As I've said before... This is the most open D4 has been for a long while, and everyone will believe they have a shot this season. It should make for an interesting VAFA season launch!

I noticed a few presidents have changed... Manningham, South Mornington, Chadstone (The only female president has stepped down?), SFX?

Have heard from a good source that Ben Cookson wont play this year or if he does will not be until late in the year.

Any teams playing practice matches this weekend or next weekend?

Whispers - have had some interesting mail come across my desk regarding St Frances Xavier and Mount Lilydale, who have been flying under the radar this morning. Makes for very interesting reading.

Could cracks be starting to appear in some sides before a ball has been bounced???

Slurpee01.

Maybe we should take this new thread of mail offline...

What game do you think I should head down to next weekend to watch?

Where are the centrals playing next weekend?

Are they going to playing their whole squad or as I have heard down the line, hold back a few of their notable recruits

Whispers out.

I see that North Brunswick have made an unnoticed signing in the past week! Perhaps they are trying to keep it on the downlow, however signing the coverted Francis Valente (Portuguese for brave) from North Old Boys is a massive coup for the club and they'll be relying on him putting his head over the ball and running back with the flight of the ball as his name suggests.

With the Portuguese connection now down at the club there is murmurs about that a huge sponsorship agreement with Nando's is soon to be announced with the Peri Peri sauce getting a big work out on the Thursday nights at selection!

This is what I have been told:

St Fances Xavier, are at the moment without a senior coach, this hasnt been made public yet as they are trying to fill the position from within. Assistant coaches have been taking training for the last week. I am led to believe that the coach has walked out after a dispute with numerous club officals and has taken 3 or 4 key players with him to a neighbouring league....... Can anyone confirm or deny this:thumbsdown::thumbsu:?

This couldnt be good with only 4 weeks to go until the start of the season.

I had them as my preseason favourites.

Cracks??

I have just noticed a massive coup by Swinburne, signing Chris Kilmartin from Merrigum in the KDFL. I don't know a heap about him but going by one of my sources from that league he is a CHF with a booming kick and a fantastic pair of hands! Snagging 33 goals from his 18 games last year of which he was named in the best 10 times, this is a great pick up from Swinburne. Merrigum struggled from all reports and have been told had he been in a good team he could have kicked 70 - 80 sausage rolls.

Looks as though the standard of this league is definitely going to increase this year!

How about Divyan Rajkumar, the man mountain!

Finally the Corolla fought itself through the traffic and rolled into the lush ovals of the Point Cook sporting precinct.

Solid numbers and and very solid hit out for the boys from the West- South-West area.

Did take note of a few players. After conferring with a local Point Cook supporter, I was impressed with a particular robust right footer, and I am therefore on board for some individual honors for... James Dunne. Could possibly be the roughie, for pick up of the 2011 season. Sure was only one training session but the poise, and control of a football that had the grip of a wet soap, was very much note worthy.

Slurpee01 interested for your thoughts on Point Cook.

Whispers out.

Dunners will be a good pick up for Point Cook... gives 110% every game

Dimma staying? That's all that really matters.

Any word on McCallum? IFF?

I don't know - but last I heard the boys were still applying some subtle pressure. The rest of the group have stayed around, so the assumption would be that if he played anywhere he'd be there.

To be honest, it's pretty quiet really. I don't know if there is much hype down there.

I did see that Chris Arman was back again, which probably means that Wombat may be back this year.

Whispers had a couple of ciders with a prominent figure from Swinburne Uni FC and I am really intrigued to see how the students fair this year...

Fair to say that lid is bulging at the seems, with a hard slog of pre season being seen as a raging success. Many key individuals raring to fire with their new game plan. I personally really had no idea what this stately figure was attempting to lay down for my perusal, but nevertheless, I will be looking forward to sitting back in the Corolla this weekend and seeing how they fair in their first practise game.

A player I have been told to keep my eye on are: Robust/ "wig splitting" (not my words), Daniel Crowe. If anyone knows more about the new personnel at the University Lodge please feel free to contribute.

Whispers out.

I can confirm that Dimma is staying on at St Frances, however they have lost 4 or 5 key players who had completed most of teh pre season there. This comes as a shock to the schoolboys as they were firming as pre season favourites....back to the drawing board.

Whispers, I too have heard a little about the one they call 'Russell' down at the razorbacks.... Mail is that he has added a bit of muscle to his frame over the summer spending a fair bit of time in the strong room sculpting the guns. Look for him to start in the middle in most games also pushing up forward and slotting a few through the big sticks.

I see Box Hill are having a run this saturday down at elgar. Dont know much about their opponents but I think I might jump on the bike and ride down to have a bit of a look. After a long summer on the track, it will be interesting to see how they go.

Agreed with all your points Slurpe01. Ill be keeping a keen eye on 'Rusty' this coming season and again all, you have heard it first, that he will feature in the League B&F ...

Havent seen much of Box Hill this side of Christmas but I know that their numbers are strong and lots of enthusiasm down the East Link way.

Can confirm one think though... Chadstone FC are about as useful as an; "ejector seat in a helicopter".

Even after several strongly pointed emails to Jeremy Bourke at Elsternwick HQ they remain in the competition... Not even an apology letter from their President for continually dropping the standard of D4.

Yep - must be a worry down there when there are more 'outs' than 'ins' on the clearance list at this stage of the season...

Other news out of Swinburne is that Tom Kennedy has been working hard on his fitness after gaining a reputation of being a bit lazy on the filed (justified IMO) and has also bulked up a bit and will hopefully be a genuine 1's half forward player after kicking a lot of goals last year in the 2's At 24-25 now the coaching staff are really hoping he can kick on.

Apparently he, and I quote, "had a roll"

Just wanting to know a bit about Jason Lucas from Richmond Central. Has been training with my side here in Canberra for the last couple of weeks. Seems like a great fella!

What's he like as a footballer?

Cheers

Ah good to hear that 'George Star Wars" Lucas has found a new home to lurch around at...

Should suit in nicely...

Keep away from him if he demands a 'dentist chair' after hours.

The boys at Point Cook have pulled off a bit of a coup signing Jordan Lampi, not only will young Jordan be a handy inclusion to the team, they should also have good insight into what weather will be like on game day due to the fact that well known weatherman Brick Tamland has made it very public that he loves Lamp.
