Slightly off topic but still trade related

When was the last time we traded with Fremantle?
Have we ever?
Not the last time but probably the greatest....

As per the 1995 rules, we traded Tony Godden to the Dockers for the rights to a pre-draft youngster.

We went with a raw, skinny, pony-tailed, highly skilled forward, Aboriginal 16yo from Healesville outer Melbourne called David Wirrpanda.

A credit to us for development but more importantly Wirra for getting thru the "go-home" & debated cultural issues by making Perth his home and becoming a community leader and West Coast Premiership legend.

Freo....... thank you. (that really hurt to say.....)

Anyone checked our KM's most recent phantom? He's shaken things up a little. Langford at 5 was interesting.

His picks for us:
11. Cockatoo. IMHO hard not to pick Wright when he slides there.
32. Declan Hamilton. I'd have gone with Touk Miller, Petr Bampton or Maynard there. Oscar McDonald is fantastic value there too...
51. Oleg Markov. Nicw pick, but think Clem Smith is just too good to pass up here.
69. Waterman. Too early - Cripps, Abbott, Gregson, Deluca or Bevan would be my preference.

I like Mackenzie and wouldn't mind him if Rainbow or Miller are gone.

Is it just me or is Viojo-Rainbow criminally underrated. IMHO, on merit, he should go top 15. I think he has the attributes to be one of the best players from this draft - though I think it will be as a defender (not a mid).

I've been thinking that exact same thing for a while. If we weren't in such dire need of "X factor" and the **** and Pickett were both gone, i'd almost prefer taking Rainbow over Duggan with our first.

Is it just me or do more people get the impression that nobody seems to have a clue what's going to happen this draft (myself included). I can't take any of these phantoms very seriously because I feel like people are just copying each other. I'm prepared for a few suprises in the top 10.

As for our pick I'm preparing for a melt down and a few people to be "foaming at the mouth" on this board when we pass by cockortwo. I agree it might "suck"to not be able to "pick him up" but he could be a "pain in the ass" if we can't get "him out to bat" so to speak due to his injuries. I'll admit he's a large excitement machine and impressive looking the way he slides through traffic and splits things open tho. I heard the other day he goes a little limp in the wet. So anyways my point is that our speculations are a bit premature and we will have to see how our selectors perform in picking up a cockatoo

I'd be more than happy to pass through this draft period without taking any KPPs, HBFs or HFFs. Happy to grab a project ruck and/or FPs/BPs in the rookie draft.

Midfielders or GTFO.

Happy to pass on KPP's. But I don't see a clear distinction between mids and flankers.

Pickett, Duggan, Cockatoo are all flankers.

I still think Durdin sounds attractive as a KPD who can ruck.

Assuming De Goey goes top 5 - I reckon our preferences should be:

Cockatoo
Duggan
Durdin
I agree with Durdin.

It could be years before we get another crack at a highly credentialed KPP.

As you say he fills the need as a back up ruck and KPP back and forward.

Might be years before we NEED another highly cred KPP. It's a mids game. I would be fine if we used every draft pick for the next 2 drafts on best av mids. Look how well port did this year. KPP s are overrated in my opinion and there is no point stocking up on Talls for a future where our midfield will be bottom 5 in the comp.

if we were offered say buddy, roughie and Nick R or whoever u deem the top KPP in the comp right now would u seriously take them over say the 8th 9th and 10th best mids in the comp? Sure it's tempting but do we play JK jack etc in the WAFL or have a team of giants? Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about but I think we should always target weaknesses especially when it's the most important weakness a team can really have

I'd take Buddy over most top midfielders currently playing.

Going on that description I think flankers are what we need more than midfielders.

I would put money on us taking a tall that slides this year with our first.. there seem to be some highly rated ones with queries on them that might make them slide.

Lol your comments.
The concerns on DeGoey are still there, his production has been very low at TAC level and has more handballs than kicks.
He has a similar game to Laverde and with GWS looking to pick up Laverde at pick 4, makes sense a Langford or DeGoey to be picked at 5.
Both those boys have questions whether they can become mids.
Its a reach yes but a considered one.

Does this post have a point? There are concerns on every player.

Cockatoo - An unlikely gamble. It could happen but with the recruiting team being put on notice it would be a very brave move by them.
Hamilton - Interesting selection. Most have him later but he played well from what I saw. Could be a sleeper.
Markov - I doubt he is there. To me he is the same kind of prospect as Menadue - only Victorian bias has Menadue much higher.

Markov may be available at 52. Expected to go sometime in the third round.

I had a dream about Touk Miller last night. I've never seen a picture of him, or even read anything about him, but in my dream he had a ponytail and a homeless beard. He looked like he was on Centrelink and spent his days surfing.

Can the season hurry up, please?

That's okay... your tears say more than real evidence ever could.

That wasn't a dream apparently after coming out of centrelink he bashed an old man stole his wallet and used it to get high.......not to mention a friends cousins mothers brothers friend told me he knows jack darling..

..Despite this I'm willing to risk pick 69 on him
