Every powerful mid/forward is going to be the next Dusty/Petracca.

But Dusty and Petracca killed it in the under 18 championships, they were a long way ahead of Lalor at the same age.

And yeah Dusty for a brute power bloke who exploded from contests to use it so well was unique. Although Harley may make a case in the future.

Actually great call re Harley. It was the silent assassin of Dusty though that Harley hasn't got. Harley too big a personality. Gunna be some player though.

I dont remember it that way with dusty - he certainly didn't dominate - I think the tigers took a bit of a punt tbh - he had a few big 'weaknesses' like his defense and tank - he really didn't hit his straps until a couple of years into his AFL career.

Dusty was the AA centreman in his under 18 year and went at 20 possessions a game - half contested - in his first year of AFL. And by year 2 was going at over 20 and over a goal a game - not many players do that. I know for a fact that Pies had him at pick 1, despite question marks off field - not sure how high other teams had him.

It was after 1997, so it was half a Duck really (as grand as he still was), one leg (probably) and couldn't mark over his head... still kicked 4-5 and would a gave a few off!

Feels like if North trade 2 now it’s probably not Richmond to me.

Part of why it’s worthwhile waiting till draft night is you don’t know what players will have been taken. Richmond have the only pick beforehand, so they don’t have any incentive to wait.

The counter I guess is on the North side, maybe they have an offer from Richmond that they will accept but want to wait in case another suitor throws their hat in the ring late on.

This draft is doing a lot of people's heads in, everyone is staying quiet apart from the supporters and no one really know's who is going where, I love it!

Hed dropped out of school in year 9 and was running loose and free.

He had elite attributes and elite performance at state level, so much so that he still went top 5 despite massive question marks about whether he'd cut it professionally.

No doubt that many in this draft have him well and truly covered for character ratings, but none compare in terms of a combination of attributes and performance. They just don't.

Yeah I think Tigers take Lalor and the Roos FOS.

Smith reminds me of Cotchin however and looks the most cert to be very good.

They have a small chance Smith slides to 6. They would love their next Dusty/Cotchin duo.
