Slightly off topic but still trade related

When was the last time we traded with Fremantle?
Have we ever?

Harding for Metropolis, nil all draw.

Before that it was Phil Matera and pick 3 for David Hynes

Last trade was a direct swap of Daniel metropolis for Greg Harding I think back when judge was coach

Traded fewster to them for a draft pick that netted us Phil matera (edit it was Haynes we traded per fivers post above used pick 3 on fewster)

Got a compo pick for trading godden to them which we used to get wirra

That's off the top of my head so could be wrong / missed somebody

They got us back by sending broadbridge to us as a skills coach

At pick 11, we're not going to get both.
Duggan compares elements of his own game to Pendlebury.

I can see where he's coming from to a point.

Never rushed, great decision maker, great kick and one thing that hasn't been mentioned is his vision by hand which is very good.
Quick thinkers are a valuable commodity.

I really, really rate Weller but I feel at AFL level, he'll be limited in the roles he could play due to his size.
Albeit, he'll be bloody good at what he does.

Duggan isn't Vanilla, he is however silky smooth.

I'd prefer pace, the ability to break lines, explosiveness, x-factor, blah blah blah over elite disposal then. Silky smooth vanilla is still vanilla. We have enough vanilla.

I'm probably on my own with preferred selections for our first pick.. a little outside the box.. mind blowing even.

First choice Pickett with Cockatoo as a backup.

So you're saying we need a little mars bar flavour from Simos?

Who?

What picks were Neale and Sutcliffe? I don't deny that the odd good choice is jagged but it's not normal. Not percentage play.

Walters (#53)
Neale (#58)
Sutcliffe (#71)

Late picks at West Coast.

2006
Will Schofield (#50) - Elite athlete with good skill base, lots of physical upside. High reward.

2007
Pattrick McGinnity (PSD) - Unskilled midfielder stopper/ defender. All Australian U18. Low reward.

2008

Jordan Jones (#52) - Dour medium defender, Limited midfield potential never realized. Low reward.

2009
Ryan Neates (PSD) - Speedy small midfielder, limited midfield potential at AFL level and not a forward. Low reward.

2010

Blayne Wilson (PSD) - Hard at it, highly skilled but slow and undersized key position player. All Australian U18. Medium reward.

2012
Adam Carter (#59) - Small Defender, limited physical upside. Low reward.

Mark Hutchings (#60) - Mature age midfielder, middling athlete with little towards no upside. Low reward.

2013

Dylan Main (#49) Tall versatile utility with midfield potential, skilled, physical upside. Medium high reward.

Do you think he'll avoid a delisting 12 months from now?

Would love it if he did.

I suspect we'll see the end of Butler, Hill and McGinnity, so it probably wont be a forced delisting as that is 3 changes. A good year in the WAFL should be enough to get him a third year.

Reading this list tells me it's worth using the late pick on Kane Lucas

I'm hoping that Newman can do a Walters and just come out of nowhere and have a big impact !
Also found it funny that Newman has pumped to much iron . Well that's what prison does ;)

2014
Kane Lucas (#69)- Mature age outside midfielder, athletically strong with a solid kicking action at training. Deer in headlights under pressure, inability to adapt to the pace of AFL. Limited potential never realised, low reward.

The problem with Lucas isn't a skills thing, or even an ability to put his head over the ball. He just doesn't appear to have the ability to translate his game to the speed of AFL football. His kicking skills desert him, and he has no awareness. I don't think it's really a development issue either, after 6 years on an AFL list he should have made some progress towards fixing this issue.

From the contracts thread, players who aren't contracted beyond 2015 :

Wellingham
Waters
Ellis
Butler
Hill
Cripps
Tunbridge
Mcinnes
Mcginnity

Sheed
Karpany
Barass
Main

Shuey
Selwood

If main can't get himself playing regular league games for east perth then he's in danger of being cut because with Newman and maybe maginess likely to push their claim for an elevation of the rookie list and Zane sumich and Jordan matera possible F/S selections we already need to delist up to 4 players before making room for 2 or 3 draft selections

So 6 or 7 delistings may be required pending any possible trading of contracted players

No idea. I'd like to see him retained because he was a long term prospect and is playing a host of different areas and roles.

Quite the opposite in my mind, though it's also draft dependent. You take a late more speculative pick with the best mix of attributes you can find. Which in my mind is the opposite of Lucas, he has some unfavorable attributes and I see no ambiguity regarding Lucas and his abilities.

Lucas has been in the system for five seasons, been found wanting in a lot of aspects of his game and while you know he can produce to a standard, it's not particularly high. It's not the type of list management decision that improves your list. Why delist the likes of Wilson, Carter and Brennan in the first place?

If Ratten was still in charge of Carlton i'd be a little less concerned about Lucas. But it was Malthouse that threw him on the scrap heap and that's something i can't really ignore. Carlton have saved us the time of drafting him.

Need to consider him against players who may still be available at pick 69 - josh Deluca, Mitch McGovern and Brendan abbot are 3 that come to mind and whilst I'm intrigued to see if Lucas can come good I'm not convinced he necessarily offers more than giving one of those guys a crack. I'm also sure there's plenty of others that the club would be looking at

I still think Durdin sounds attractive as a KPD who can ruck.

Assuming De Goey goes top 5 - I reckon our preferences should be:

Cockatoo
Duggan
Durdin

Sheed, Cripps and Karps almost certainties to be extended.

Shuey and Selwood certainties unless they want trades.

Ellis and Waters will be extended dependent upon their bodies (smart money says one is forced to retire, most likely Waters).

Tunbridge and McInnes walking a very fine line, will have to push for senior selection to avoid delisting.

Hill, McGinnity and Butler almost guaranteed to be delisted bar miraculous turn arounds by them.

Wellingham I have no idea what to say. Has the talent and tools, appears to lack application. Needs a big 2015, although it wouldn't surprise me if he was gone at the end of the year.

I haven't seen Barass or Main at all, so I have no idea. I'm a fan of giving draftees a third year regardless, unless they're just not coming on at all.

Probably wont struggle to find 5/6 to delist I wouldn't have thought. Sinclair might also finally realise he's not going to get a game and request a trade.
