You shouldn't really judge Cale on that one game. He was good to very good in the last half dozen or so games. He has worked really are and with another preseason I think he will show the doubters that he is worth a spot on our list.

I couldn't disagree more. Is the best thread we have and its mega awesome. Covers every area of list management.
Blake Acres needs to be a priority.
Hopefully the speculation that Robertson won't be looked at within the first two rounds is accurate, would love to pick him up in the 40's.
Both will be big bodied inside/out midfielders with hurt factor.
Im all for acres, think he fills a need but 6 is a reach and he will be gone by our second (24-26 whatever it ends up at). Apparently geelong are mega keen.
robertson is definitely one we could hope for.

We need midfielders with genuine upside. Acres has this in spades. There's a reason Geelong are mega keen.
Dont think Acres is a reach its just because of his shoulder he missed a lot of games.
He is a beautiful kick of the footy has elite speed 2.90 20m has a 16 beep is 188 cm tall,
and is a good overhead mark.
He has the talent to be the next fyfe both have similar attributes.
I'd be dead keen to trade our 6, 24 and a player for say 10 and 14. I believe we could get both Sheed/Bontempelli and Acres with those 2 picks...or we could miss both

Problem for us is our recruiting has been terrible for quite a few years!
Why can we not identify talent in much later picks and work on developing any deficiencies?

I like Sheed but feel he is more of the same of what we already have. Taking him would be the typical, conservative WCE approach which is not necessarily a bad thing. I like Acres but his shoulder worries me at #6. He is a boom/bust pick. Bontempelli is the player I probably want the most.
I think Acres is more likely to succeed then Bontempelli in a midfield role. I like them both, but would probably take acres before Bontempelli.

One thing we have had success with is picking up players with shoulder problems with our first pick.

I want our 2nd round pick to get Achres if he slides or even take a punt on Cripps to add some bulk into the midfield.
I hope our recruiters aren't as WA focused as everyone in this thread is.
I think it's just this year that players picked to go between 5 and 30 that suit our needs are all from WA eg Sheed, Acress, Cripps, Marsh
Could end up with us only getting WA players including the rookies we upgraded...but i do hope we look outside the state.
I just cant see Acres sliding that much. On Cripps if we took Sheed I would rather we not draft him with our 2nd round pick. Instead would rather we target some speed and capacity to do damage. However if we took Acres I would be more then happy to get Cripps.
assuming no trades, I would be leaning towards;
pick 1: sheed
pick 2: hartung
pick 3: Jansen
alternatively
pick 1: acres
pick 2: cripps
pick 3: impey / D. Wilson
if we go deeper in the draft it's more speculative... would assume west coast would be willing to pull the trigger on WAFL or WA talent (maybe someone like Sokol)... but would like them to look elsewhere also. No interest in the shane nelson types.
Agree regarding Nelson as adds nothing at all to squad.
Hartung and Sheed combo could be good. If we do not get a big body in the midfield i say we go all out and get Tunbridge fit for the role in the midfield.
I think Jansen has a lot of upside, would be pretty happy if we got him in rnd 3.
