Whispers, I do believe that Richmond have finalised their practice matches for the lead up to round 1. My sources tell me they have a game next weekend against a team from the Northern Football league, followed by a game at Phillip Island and then stepping it up and finishing off with a game against a team from The Goulburn Valley Football League.

With the number of clearences that they have put through I think it may cause a few headaches in the selection room come round 1.

Any truth in the 'whispers' I hear that the boys from KB had a rather large bonding session at the richmond union bowls club on the weekend. The session resulted in the team being asked to leave and one new recruit pouring a beer on the head of a bowling club member who was working behind the bar.......Responsible serving of alcohol?

Also another recruit believed to be a new member of the leadership group sprinting the length of the bowls green to smear half an avacado in the face of the clubs spiritual leader and fearless captain??? :D

sounds like this new recruit could be more harm than good this year.

i too heard reports that he made an interesting first impression on the sauce, maybe should stick to the lights at club functions from now on.

Who are you? The narrator?

well said, wouldnt think that it is necessary to be giving the rest of the league ammunition to use against certain players!

However there are about 100 new recruits so he hasn't been all that specific! Was a great day, things didn't get out of hand, a couple of silly things were done which always happens at functions but it is the best way for so many new players to bond and the team only benefited out of it from my opinion!

I believe that what goes on at the Bowls club, should stay at the Bowls club. Best of luck to the stationmasters this season. You've spent a long time in the cellar and, by now, deserve to jump up the ladder a bit. Bowls clubs are, in my experience, full of tossers. (who bowl underarm!)

The distinct smells of deep-heat, freshly cut grass and last seasons boots are back in the air... thus the time for whispers27 to open this forum up in terms the season dawning upon us.

I am not in any position to make any ladder predictions as due to the sporadic nature of the teams this season with their respective recruiting.

It seems that the Snake Pit are up and about, and I for one, will be interested if all the murmurings actually will equate to on-field success.

Slurpee01 your expertise would be interesting to hear, re the season 2011.

Ill be battling the traffic over the West- Gate to see Captain Cook boys train tonight, as the word is that they have been ST-ruggling for consistent numbers...

Whispers out.

Whispers it seems my last post ruffled a few feathers. I apologise and will now filter the information that passes over my desk here at HQ.

Lets not get carried away, we are still a few weeks away from the first bounce and the piercing sound of the umpire blowing his whistle.

I am more interested in where I could watch an interesting practice match in next couple of weeks.

Recruiting seems to have slowed down with most teams finalising squads etc.

Norfolk...you post that RAFC have again put pen to paper with a few more players?

Any truth in the rumour that Ben Cookson from Manningham will be having the year off after a long cricket season with Hawthorn at district level. I dont think he has been sighted at training yet?

Supposably a couple signed on the weekend mate however as they have not come up on the clearances as of yet so I won't be dropping names or any clues. Both will be in our starting 18 though if everything goes through accordingly.

I'd also like to know about practice matches that teams have got organised, our first one for RCAFC is next weekend against St. Mary's in the Northern league which should be good to shake off the cobwebs!

From what I have heard, read and seen:

St Francis Xav.
Point Cook
Manningham
South Mornington
Richmond
Swinburne
Nth Brunswick
Box Hill Nth
Eley Park
Chadstone

Hey Whisper, make sure you go to the correct ground & make sure you say hello.

Finally the Corolla fought itself through the traffic and rolled into the lush ovals of the Point Cook sporting precinct.

Solid numbers and and very solid hit out for the boys from the West- South-West area.

Did take note of a few players. After conferring with a local Point Cook supporter, I was impressed with a particular robust right footer, and I am therefore on board for some individual honors for... James Dunne. Could possibly be the roughie, for pick up of the 2011 season. Sure was only one training session but the poise, and control of a football that had the grip of a wet soap, was very much note worthy.

Slurpee01 interested for your thoughts on Point Cook.

Whispers out.

Someone would have got a good return from Eley Park making the top 5.

I'll be putting some odds up tomorrow hopefully.
Unfortunately I'm starting a new job on Tuesday and will probably only be able to look at the forum at lunch time and at home from now on. A truly sad day in my life.

A truly sad day in my life.

I feel your pain - it's a tough day at work when I don't open the site at least 3-4 times per day to see if anything has happened, or someone has started a scandal.

On that note, welcome to Slurpee & Whispers; you've kept things humming along here nicely recently.

I'm not around the Cobras this year (henpecked) so don't know much of what is going on. I do know that there was an attendee at training last night (first time for the year) that there was some concern over. Opposition midfields might have preferred he stayed away.

So he played last year then... Cookson.

I have however set up the Footy Tipping competitions for both D3 & D4 at VAFATipping.com

Feel free to join up and have a look around before the season starts. Software has been updated so now incorrect scores can be corrected without ruining the whole season.

Anyone interested in putting scores in let me know and I can give you admin rights to do so from the front end.
