Genuinely piss funny when you consider that none of those players he listed were selected due to any form of AFL assistance.

It's a bit crazy how many first rounders will actually be on our list. We lost Cunners and Ziebs, but we also have Corr (14), McDonald (8), Logue (8), Stepho (2), Stevens (5) (this yr).

He’s a sniveling pissant of a human.

I wouldn't go that far. In fact, I don't dislike him as much as many others do.

However, for someone who tends to pontificate and sermonise as much as he does, you never hear him challenge anyone on anything to their face. Certainly, it comes across that he lacks courage but I tend to think that he is also gushingly awed by football people. Watch how he heaps praise anyone who he allows to grace his 360/SEN pulpit. He sickeningly refers to regular guests as part of 'the family' and defers to their 'wisdom and experience.' He knows he's in the good books and he knows how to stay there - he ain't picking fights with anyone who counts.

However, if I had to choose between that and the faux aggro, manufactured outrage and dumb hyperbole of Footy Classified, I'll go with Gerard and Slobbo.

Also, historically, assistance has been given as a start of first round picks, however, while we have been given similar value, it is in an IKEA-some-assembly-required format, with three end of first round picks.

But it sounds great for the sensationalist claims, to be able to add three more first rounders to their count (which I'm still struggling to see the relevance of!) rather than one high first rounder.

Also, from my understanding of what I read on how the new three year contracts work for round one draft picks, it is only up to pick 20. It seems pretty unlikely with F/S, FA comp and academy picks that any of those picks will be inside 20, so to me, regardless of how they have been communicated, they are actually better described as early second round picks!

Yeh but Gales. And shinboner spirit!!

The best part is the article heading and the article preview. The delusion is mad.

The reaction to the compensation is exactly why I was fine not getting any more help.

We've been through absolute hell over the last five years to acquire a host of great talent but all we are going to hear going forward is that any success was due to charity.

I know the response will be '* them' but it will still be frustrating that it will be the opinion of others given what we've had to endure.
I'm revelling in the salty tears.

Whateley plays Gil's audio from last night then says he hates the 'wink and nudge' aspect of priority picks.

Why didn't you say that to Gil last night????????
Because he's a snivelling pissant.

I do love how they have used the 10 year data to define how we have been better than to be getting assistance packages.

Yet when MaGoo wants out the door they were all on about how the toll of winning 7 games in 71 games over his entire career with Norf must have been so great as to make him want to leave 🤪.

You can’t have it both ways you ****ing muppets (actually that’s an insult to muppets because they only have wires moving them and no hand up their own arses moving their lips)…

So in other words a snivelling pissant?

Hey Mods,

Sorry for interrupting your Chadstone Food Court Catch Up but, now that we've received our draft assistance at what point do we shut this thread down? Feels like the same conversations are being had in this thread and the Draft Preview Thread.

Anyway just a thought, hope you're enjoying the Nando's, Sushi Sushi & Mad Mex.

Well yes. But then again, if I met him face-to-face I wouldn't tell him he was a sniveling pissant. Which is just as well, because I guess that makes me a sniveling pissant too.
lol

I'd probably refrain on the term "snivelling pissant" but almost certainly use the word sycophant to his face

Twomey name gets me. Like he gave us assistance !

No longer " Strategy " either.
A " Fait Accompli "

This is true, but I find 360 borderline unwatchable when Slobbo isn't on.

Whateley isn't so much a journalist as he is a broadcaster. He's good at coming up with fancy-sounding words to fill airtime but he never holds anyone to account for anything.

Slobbo on the other hand does, and even though he does get confused and forgetful rather easily, he's much more comfortable with challenging people on the spot. Besides how much more interesting and unpredictable he is.

Even though I don't enjoy Whateley by himself very much, I've long thought that teaming him up with Slobbo was a fine bit of casting.

Who gives a flying f#%$ what they say.

They are going to have to sit there and take it like good little boys.

The reality is, if the assistance was genuine and based on our ladder position over the last 4 years, then the AFL should have given us PP1 this year, pick 11 as a mid round 1 pick this year and pick 11 as a mid round 1 pick next year. Then they could have said to us, don't come back for any further assistance.

However, even though we didn't get close to that, at least we were provided with picks that we can work with to improve our draft hand. And as a added bonus, the melts coming from opposition supporters about our assistance is glorious. Kudos to the North posters posting on the MB, as I don't know how you do it. It seems they argue for the sake of it and when they are proven wrong, they still cant accept it. I did have a read of the MB and have realised the following from the opposition supporters.
  1. North Melbourne have been given the greatest ever assistance handed out to any club. If only we used those PP1, PP2 and PP3 picks so much better in the previous years.
  2. Any PP assistance provided to other clubs, you cant bring them up in a argument against those other teams. It's as if those packages were only a myth and never happened.
  3. Chris Scott has been been labelled the messiah for calling out this horrendous draft manipulation.
  4. North are a basket case and should be relocated or have their license taken off them for being so bad.
  5. And the best ones, are the comments about how Adelaide, St Kilda, West Coast, Swans, Bulldogs, etc etc, can hold their heads up high when they have the ultimate success because they did it they right way and with no assistance but North will have an * against any success. I mean do they really think that North fans are going to give a shit, that at our next premiership success, we are going to feel like its tainted? My god these people are delusional.
To me the funniest part of this assistance is the fact that the opposition supporters are so wound up about it. And I am loving it. I get the feeling that they know that with all this talent we are gathering, in addition to the talent we already have, it wont be long before we are screaming up the ladder. And I think the fact that Clarko will be as fresh and determined as ever, and with no racism distraction hanging over his head, the royal blue and white Phoenix (not the Spicer variety) will rise from the ashes. They are all worried.

I have posted this image before but I think it is appropriate to do it again, for all those whining opposition supporters who are melting over our assistance package.

Draft picks guarantee nothing - even much better ones than these haven’t delivered flags to GWS or Gold Coast. If we succeed it will be due to us getting a lot of other things right.

And if you picked up any fans of Hawthorn, Richmond, Collingwood, Western, Sydney, Melbourne, Eagles or anyone else giving a rats about someone else thinking their flags were in any way tainted by them using the AFL’s equalisation measures - which meant more draft riches than we have ever looked like receiving - you have better eyes than mine.
I agree but I think it does run a bit deeper with our Club.

As a kid, I was often reminded that poor North "bought" its first flag and then Pagan came along and smashed that narrative out of the park largely on the back of a group of Under 19 kids.

Personally, they can stick their compensation.

We'll defy them regardless of their mealy mouthed charitable donations. It's been our journey for 50 years.

But it's almost been worth it hearing Richmond supporters carry on about the adversity they've faced and overcome. F$%^ me.
