Who else has he tagged besides Cotchin recently?

Credit to him for that, but Cotchin has had an average year and it's wet weather footy so i'm not reading alot into that 1 performance. Nothing changes the fact Hutchings is a C grade WAFL level player. We can't have somebody like that in the 22 every week moving forward.

At least Wellingham could hurt the opposition going the other way. Still, it's not even a debate until Sharrod does something remotely useful in the WAFL.

Apparently he has been playing a tagging type role since the Sydney game, I could not name names but he has been pretty effective.
Look I agree that Hutch is never going to set the world on fire but he could easily be a Crowley type player for us.

Wellingham will be sat down at the end of the season and said your performances are not up to standard if you want an afl career you have 1 pre season and 1 season to lift your game or your out ! People won't be paying big dollars for a wafl hack
My bet he plays like Sh!t and we trade him for bugger all back to a Melbourne club so he can down hill ski for the rest of his career .
Prove me wrong sharrod ! Prove me wrong

So who are the legitimate Trade In/Free Agent Targets on the market?
Tom Mitchell?
Shaun Higgins?
Jeff Gartlett?

I'd take all three, but it's not going to fix the problems in current midfield ... Might have to focus on the draft unfortunately. Doesn't help that all the best West Aussies are playing on the gold coast!!!

Hutchings has had a good year and has been a good mid in most games deserves his spot IMO. Hutch could free up selwood next year which could be beneficial next year as selwood is a valuable player IMO and was injured in most games this year. Wellingham is lazy and skillful hutch works hard and is tough keep hutch get of rid of wellers IMO.

I would love Tom Mitchell on our list.

Hutchings tagged Hanley in the Bris game. Did an excellent job too. If you see what Pearce just did to GCS weekend just gone when off the leash you'll appreciate the effort even more

See how he goes against Sloane/Thompson/Danger (if not injured) this weekend

Tom mitchell for me would be one i would get big body and gets the ball may need to recruit speed and skill in the draft if we get mitchell is the only problem.

Freeing up Selwood doesn't exactly excite me. He's an average player, with no composure and below average skills. Can find the ball like Priddis, but i don't see him as being damaging. He's not unlike any of our other midfielders to be honest.

Hutchings is also in the same boat. One decent wet weather shutdown on Cotchin doesn't mean he can tag. Can you imagine him trying to quel the influence of Dangerfield, Ablett, Pendlebury, Jelwood etc etc? He doesn't have the attributes to match it with those players, so i don't see the tagging experiment lasting. Wellingham actually does.

Not knocking Hutchings effort though, like Mcginnity, he tries.

Will Keep this short and simple who's your picks for the 2014 draft

(This is what I would like to see on a realistic basis)

1st - jayden laverde (189cm 82kg) Mid/Def

2nd - Alec waterman (183cm 89kg)
Midfielder

3rd - Daniel caprion (189cm 80 kg)
Mid/Def

Rookie/Low draft pick - Ashton Dickenson (180cm 78kg) Mid/Def/fwd

Are we definitely getting waterman and is he a spud like Brennan turned out to be?

Re: Tom Rockliff

Is this the guy we should target to fix our midfield ? how much would it cost us ? would it be worth the hassle after pinching Yeo ? I personally think the answer is yes.

Throw 1 million a year for 5 at him and see what the Lions want in exchange, I would be prepared to basically give them anyone on our list even Kennedy. McGovern would be able to fill this whole easily and with Lycett, Naitanui and Sinclair being able to be a tall forward option we would miss Kennedy the least I think.

We don't need individual threads (with a poll) on every top-line midfielder who we're a microscopic but theoretically possible chance of recruiting if we threw half our salary cap at them and convinced them to break their contract. Thanks.

Brennan ws drafted with a late selection as a mature ager as no one else really wanted him with a higher pick.

Waterman is a highly rated junior predicted to go in the 10-15 range at this draft.

If you think they are alike, you need to learn more about the game.

Really?

Your not intelligent enough to pick up I asked a question because I didn't know something?
Thought you would have learned more about English in grade 1

Where did I say they were alike?

Blind Freddy could see what you meant, you're trying to be a pessimistic campaigner again and start the process of shitting on Waterman like you do everything else. Instead of being happy we're getting in a new talent with the potential of being a good pick up for us, you immediately link him to Brennan and his (lack of?) abilities to drag Waterman down with him.

It was an unnecessary and stupid comment to throw the Brennan spud line in.

He loves the Lions too much, would never leave. If he ever did, it would be back to Vic.

You have serious magical powers to know I was trying to be pessimistic?

I was asking a serious question and you call me a campaigner?

How do I tell you to go **** yourself without getting in trouble?

"Is Waterman a spud like Brennan" is a serious question?

Yes. See as I didnt know, it is.
I was wondering if we are getting him under f&s rule as I thought we got Brennan under f&s.

And was also wondering if he was good or not.

Ffs I know its Monday but enough with the grumpy ****.

But yeah he's absolutely the type we need

Big bodied, hard as nails, clerance machine, kicks goals

Amazing how he slipped through to the pre-season draft like he did. Credit to him for re-inventing himself though as he was originally a Ben McKinley style medium forward at TAC level.
