I'm the opposite, I've basically given up on the idea of Kelly playing for us in 2019.

Though the club has consistently surprised me all year, so anything is possible.

Yeah. the posturing by Geelong, not just recently but over the last few months suggest that. I gather Kelly would much rather return to Perth but is prepared to stick it out for another season if required

Yeah I was confident for the most part of Trade Century but the more it goes on the more it seems that Geelong are asking an insanely high price that they don’t expect us to accept because they plainly do not want to release him at all.

Yep I have the feeling Geelong a rating him so far that it's simply not reasonable to trade for him.

Got no problem with that he is a contracted player.

But there really isn't anything WC can do now.

I don't actually have a problem with how Geelong (the football club) have handled it. If the situation was actually dire enough to require an immediate trade halfway through his contract, he wouldn't have said that his choices were West Coast or staying in Geelong for a year. Freo would have at least gotten a look in.

If the situation's not desperate, then Geelong are within their rights to demand well overs or hang onto their player, as we have done in the past with Mitch Brown.

On the other hand some of their fans have been complete arsehats.

Unless there's a secondary issue with somebody at Fremantle other than 'Freo are shit lol'. Maybe there is someone currently at the club that he doesn't want to associate with because it will mean trouble for him.

So the chances of landing a gun from 20 on are 3 in 50.
Sound like good odds

Oh so someone else drafted a player at that pick in another year? Oh yes, that must mean the pick will be shithouse.

Some of the number 1 draft picks over the last 11 years:
2007 Matthew Kreuzer

2008 Jack Watts

2009 Tom Scully

2010 David Swallow

2011 Jonathon Patton

2012 Lachie Whitfield

2013 Tom Boyd

2014 Paddy McCartin

2015 Jacob Weitering

2016 Andrew McGrath

2017 Cameron Rayner

How many A grade guns can you find here? Is the number 1 pick shit as well? Probably is for Geelong fans.

If you use last years trading period as a guide to player value, the Cats have well and truly got their heads stuck right up their ar*es.

Last year
Devon Smith went for pick 11
Jake Lever 10
Impey 34
Gibbs 10 and 26
Stringer 25 and 30
Ablett 19
Saad for a future second rounder
Schache 25 and 40

This year
McGovan 13
Hannaberry 28 and a pick swap
Aaron Hall. 68
Shield looks like will go for 9
Wingard 18 plus a player
Polec & Pittard 11 plus future pick

2016 Trade Period
Brad Hill 23
Tom Mitchell 14 & 52
Caddy 24 & 64

So how the hell is a first year mature age player worth Pick 10 in a very strong draft.

Yeah this, if the shoe was on the other foot we'd be doing the same thing.

He isn't, but you have to remember the two biggest industries in Geelong now that Ford is gone is Centerlink and meth.

It’s pretty obvious that Geelong have absolutely no intention of trading Kelly with out us offering significant overs.

In many ways I do understand their position, they are rolling the dice for one last hoorah with this current group and they get to keep Kelly who is A grade talent that only costs them 120K plus match payments, so that a bargain basement deal.

We enquirerd , gave it our best shot , put up a fair offer, it’s been rejected.

We move on , we realign and focus on the defence of the Cup.

While disappointing ....... and I do acknowledge that Kelly would have been a fine acquisition to our playing stocks as well as bolstering our midfield,........ It wasn’t to be.

We have made two grand finals in the past four seasons, lost one , won one ....all done with out Kelly playing for us.

He was a want not a need.

Besides we have already regained an A grade midfielder who wasn’t in our last finals series ..... Mr Andrew Gaff.

Honestly there’s a strong likely hood that All of Valente, Stack, Hill, Dursma, Smith, O’Halloran are avaible at our picks I’d be hanging onto the 20,22. Also could net a good slider

Is it too early to start talking down how good Kelly is? Probably not, I'll get started.

What's the deal with Kelly his obsession with trades?

He's a qualified electrician off the field.

He's a certified ball butcher on the field.

He's trying to get traded from the only club ever to watch him play WAFL.

The Cats can keep him!

And this is why we should all relax and enjoy.

We're in a great spot.

Must use one of the picks on a player that strengthens our list whilst we are in contention.

Seemingly we should be offering 22 to GWS if we don't get Kelly, snatch Lobb from Freo @ 23 or at least to force them to use 11.

Lose Lycett, gain Lobb, Gaff, Shepard and maybe NN. Happy days.

Hogan to Freo will hurt.

I think it was suggested that this trade would go down to the last minute, looks like they were right. I would be surprised if it doesn’t happen, what team wants a disgruntled player running around in there group.
Also Geelong really expose themselves to bad press should anything happen to the Kelly family unit during that 12 months, not something I would be risking from a club point of view.
