I'm pretty sure every Freo supporter had that reaction.
Basically do what Lyon does and back them to improve;I was 100% certain he would bang it.Would not have been a fortnight ago.

Yeah right. I've said it before, despite my nerves, I love Barlow's mental fortitude.

In the end of the day he's a starting 18 AFL footballer in a finals bound team. He's just got to back himself as that's what he's in the team to do. He's a tall hard running midfielder, the ball was there to be marked and goal. Doesn't matter what you've missed or not missed before. Grab the thing and kick the goal, that's what you do!!

... and that's what he did :D

When he grabbed it PapaJ I thought about his story/the grinding history;I honestly had no doubt.

I am over the moon that the boys managed to win, especially the fact my uncle, who was a massive Dockers fan, passed away last night (I like to feel that the win was dedicated to him) and going to a mates place who had 12 Eagle fans and only me as the Dockers fan, was great.
This team tests my patience sometimes but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Just watched the replay and must admit that I noticed Barlow a lot more second time around. Really works hard. I think Barlow, Hill and Mayne deserved the RG Medal.

The reason I'm posting is because upon watching the replay, two rater ugly incidents came to my attention that I didn't really notice the first time around. First, the reason why Hill got in Lecras face was because Lecras half-attempted to chicken wing him Judd-style after Hill's kick sailed through for a goal. We all know that Hill's shoulders are a little fragile. Seems like a bit of a dog act to target them, especially from a guy with a broken arm.

The second incident was directly after Pavlich marked that ball fifty out directly in front. Sheridan was also in the marking contest and was lying on his stomach trying to get up. Not sure who the Eagles player was (think it may have been Brown) but whoever it was decided to get up using Sheridan's back as a platform. His knees and all his weight was driectly on the lower back of Sheridan. Incidentally the Eagles player had no reason to even touch Sheridan as he got up because he was never on top of him.

And Eagles supporters call Crowley and Ballantyne dirty cheats...

Sandi monstered our 2 rucks all day long and your clearance was exceptional, well done Freo. Fyfe was quiet which surprised me but just how your 3 main mids work together at Ruck stoppages is first rate and Hill was very impressive also. We just don't have it to compete for 4 quarters, dated gameplan and too many passengers.

Yeah I saw both of those. Dirty ****ers, the lot of them.

Dare I say it, I think you guys have hit the dreaded "tipping point" Ross spoke about earlier in the year. It's hard to work any kind of game plan when you are changing the cattle week after week.

Having said that, they had a red hot crack and that's all you can ask.

Watched the replay and Ballantyne seemed to be absent for most of the game. Literally that is, first he spent about 15 minutes off with the gauze shit being put on his lips, and he kept coming off to muscle cramps massaged until he actually ended up not coming back for the majority of the last quarter.

Is it just me or do we tend to play better in either the sunshine or heavy rainfall? It's those overcast, chilly conditions that always seem to slow us done and cause more injuries. For example, we started the season off well enough last year, then in the bulk of the winter we had a huge slump; and started our comeback heading into spring.

Probably pretty hopeful to pin our success and failures on Australian weather though. Dickhead.

Poor 2nd and 3rd quarters IMO. Same as the Saints game last week. Poor decision making and poor work rate hurt us big time and we saw the fruits of our labour in the last when we fixed it.

It was a great game to watch but I just wish we would start playing earlier. Better teams would have beaten us the last 2 weeks.
If you read Worsfolds post game he says - they felt they had to try and win the game early and that his players gave everything they had and ran out of gas. Same with the saints. We are backing ourselves to play right till the end of games and win when it counts.
I said this last week. They are all trying it but not many teams are going to be good enough to win like this. You have to play 4 quarters to win these days and that means periods of containment. Look what happened earlier in the year when we were smashing the likes of Essendon in the first half then running out of gas.

The key to being a good side is how well the opposition plays when things aren't going your way.

In that regard I think Freo are doing OK, but not greatly.

That is fair but, as one other person has already suggested, we seem to be tweaking the game playing at the moment toward higher scoring as well as carrying a couple of less that match fit players.
Everything is as it needs to be, even McPharlin getting some time off is a blessing in disguise. He always breaks down toward the finals and this year we will get him back cherry ripe at the right time.
The offensive/defensive balance is just swinging around a bit. I'm liking the style we are playing and expect it to be finely tuned by showtime in September.

Anyone else happen to notice Embers drop the knee into - I think it was Walters' stomach, when getting off him after a tackle, in the 1st or 2nd qtr? He was getting up, off of him and I called it in my mind just by the possie he was in - "here it comes" and sure enough.. The twat can't help himself.

I'm pretty sure your uncle is up there in a comfy chair, having a couple of frothies with Matt Price & friends, chatting to the footy gods.

I don't know why some players are deciding to hold onto the ball under pressure than give it off to someone when clearly they will get tackled,De boer and Pav are just 2 examples that happened this week.
Happy with the win and the first and last qtrs showed that they are still working hard to get it done.
Had to laugh at the cheer they gave NN when he picked up the ball and gave a little handpass off and
we had an idiot 4\5 rows in front stand up when they kicked a goal and gave the bird with both hands to everyone around. They also showed their class by boooing ballas off when injured.
