2010 Pettard maybe 2012 Pettard no

I thought Petterd showed a great deal in 2011 as well. It suggests to me that he plays better in a good side, as Melbourne were a lot better in 2011 than 2012. I actually picked him to take his footy to the next level in 2012 but well...nothing really worked well for the dees. We are currently a better and more stable side than the Dees were in 2011 so he could be a really good pick for us next year.

Yes I can see how all you are saying is correct..
I think someone will pick him up, just not sold on him for us tbh

Lucas Cook 196cm 20 yearold hasn`t been given a chance and has had injury problems, no. 12 draft pick
would have to be worth a punt. Has got a fantastic pair hands and just needs to put some weight on and a bit
of TLC.

Failed at VFL level, that was the chance he got. Ended the season in the Scorps' 2's before being called back for Fitzpatrick who went for surgery.

I watch a bit of Melbourne.
Cook no.
Bate does your head in as he just goes through the motions.
Bennell is not much chop.
Pettard easily the best of that lot but you do have to wonder why he got the arse?

Couldn't be bothered making another thread but maybe we could make this thread about all delisted players.

Players who would interest me:
- Gerrick Weedon
- Lucas Cook
- Cameron Wood
- Luke Rounds
- Jonathon Ceglar
- Matt Campbell
- Daniel farmer
- Piers Flanagan
- Hayden Jolly
- Jared Moore
- Jacob Surjan

All of these guys would have to be rookies as I don't consider them good enough for our national draft picks and they defiantly wouldn't be in our best 25 but they might make good depth(maybe). There are also a few high draft choices from that list who i haven't see play for there reserve side but they may just need an opportunity though we may not be the right club for that now.

Wouldn't mind Weedon. Very talented, and has real x-factor about him. Pick 22 in the ND, and would be a long term replacement for Nahas. Chuck him on the Rookie List, or pick him up in the delisted free agency.

Did well in this year NAB Cup to didn't he? But didn't appear to get much of a chance in the home and away season.

Yeah he did well. Showed signs he could form a real strong small forward duo with LeCras, but for some reason or another, wasn't given a game. Might have been injured. However, I would love him on the list.

This is Quigley's review of him in his Mock Draft:

Gerrick Weedon
Height: 183cm, Weight: 80kg, DOB: 25/05/91

An indigenous guy who is rated very highly by some and not at all by others. I am a bit in between and whilst I see talent there I am a bit unsure about him for some reason. He is a Broome boy who played for Claremont this year and attracted a bit of attention. He is one of those laconic indigenous players who seems to be going at half pace whilst everyone else is going full bore. It looks like he has time when ever he gets the ball and that is a fantastic skill in itself.

He has played mostly as a half forward this year and he is very dangerous up there. He is very confident in himself and what he can do and pulls out a bit of magic every now and then. He is a very solid guy with a bit of puppy fat on him who is powerful through the legs and has a nice low centre of gravity. He is strong in the contest, has good balance and holds his feet well. When the ball hits the ground he is very good and is a player who can come in at pace, scoop the ball and keep going without breaking stride.

Overhead he is rated highly by his coach and from what I have seen he looks pretty good in this regard although I am not sure he would be a big leaping contesting mark type player. He tends to judge his arrival at the ball to best advantage and is strong enough to keep the opposition player away. His kicking is reasonable and neither a particular strength nor a particular liability.

He does tend to kick it long to contests a little too much and he needs to lower his eyes a bit. He is not a run down threat up forward and his defensive effort generally needs some work. There seems to be consensus that he can move into the midfield and his ability to read the ball off hands would suggest that this could well be on the cards. He has very good ability to hold his feet in the tackle and clear his hands which should hold him in good stead if he goes to the middle.

He will need to work on his athleticism though no matter where he plays. At this stage he looks like someone who has played solely on natural talent and has never done any specialist sprint, endurance or jumping work. His endurance was poor at Camp and I can see a lot of pain for him getting this up to AFL standard. His agility was pretty good and his pace average.

Off his right he is good but off his left and off two feet he was pretty poor. Overall I think this is a kid who has a lot of talent and one who has shown a lot of development this year and yet seems to have hardly have scratched the surface. You have to think one club at least will take a punt on him given he has a bit of the Motlops about him.

Looking at his first two picks for Richmond, I would love for that to have eventuated, but it didn't.

Martin AND Fyfe, the clear 2 standouts from that draft.

On the Melbourne guys, does Nathan Jones come out of contract next year? He would be a great replacement for Tucky and will be now be a FA. Year younger than Lids I believe. Easily the best dees player this year but if they are paying so much to Clarke/Dawes etc maybe we could put in a great offer and snag him. Just a thought.

What went wrong with Petterd to see him delisted?

Don't mind Weedon as a prospect but I think he has some homesickness issues being in Perth from Broome. Hate to think how he goes in Melbourne.

Fixed. And Jolly will go to Port. Has he been delisted or just refusing to sign on?

As I said in my previous post Weedon will struggle in Melbourne from what I've heard.
Rounds is a solid size and as a rookie would be worth the punt as depth.
Ceglar is a reasonable prospect. Was part of the Krakouer deal from memory.
Flanagan is the one I want. Can play all over the ground, good skills but bit injury prone.
Surjan would give us backline depth. Back-up to Morris.

Weedon who is from regional WA got home sick while playing for WCE in PERTH and quit the club.

It's safe to say you can cut him off your list.

Edit - Tigs beat me to it

the tiges did talk to pettered earlier in the year , they would have taken him if they didn get knights... and pettered would have rather been delisted than stay at melb ,he knows his future is elswhere ..rookie spot would do for me :)

Mentioned this earlier in another thread.
I definitely think it would be worth a look.
Could be very handy for us as some midfield depth, especially with Tuck having his last year (potentially) next season and Foley obviously injury prone.
Would we have to delist one more player in order to fit him on our playing roster?
