where's all this gaf talk coming from?

or is it just victorian media noticing that a melbourne born interstate based player's out of contract soon and concocting some bs trade rumour.

Melbourne want to trade pick 2 for a mid, people start throwing up names. Victorians playing for non Vic clubs are pretty easy suggestions.

Sorry, should have added IMO, As that is all I have to offer.
As for Gaff, "kid" will be a star. Another season of weights and has to work on his right side, he will be another West Coast All Aussie.

Gaff for pick 2
Smith and 24 for Melbourne pick 20
Pick 2 and 3rd rounder for yarran and pick 10
3rd compo pick for GC Third rounder ( which they won't use ) on traded for yeo
Yarran , yeo
Pick6 sheed
Pick 10 freeman
Pick20 Acres/Robertson/Marsh/Cripps
Looking for a long term rebuild, suggestions has some merit:)

If we don't get him, In 3 years time all you crew will be asking why we didn't take a monster mid when we could have. Sheed will be our "safe" pick and will be lucky to be as good as Pridda.
Well we really are in the shit then aren't we

Cause Ploddus scapes the bottom of the barrel as an oxygen thief. A cancer on this club.

Don't be sorry Hush Now, no one else on this board is. :p

I wasn't particularly smitten by Sheed to start with, I tend to get very skeptical about kids whose tyres are pumped up, but after watching him a few times I started to form a more positive opinion. I'm at the same stage of an opinion with Marsh, non committal, per se, as I was earlier in the year with Sheed.

Again, Monkey Worshipper, tone the attacks down, it get's you nowhere in changing people's opinions on him as a player.

Have a look at Sheed's kicking action, he can already kick 10 - 15 yards further than Pridda and most of them are low, flat drop punts, in my opinion his kicking action is similar to Simon Black's.
Looks an outstanding prospect!

Not having a go at Sheed mate.
Just thinking Marsh could be that big body mid we need.
Thinking Jack should be groomed for a mid role as well.

Saw a little bit of Marsh this year.
While I liked how he moved around the ground I'm not sure he gets it enough to be what you want him to be.
I think Bontempelli would be the preferable choice if you want a "big body mid" who will eventually average 20 or more disposals.

I heard on the radio today that the hawks are keen on darling and people are talking about gaff and shuey. are we trading our whole team? reality is nobody knows shit.

havent you heard, we have turned into Demons. Picks are more important than players. 2nd best player in a draft sounds alot better than 53rd best player in AFL.

as for gaff, he has had seasoned players sit on him every game. he hasnt fully developed yet to be able to push off, outrun these guys. once he fully develops physically, he will burn off these chumps. i dont think he has had a full preseason yet, that starts after 4th year doesnt it? before then they are severely held back due to the age.

so whats the worry?

I agree gaff is a superstar, who else in the afl gets the no1 tag every week in their 3rd year. what is he 20? does he even shave yet?

I'm not convinced it is. Kelly for instance who will likely go after Aish has been described as very similar to Gaff but has better athleticism. The point being I think there's a good chance the top few picks in this draft end up with a higher ceiling than Gaff.

Aish in particular reportedly has a level of impact with his possessions that our midfield lacks as compared to Gaff's death by 1000 cuts play style (his pre-draft description has turn out to be pretty accurate).

We would almost certainly take a step back in the short term. However given the majority of posters on this board now seem to think our next shot will come in 2015-2016 I think there's a pretty good chance that Aish ends up the better player for that window.

At the end of the day I'm not a recruiter so I can't make an informed judgement about the relative worth of pick 2 compared to Gaff. I would say though that in principle the idea of Melbourne paying a premium for a ready made player while we play a slightly longer game for a bigger payoff is appealing given where we are at.

They're juniors though and small, skinny types in their own right. Both Kelly and Aish are outside midfielders with Kelly being the more pure wingman like Gaff and Aish being a bit more of a small utility with more damaging disposal.

Why would they be so willing to give up pick 2? and if your right why would they go for Gaff if not to eliminate the risk associated with the draft? None them are blue chip pure midfielders which is what they really need and probably what Melbourne are after.
