I would seriously look at trading Thomas to Gold Coast or GWS , get another decent first round pick. I know his best is as good as anyone we got however not everyone works out . I don’t like the vibes I have seen last 12 months the entourage, the Instagram etc . Before shooting me down I know the ribs , I know the significant bereavement, I know the poor relationship with Noble. And the fact he’s only 22

We need more talent 1 and 55 ain’t going to cut it . Of all the players on our list that have some value him and JHF are the ones who we have any reason to question re flight risk etc

I back clarko having more success with Jason as opposed to tarryn just my opinion obviously

That would make no sense if he’s committed to North. Which it seems he is.

Tarryn is already putting in the work for next year while others have been on the piss.

So you want to get rid of our most talented player to bring in more talent?

Possibly, however if as suggested Gold Coast are into him , 2 years on contract etc . I just feel we need to be creative to improve our draft hand , thanks in part to the ccj trade we are too short this year imo
Then we’ll have to go and find a ****ing good half forward. Its a catch 22. I’d go one year to see then if it doesn’t work, next year will be the time to move

It’s almost a weird ploy by the afl to force us to keep drafting Mahony’s, Macmillans and Mountfords of the AFL, while trading in for Farren Ray types all so we can finish 9-10th.

A end of first rounder would have been sweet, but we’ve had a lot of top picks over the past few years so that sweetens it. I wonder if noble was still coaching if it would change that outcome? E.g more of a basket case scenerio

They basically gave us the bare, bare minimum so they can keep their special herbs and spices PP’s up their sleeve for when clubs like Carlton, Collingwood or Essendon finish bottom or if GWS or GGS still haven’t won a flag.

Shame on all you posters who thought we were going to get anything significant.

I am just looking at viable options to bring in more talent. If I didn’t have concerns around TT I would never have raised it . I do have those concerns however and I also have major concerns about having 1 meaningful pick in this year’s draft.

I believe that under Clarkson we need players that football is 1st 2nd and third priority. If we have a talented player that has currency that can’t answer yes to that question it’s a no brainer imo

Rightly things are not going to be easy for these boys come November 1 it’s time to step up , we have a multitude of first round picks on our list , we have either picked the wrong ones or not developed them well enough?

Tarryn at his best is untouchable I agree , I am just looking at options

Revealed: North’s draft assistance package

The AFL has granted North Melbourne future draft picks that must be traded for listed players as part of a special assistance package approved today.

The AFL has handed the Kangaroos a 2023 second and 2023 third round pick that must be traded to another club or clubs, for at least one player, under a draft assistance package aimed at making North Melbourne more competitive quickly.

The AFL also gave North the right to an additional two rookies on the list - a measure aimed at allowing the club to keep younger players while bringing in more mature talent.

Sources familiar with the AFL’s draft assistance for the Roos said the future picks had to be used in trades this year or they would cease to exist.
The league wanted to help North Melbourne without penalising rival clubs, and they did not want the Kangaroos to stockpile draft picks.

Is that it?

WOW!

The assistance one gives when they really want to shit in your cereal.

The CEO’s final red hot poker up the arse before he departs. And not before time.

Anywho, I’ve had some time to think about and well…

…yeah it’s still shit.

As someone said Gil would be thinking how have they got no debt . He tried to kill us but failed now we need that flipping Silverware. As usual we will have to earn it we will have to work extra hard to get it.

We've always had enemies historically but giving them the finger with the attempted GC relocation (and then erasing the debt) was probably what really left them seething. We were never and will never be a golden child like Sydney is.

Take comfort that they will ALL go to their graves in the knowledge their efforts to destroy and undermine us FAILED and we will always be here.
It’s sad to consider that merely defending the status of our proud and historic club may have been deemed by the AFL as ‘giving them the finger’.

But it certainly looks that way.

We should of just added a green stripe and turned into North Hobart, I mean what's 150 years heritage when we can expand our great sport by supporting clubs like the gold coast suns? I'd rather fall on Caros arrow.

I expected we'd get something insignificant but that might be useful, instead we got essentially nothing.

Saints fans reckon they dont need to dump salary......Hill not worth 900k.....I'd pay him 2.5m over 4 years if Saints pay 250 a year for the next 2!....He gets some longevity and see what he can bring a team on the rise with Clarko in charge, and an extra 700k on his current contract, certainly an upgrade on Polecs output who rolls out of contract next season. Reckon that's a win for both clubs and player,,,although saints fans reckon they don't need to dump salary. either way, he's not value at 900k!
Just on Hill, he definitely isn't a salary dump. Just came 7th in our b&f even if he wasn't brilliant he's still a pretty big part of our side.

We had saved a shitload of cap space to try and lure Ben King. We have also now lost Hanneberys salary which we're trying to use to land JDG. If JDG stays at Collingwood as is expected we will be paying a lot of average players more than they're worth, a salary dump does nothing to help us.

The whispers going around are that it is Hill and Clarko that are exploring the move, apparently Hill has virtually ghosted us for the time being.

If Hill requests a trade to North, I'd rather piss him off then force him to stick to his contract, but I'd expect a 2nd back.

As for Clark, I don't see any way that he gets to North tbh with your firsts being untouchable. Another club would be willing to give up a first. He'd be one I'd expect us to keep to his contract unless we get a really good return.

Unpopular opinion. This decision has stuff all to do with the AFL executive who would have presented a range of possible compensation scenarios. Self interested and insular presidents of big clubs and toe-rags like the GC president would have voted down anything substantial. Shepherd from GC is the worst of all the presidents by street. Always whining and never wanting anyone to get what they have been given three times and f@cked it each time. As Clarko says - its time to roll up the sleeves and get on with it.
