave by Cooney and his kick basically to Glass's advantage and then Hurn gets it and off a step kicks further then Cooney ran and pin points it to 2 eagles! lol

Definitely shows how much we missed him this year.

Round 23 last year buddy kick 4 goals on brown in the first quater and we never recovered ! Wow talk about locking down , like a vice ! You say this was his best game ! No wonder they didn't play him on buddy this year then roughy flogged him as the alternate match up ! You say I'm back peddling ! Get your head out of the sand ! If proving your examples of brown being a good lockdown defender are false and he got flogged is back peddling then you still know jack !

He kicked 2 goals on Brown (one of which was a potshot from 60), Brown went off with a poke to the eye, Buddy kicked 2 goals on Schofield and Glass, Brown came back on and kept a previously rampaging Franklin goalless for the last three quarters ending up as one of our best on ground.
You still haven't come up with anything approaching a coherent and reasonable argument, or anything to refute that Brown is better than Schofield as a lock-down defender and Glass is better than Schofield as the third tall. You have nothing to back-up your claim that Brown was only being played because he was a sook, and seem to forget how poor Schofield's form was down back this season.
If Schofield played more like Michael Johnson, Josh Gibson or Andrew Mackie he would have a guaranteed spot, but as it stands he's either a key defender who struggles against tall forwards or a rebounding defender who only gets 12 touches a game. Lots of talent and potential, but has a lot to work on.

Who do you reckon in the gun to be delisted? Or have we had enough 'retirements' so far?

McGinnity? Newman? Morton? Not sure if those guys are worth persisting with.

This original statement was a comment referring to our lack of drive out of defence and we need a foil for hurn . I said we haven't had one since brown was put in defence taking schofield's spot in defence . I said nothing about schofield being a better lockdown player than brown or glass being a better third tall you did ! Lets look at browns season as a Lockdown defender
R2 on franklin had 5 goals against .
R3 on Mitch Clarke 3 goals against
R5 on westhoff 0.1 against ! Good game
R6 on stringer 1 goal against ( stringer injured Q2 subbed off )
R7 vs bris spare man in defence 10 disposals ( subbed at 3QT)
R9 on Tomlinson who scored 0 goals ( brown spent half game in fwd line for 0.2)
R10 on A . Edwards 1.1 ( brown subbed start Q3 poke in eye)
R 11 on Stanley 1.1
R13 on roughy 5.1 and set up 2
R14 on Hurley then Carlisle 2.1
R15 on McKernan 1.2
R16 on mayne 3 goals + 21 possies almost BOG
R17 on Jessie white 1 goal
R18 on jarrad grant 3 goals
R19 on Sam day 0.1
R20 on Ryder/belchambers 1.1
R21 on josh walker 1 goal
R22 on Ben Reid 4.1
R23 on otten 2 goals Before brown subbed start of 3 QT
So the only forwards of any distinction that he beat we're Westhoff , Ryder/bellchambers , and Jessie white ( maybe ) I understand that you can only beat who your assigned to but when he had to 'Lock Down ' on a decent forward he didn't ! Buddy , roughy , Reid , Clarke , Otten , Grant and Mayne all got the better of him ! A lot of those forwards aren't even the number 1 forward of the team . So pretty average season ! You say schofield cant play on tall fwds well neither can brown ! I stand by my comments that Emac , glass and schofield are a much better and balanced tall defence . I feel sorry for schoey for having to play out of position to accommodate brown !

I disagree with your assessment, quite strongly.

That's a very selective use of "facts"

As a very simple example - Buddy didn't kick 5 on Brown in round 2.

Not McGinnity. He is reliable and can play a role - more than can be said for many of them. I would like to see him play a shut-down role in defence sometimes too.
After watching Morton in WAFL GF I wouldn't be upset if he was cut. Newman strong possibility. Ash Smith traded out??

I wasn't going to put down all the stats for his opponent each game but a few of the games he didn't get many goals kick on him his opponent was said to be playing high half fwd or up the ground and had quite a few possessions
Brown was responsible for buddy round 2 glass had hale/ Baily and schofield was on roughy who kept him to 2 goals

I'm not sure if you are actually serious - you are talking about 4 posts in a thread of 17,000+
I think you mean four pages. It's back and forth about a minor issue completely irrelevant to the thread topic.

EDIT: huh, I was right - four pages on that nonsense.

This thread needs more draft talk. We've got a couple good picks people should be getting excited about. Who do people want?

Blake Acres needs to be a priority. :thumbsu:

Hopefully the speculation that Robertson won't be looked at within the first two rounds is accurate, would love to pick him up in the 40's.

Both will be big bodied inside/out midfielders with hurt factor.
