I think people get nervous he is gone purely on the basis that people rarely sign on post season. I think the Gaff situation is unique though as he is probably giving as much time as possible to judge his dads health, and the brayshaw incident would have delayed any contract stuff anyway.

Its interesting that basically every WA journo says 50/50 at worst, with many saying he is more likely to stay. Very different to say a lachie neale, where everyone believes he is gone.

I think its far from a certainty that gaff is gone

With the Lycett call now made plus Kelly up in the air Gaff may well also be holding out for a final offer $$$ wise.

His dad's health could also be a factor.

I think now that all the crap is settling down; Gaffy will realise how much he loves the Eagles.Even near the end of last year people within the club were saying how close the players were and how something special was brewing. the success we've had this year reinforces that.When you have success and can see more coming and its happening with a pack of your best mates i think it would be very hard to leave.My money is on him staying!

Bear with me folks - I dare to dream!

Gaffy and Lycett both have agreed to re-sign with WCE & we have an 'offer' in with Kelly (of Geelong fame) which is getting a favourable airing in the Kelly camp.

WCE just trying to juggle the offers so they are 'fair' and relatively equitable (AKA Clarko and Hawthorn keeping the gang together to achieve premiership glory) before going back to all parties and letting them know what is affordable.

We do have a few big irons in the fire at the moment and the number crunchers will be working overtime.

And.....don't forget we will need a (maybe 2) Jordan Roughhead type player/s irrespective of Lycett's intentions.

As I said lots of number crunching going on.

Gaff will stay, I've seen this all before.

There was the same speculation about Blayne back in 2015, but at the end of the day he led the Brumbies to a maiden flag the following season.

Exact same thing is happening with Gaff.

For someone based in WA and (like a couple of us on the board) know people at the Eagles, it seems kinda random that pants would have a source at North, out of all the Victorian teams in the league.
