Just turned 20.

I'd rather build a dynasty ala Brisbane or Geelong (very close) than just win one ala Sydney/Eagles.

I want us to be remembered as a great team.

We've had one dynasty at the Pies in over 100 years and that was 80 years ago. If you are after a dynasty with the current drafting and salary cap setups you might be waiting another 80 years.

If we can make a trade that will give us a big shot at a premiership, even just the one, then we have to try.

Yeah I'm sure the Swans and Eagles supporters were devastated when their teams won the premiership......

If he was 26 I'd say yes. At 28/9 doesn't leave much of a window.

3-4 years is plenty of a window!

pick 14 could be an absolute spud (very shallow draft). I wouldn't say no to trading Thomas, Medhurst, Davis, Cloke, Anthony, Dawes either.

We've already got some midfield issues with 'going missing' during matches. You don't want that happening at FF as well

That said, I'd be pretty sure Bucks and Mick could enforce a little discipline with him.

Yeah cos our current full forward never goes missing...

Everyone was pleased with his year of 50 goals, imagine a full forward kicking 100 goals a year for us?

I'd prefer Fev to Trav.

Keep em both, Trav could become a top CHF with Fev taking all the attention

i see your point but i'd wanna hang onto thomas.. he's one of the few players that can come out of september with his head held high. we need players that can step up when it counts and he is one of them. given time to take his game to another level he will be invaluable come september..

anthony i'd also be hesitant. not many players kick 50 goals in his first full season as a key forward at 21 years of age.

davis and medhurst i would consider but the deal would have to be good.. dont think they'd be after smallish forwards anyway

dawes id consider..

I want more than just the one premiership.

I want this football club to achieve and win a few flags over a period.

Not win one and then go missing for another 10-20-30+ years.

No.

Our forwards are not the problem.

Our midfield is still the problem.

I would help St. Kilda get Fev, by offering them under the odds for Luke Ball or David Armitage.

I think it leaves us with a good 2-3 years, considering that at the Pies he will not be the sole focus up forward. Because we have other reliable forwards which is something Carlton didnt have, there would be less pressure on him and we wouldnt need him to kick 100 goals a year, 70 would be a great return if Jack can kick 40-50 and Cloke 30+ playing as a roaming CHF. Having Fev would definitely add the reliable firepower we need up forward, if we could get another inside mid and a ruckman wed be well on track.

Having said that I still dont want us to trade away Dawes because when Fev retires in say another 4 seasons time, were back to the same problem. And what happens if he goes down? If we could get away with say pick 14 + a young player other than Reid, Nat Brown, Dawes, Cloke Id do it. Maybe pick 14 + Goldsack, but thats probably not enough, i guess it depends how badly Carlton want to mvoe him on. Maybe our 1st and 4th round picks + Goldsack in return for Fev and their 3rd round?

Do you honestly think we can win multiple flags with our current forward set up?

We all would mate, but its really really f**ken hard. I'm 48 and have seen 1 flag. I neeeeeeeeeeeed a flag.

Head says no, heart says...no. I'd love to take him just to shaft the Blues but that isn't going to happen.

Off-field:

Cons-He's a shameful drunk of epic proportions. Will actually cost his club (whoever it is) many times his salary through lost sponsorship without doubt.

Pros-Shameless admin (we brazened out Didak's shooting buddy ffs) and deep pockets so we can afford some lost bucks. Eddies media savvy would save us from the worst effects of this dufus, despite us being the league's media magnet.

On Field:

Pros-Coleman. Can kick goals can take marks, can compete. With a real coach he could do 120-140 in a season.

Cons-used to playing with failure addicts (I'm serious) and also Carlton use a different gameplan to us where he really is the only target for long periods of the game. With his small brain and big ego he may have a hard time accepting or even understanding our high-rotation technical gameplan.

At the trade table: Its all downside here: no-one in the league will give us a fair crack in a trade since we burned them in the Buckley and Rocca trades (except for Freo:thumbsu:). Carlton will NOT do this deal for a 3rd rounder and a dud. They will want Swan or Pendles and our first rounder. If we somehow agreed to that they would demand even more.

I would do it for our first rounder (which is under the odds), but I could not agree to sending any of our boys to that den of filth. Scotland and Cloke wanted to go and they are decent kids, the best people at Carlton and good luck to them, but most of that lot are roaches and should be isolated from humanity

Would definitely take Fev, but for the life of me I can't see the two clubs getting a deal done.

Personally don't rate Dawes that highly, though it seems a lot of fans do, so I'm probably missing something.

1 thing that is without doubt...

if we get him, we must win a flag

If we get him and he retires without a premiership then it is an epic fail.

if we get him and we win a flag then it is a successful trade, regardless of who or what we give up.

i guess that's the punt you gotta take to taste success...
Bingo and MM only cares about next 2 years. Think on that basis he'll push to get him. 1st rounder???

Shit Wicksy, what did you do to deserve that response...lol.
Very touchy on the blues board alright.

Strangely I voted YES but I'm of the same opinion as Faves.
I don't want to sell the farm to get him.

It needs to be a deal where we actually win in the long run and I would not be prepared to lose an important player, currently or future.

It will be very tough to do the deal especially with Carlton.
