Jason Gram sacked apparently.
Might as well ask now if we would consider it, before another thread gets started anyway.
Our board is starting to look like a recycled players brothel.
I certainly would not consider him.

Very shady sounding character

If still available when we are picking rookies, then I would have him. More than likely, we will be picking up 3 young players with our draft selections, so would not mind Lonergan as a backup.

Very strange move by Essendon. Bit of a heart and soul player, which they don't have hanging off the rafters. A couple of years ago he had something like 11 clearances against us. You don't lose that overnight. Think he deserves another chance.

He's definitely worth the look.

The likely reason he got delisted would be due to his limitations. He has no problem winning a contested ball, but he doesn't have the accumulation abilities of a Boyd nor does he have that extra second or two that a Jobe Watson has.

Though at 25, it was unlikely he would improve anymore so he unlucky got the chop. I would've let Prismall go before him, but what do I know?

Hardly the case Captn. Edwards definately, Knights maybe and Chaplin certainly not!

Need inside depth. When foley went down we were exposed there this year. Would be very happy with either Longergan or Pettard.
Well it would seem that way, but at the end of the day, we still got enough inside 50's to win most of our games. Our main deficiency was our forward line, second tall to be precise.

yeah dont mind lonergan. why did he get delisted? maybe our friend slatts could shed some light on this?
He is a bit stiff to get delisted, especially since PRismall's still on the list, and he'd be VERY stiff not to get a gig somewhere (Dogs, Dees, GWS should be in the queue before you guys), but he was literally the last guy re-contracted last year. So he was on notice.

Never really developed his tank. I think that's the rationale. GREAT first quarter player... but just fades out. If you watch a lot of our games earlier in the season, he does a lot of damage early... not doing much after that doesn't matter much, with a defendable lead on the board.
When we weren't clicking, and had to really grit out matches, he is not a heap of use, he doesn't keep coming back at you like a Hocking or Myers (even though they haven't had much better form) will.

Guys like Tuck/Carrazzo don't have a heap more 'talent' for the game, but they are fitness machines.

Not greatly polished by foot, but I don't see that as his biggest issue, more that he doesn't get involved much on the spread and fades out. Does kick the odd goal, and has lined up as a tackling forward (like a Matt Thomas sort of role) quite a few times, handy 2nd string to his bow.

That said, the one single player I would not want to dive in head first against... that noggin is a WRECKING BALL.

And as I've been trying to say for about 2 years... we do actually have a bunch of midfield prospects... some very good ones... they just haven't put it together. This puts a lot more pressure on the likes of Melksham, Kavanagh, Browne, Myers. Which might hurt short-term but long-term, IMHO, is a good thing, as we need to find out.

Personally, if we lose a couple of mids, I'd prefer to throw in the young guys we already have and see what they've got. Although I don't mind Lonergan, I think what Slattery_20 has said rings true, and I just don't see him making much of a difference, as compared to giving an Arnot, Helbig or new draftee a go.

Is Arnot much of a chance to make it?

Pretty much. Right now he's better than <insert generic kid here> - yours or ours. But in another year or two, odds are he'll still be the same, who knows how good the kids can be.
If Tuck didn't make it through pre-season, you should look at him (or someone like him). But that'd be the only situation.

Hard to know with Arnot, copped an injury second half last year, others would've seen more of him than me. But definitely a similar style player as Lonergan. At least if he gets a go, we'll find out one way or the other.
