MRP / Trib. Dockers shock as Sylvia faces month-long ban

Will hunt around for the source. It was about September last year that they revealed that the MRP review a series of incidents given to them in a list collated by Football Operations. They do not sit there and review the matches in entirety. That would be 27 hours of television and they only meet for a couple of hours on a monday.

I actually agree with you. I saw one of the mrp video that they admitted as much. This is also consistent with what we notice here, so incidents got called and gotten weeks, some incidents not looked at at all.

My dilemma is, I'm not sure I want them to look at everything. Can you imagine the players being rubbed out...

Yey , that's why they mention the ones that are "assessed" but not proceeded with .

Under the WAFL rules the proposed penalties are not made public until after the penalty has been accepted or the Tribunal has heard the case. Peel Thunder elected to challenge the charge at the WAFL Tribunal on Tuesday night.

If Sylvia was to be suspended it would be yet another blow for the former Demon who has been unable to break into the Fremantle side since arriving in the off-season

Just saw the footage on channel 7 - he's 'wing punched' a guy 30 m off the ball after copping a little bump from opponent . Looks bad, contact with elbow to head from what u can see and the guy drops like a sack of spuds.
Col is surfing for the next few weekends, might get to see a bit of our great state while on his mini break

At least he showed a good turn of speed, closed down the opponents space very quickly after the guy had run past him. Something to work with there.

Huge call! - premature call though
Maybe. In fact, I hope so. However, it doesn't exactly look good. Before arriving, Sylvia partied for an extra month rather than get fit for pre season. He's then struggled both with injury and it also looks like attitude. Played poorly in pre season, hasn't been able to break into the senior side (even with our outs), and looked dis interested after not getting a call up. He's had one decent game in the WAFL. Now he's going to get a decent holiday for striking. Like I said, it doesn't look good.

Very undisciplined behaviour from Sylvia. He can cool his heels for a while and build his running capacity. He's been disappointing so far but I'm sure he can turn it around. This may give him time to think and could turn into a positive for Colin. Good luck to him as he is a very good player

I can see something in that youtube WAFL video. Sure the title of the video by Tom Atkinson (6pr employee?) "Colin Sylvia goes Whack..." wants to tell us what happens, but is there anything there that anyone can see that is conclusive. I put my new glasses on, and I am mostly guessing that its two players from opposite teams. Should I go back to my optician?

As to what can be proved and who the players involved are -- there has to be some better evidence than this. A couple of years ago there was a much hyped incident involving Mitch Brown and a South Fremantle player called Mason Shaw. .

Watch the video in full screen mode.
Cant tell from the video who is involved but the umpires and players in the area all know who did it.
Looks like he either elbowed or just plain king hit ooops sorry Danny coward punched the bloke.
They will take players injuries and doctor reports into consideration then only use the video to show he has done something looks rough and off the ball etc etc to come up with decision.

Under AFL rules would probably only get 2 - 3weeks being a Freo player under AFL rules maybe 3 - 5.
No idea on WAFL rules.

When you watch it full screen, can see a clear swinging left arm. I can't tell 100% if he punched him in the head or guts. Gutless. Four weeks sounds about right.

So that's 4 weeks of running laps, RTB is probably going to give him another month's penance in the magoos. He better not drop his bundle completely.

Very disappointing, as I think he really could give the side a big boost if we got him fit and firing. And ideally that would be now while we face a tough stretch of opponents.

Post of the week!! Someone buy this lady a box of chocolates:thumbsu:

Undisciplined, pathetic rubbish that you expect to see in the bush leagues, not from a senior player who is clearly not handling the pressure of being in a team that demands professionalism.

Enjoi yor ban Colin, and have a bloody long look in the mirror while your at it.

Peel have gotten the suspension for Colin down to 2 weeks due to Subiaco's lack of evidence. They are saying Mahoney wasn't concused.

Yet it was reported, (yeah I know), that he was unable to drive home.

He's a lucky boy as it appears that the players "code" and WAFL club "code" is still alive and well.

This conflicts me as I feel that what Sylvia did was a dog act and deserved more, yet I am happy that players and clubs aren't shafting each other in the wafl as we now see in the AFL.

hai Brent Harvey, you pole smoker.

Silly boy, no one has ever won the battle vs Lyon by being petulant. He won't play before the midfield break at all now. I hope it's a performance based contract, I heard a whisper it is.

What if the bloke had said something extremely nasty to him. ..OR what if the bloke hit him first in a very ungentlemanly way?
Colin Sylvia seems to me like someone who won't take garbage from anybody.
So in other words what if the bloke really deserved it kinda like how everybody thought Des Headland was justified in attacking Selwood ?

I guess what I am saying is perhaps if you are a smart arse and give shit to Sylvia you stand a good chance of getting whacked.

Not that there's anything wrong with that!

Bad example. It wasn't anything to do with whether or not he deserved it because of what he said, people were just genuinely supportive of Des, because it was Selwood getting a kicking. I'm sure even Eagles supporters must think he's a grade A knob too.
