I've seen alot of posts saying we don't need a full forward with the calibre of brendan fevola to win a premiership. We don't need a full forward to kick 60+ goals a year.

Thought i'd do a little research.

2009 - Geelong - Mooney 46, Johnson 40, Chapman 37, Hawkins 34,
2008 - Hawthorn - Franklin 113, Roughead 75, Williams 46
2007 - Geelong - Mooney 67, Johnson 49, N.Ablett 34
2006 - West Coast - Lynch 65, Embley 31
2005 - Sydney - Hall 80, O'Loughlin 52, N.Davis 38
2004 - Port Adelaide - Tredrea 81, Motlop 34
2003 - Brisbane - A.Lynch 78, Bradshaw 30
2002 - Brisbane - A.Lynch 74, Bradshaw 38
2001 - Brisbane - A.Lynch, 58, Bradshaw 46, Brown 38
2000 - Essendon - Llyod 109, Lucas 57

and Collingwood in the same years..

2009 - Anthony 50, Davis 35
2008 - Medhurst 50, Cloke 34, Davis 32
2007 - Rocca 54, Cloke 37, Davis 31
2006 - Rocca 55, Didak 41
2005 - Caracella 34,
2004 - Rocca 27
2003 - Rocca 45, Didak 36
2002 - Rocca 38, Fraser 37,
2001 - Rocca 42, Holland 28
2000 - Rocca 33

Can you honestly tell me we don't need a proven full forward who is guaranteed to improve our forward line. The proof is there, we don't kick enough goals or have a dominate enough forward to win a flag.

Fevola will get the best defender and still kick 70 + goals and it will be a domino effect, Cloke then gets the 2nd best defender releasing him back to his copeland trophy winning form and Jack Anthony then gets the 3rd best defender still allowing him to kick his 50 goals we need as a second forward.

Geelong is the exception due to their sheer domination all over the ground, they have the best midfield, they're backline is too strong and if anything they're forwards are the weak link though they still manage an even spread of goals.

We currently don't have the luxury of a superstar midfield and backline but we can do something about making a superstar forward line and Fevola IS the answer.

HF: Didak, Cloke, Thomas
F: Davis, Fevola, Anthony

Ummm cummings and cara didnt play for us in 2000....

haha..

ok all sorted..! when i say i did research.. i mean i spent about 5 minutes doing it..! footywire.com has the wrong team names against players..

ANYWAYS..!!!!!! makes it even worse..! Fevola now please..!!

We are a good team but we are not as good as the top guns in the league. A target like Fev up foward would bring us upto pace with the big guns.

Travis Cloke is the worst player in the history of the game to wear the black and white. He has no heart. We are building a foward structure around him and he continually lets us down. Just like his recent final series.

he contuinues to turn the ball over, and miss simple marks on leads. His only good games has come against teams who were in the bottom 2 or 3 on the ladder.

Trade Cloke and draft picks, and obtain Fev ( yes his an idiot ) but we would become a genuine premiership contender. And that's what it's all about.

I disagree about trading cloke. I reckon Cloke, along with Anthony, would improve greatly with Fev being in the team. Cloke and Anthony would both have a weight lifted off their shoulders, no longer having to worry about being the primary goal kickers for the team.

I also believe a solid pre-season where Cloke can psychologically get some rest and can refresh himself mentally and physically could make him regain some of his 07 form. :thumbsu:

With that being said, I don't really want to or think Fev is worth trading any of our gun players. Some of our fringe players and pick 14 will do. If they want more than that then they can keep him.

Sorry, how many games have you seen? So he's the worst player ever to play for Collingwood, yet he won a Copeland in 2007. I don't see the logic with your post.

I go to just about every game, and when I don't go I watch on TV.

Travis Cloke is hopeless, his only good game this year was against Richmond.
How many times in the last 10 games did he go on a lead and drop the ball or run out of breath before attempting to catch.

His kicking at goal is pathetic for an player of AFL level. ( his missed attempt aginst St.Kilda from 8 metres away was so pivotal in the game ).

With the absense of a big foward over the last 2 seasons it was his big oppertunity to stand up, and he has failed.

It's about time we close the door on all the Clokes, and move foward.
Fev would be a great move foward.

Just turned 20.

I'd rather build a dynasty ala Brisbane or Geelong (very close) than just win one ala Sydney/Eagles.

I want us to be remembered as a great team.

FFS lets just win one and then worry about B2B or threepeats.

Clearly you have no idea how bloody hard these things are to win.

No, what I meant was he isn't our worst player ever. He isn't even our worst player on our list right now.

I just want to win one before Mick goes. Then Buckley can raise the young'uns and create this 'triple Premiership' team everyone so strangely wants, like it would be easily achievable.

Just be content with winning one. I haven't seen us win a granny yet in my entire life (actually I have, but I was about 4 months old, haha), so lets give the fans something to cheer about.

Here is, IMO a decent trade for Collingwood if we were to lose Leon, an AA.

Leon + Fraser + 2nd rounder à Fremantle for Sandilands + 2rd rounder??
is it possible?

In this case Collingwood would still be able to Trade for Fev.

If sandilands was actually up for trade that would be nice..

No chance of leaving.. Next...!

this is the only forum that hasnt got it

But word is elsewhere that fev to collingwood is a done deal, we keep our first rounder, lose a player for a high pick and steak knives, on trade pick to carlton plus our second rounder for fev

we get Fev +steak knives
insert 3rd club get one of our seniors
carlton get first rounder from said club and our second rounder

Neil Mitchell fwiw reckons we have him
rex hunt same
some quite respected collingwood forum posters that usually get the right word think we have him

Ill also add said steak knives is another player we have been linked too, even if i dont want him or see why we need him. The major hurdle is the two other clubs dont particularly like us

Can we know knife names etc.?

Can we know knife names etc.?
read an article in the australian about who Malthouse wants

Im not naming names but it seems its bloody likely from what ive read elsewhere

basically i think fev is a pie or a blue next year nothing else

Have also heard that the deal is done with us 100%.
Fev would be lucky to be walking in with his teeth left too after brownlow night when he "upset" a certain veteran forward who was about to knock his block off.
