A three way where we end up with Richmond’s picks 6 and 11, they received 7 and 8 and then traded 7 and 20 ish for 2.
Ah I see. That seems a very fair deal all around but it would depend enormously on who each club is specifically after.

I think it would work superbly well for us, and gets North pretty much what they want, but it might defeat the purpose of what Richmond are trying to achieve. Which seems to be 3 picks in the first 6.

Completely ignored the points I raised.

Teams want to trade into this draft, not out of it.

Tell me what is a realistic price for the Saints F1, factoring in the above as well as getting North's desired outcome ie: a pick under 14.

You can't.

Hence your ignorance of my points about your statements.

North can do the 2 for 7 & F1. If they do, then they have their own F1 to dangle at GWS, not just StKilda's.

GWS are into Premium picks. They will see Norths F1 as a premium pick, and i think NM could get 2 of the Giants picks for it. It might be any combo of 15,16,21.

That would leave NM with 7 and two of 15, 16, 21. Plus StK F1 instead of their own.

And StK get their simple trade of 7 & F1 for 2.

The Tigers simply need to include 6 to trump this offer. Or they move on from getting Pick 2.

North don't need mids, I think tauru is there pick 10, 18 20 for 2 I think will happen.

North get tauru, shanahan and one of the twins from murray bushrangers

Saints are happy with smillie and Langford at 7 and 8.

Tigers get Lalor, osullivan and Smith with 1, 2 and 6 gives them a midfield for a decade

Its all good except the saints part

They are not getting Langford or Smillie

More like Lyndsay and Travaglia.

I'm not seeing the issue. Pies have been in this position list wise since 2022. We chose to top up with mature players, which won a flag and will hopefully put us in contention again this year. Without doing that we would have already plummeted.

The whole argument seems to be dropping down is inevitable therefore we should choose to drop down now rather than having a crack at a flag by recruiting medium term players who also give us a chance of riding out our retirements.

I reckon you’ll end up with petracca aye what a grab that would be to.

If thats the case then why are you even talking to North - just shut them down. Richmond are holding out for Smillie as they know they can get him without moving and thats fair enough. They must rate someone else a little higher as why else would they be stringing North along.

North shot themselves in the foot with what they give up in the Daniel trade and are desparate to get back into the draft. Giving up #25 for a vertically challenged HBF was a disgraceful decision in my view. But clubs/coaches who have been down for so long become desparate for the sort term fix and that was this situation.
FOS. And completely agree re: North and Daniel. It's the worst trade in a few years.

I'd love him, but at the same time he's one I hope we don't do. Will cost a bomb but be only about now. What's being missed about our recent acquisitions is that they're medium term prospects, who should have 5+ years of good footy left. As well as being about now, they have the potential to extend our time in contention.

25 will be 30 on draft night and we are the turn over kings out of our backline. Daniel’s also releases McKercher onto the wing or midfield. The move is fine - we have enough 1st and 2nd rounders over the last 6 years.

Are they…? Love to know where you get the idea of Smillie being the one tigers want?
Because I’ve heard or seen absolutely nothing from Richmond about what they want. This might be exactly what Richmond would want North to do?

No matter how many different ways you dissect the first 30 picks. Richmond hold all the cards on how it plays out.
Good points..also, we’re only assuming Richmond are taking Lalor at #1

Not really sure why Richmond aren’t all over Saints F1. Surely they wont take all of their 20 odd picks in this one draft.
I reckon clubs would be too unsure of what it’s worth.

We were top 6 for all bar one week of the 2023 H&A season, and then once we re-grouped this year (after a brutal mix of significant injuries and a horror draw in the first 10 rounds), we won 8 of our last 12, and then 5 of our last 6. So for all they know, we’ll be that top 6 team again next year. Especially with another preseason into all the young ones.

On the other hand, we’ve cleared out a lot of our experienced depth, so if we get significant injuries again, we could be very vulnerable. We’re going to have a heap of “kids” on our list.

So our range could be anywhere from 6-ish to bottom 4.

I’m not 100% certain saints pick 7 & future first have been offered to north?

Well, we are only going on rumours in this rumour thread. And that's as strong a rumour as there is so far. As well as Tiges wanting to keep Pick 6. So on the basis of rumours, Saints look in the box seat to get the Premium Pick 2.

Carlton are not drafting another slow midfielder.
