Armstrong out - So do I bring in Ablett or Chappy?

Which one and why?

Tough one. I reckon Chappy will outscore GAJ from here on in, but Chappy's always a worry with durability.

For me, 5 trades left, $173k.

B: Goddard, Hodge, Enright, Carrazzo, Gilbee, Kennelly, Hunt (Davis & Webberley)
M: Ablett, Montagna, Swan, Gibbs, Boyd, Murphy (Rohan & Shuey)
R: Sandilands, NicNat (Trengove & Lobbe)
F: Pavlich, J Brown, ROK, Franklin, Goodes, Harvey, Rockliff (TDL & Roberts)

My backline is the obvious issue. My question though is:which of Kennelly & Hunt should I upgrade (leaving the other as D7 permanently)

If I'm trading Hunt, i'd do it this week, but if Kennelly then I'd wait until the 119 last week has maximised his price.

Any help much, much appreciated.

Thinking of going this week

Hille-> Cox
Ball -> Boyd

Main reason is I really need a top 4 finish in my league and have a few hard games coming up.

Would only leave me with 2 trades but a pretty good side with decent cover.

Thoughts?

IMO two trades won't be enough. Last 5-6 round is generally carnage. However the actual trades look fine (aside from Cox's durability issues)

I have 10 trades left

Yep 10.

Concentrating on a league victory.

My options

Scenario 1

Trade Silvagni down to the young west coast defender and make 100k
Upgrade Ballantyne to Pavlich

Scenario 2

Trade Luke Ball to Dan Conners and make 50k
Upgrade Balla to Pav

Have not seen enough of Conners but he is ripping it. Ball's price on the decline - yes it's a risk but I've got some trades to burn and it might pay off big time.

Scenario 2 also gives another week or two for the prices of back bench warmers Webberly and Silvagni to appreciate further

Am I nuts?

Hey boys.

Got a couple options in my team and not too sure where to go. I have in mind maybe 1 or 2 upgrades remaining as im not going for the overall comp obviously, just league so with 6 trades left im trying to hold them.

My players i can downgrade aree Armstrong and Zeibell, Zeibell is obviously priority one as he isnt playing again, so im looking at bringing in TDL but not sure how many games he will play. Heres my team, so let me know what you guys think, it would be a great help

Just went Betts->Pavlich and Moles ->Sylvia 2 trades left. Traded Betts because he doesn't have many easy games left (only West Coast and Essendon). Should be enough cover for the rest of the season.

arrrgggnot sure whether to trade....

with 4 trades now not sure whther to do Ball to Ablett (or someone under 455k - gaz is prob best value right)??? - ashame i cant do boyd!
....leaving me with dangerfield as 7th forward (which im not to concerned about :p...

thx guys

Here is my team, 6 trades, 170k:

I'm also going for a league win and am a bit conflicted about what to do. One issue is definitely the rucks - I have no cover and Mitch Clark is a bit weak also. I was thinking about bringing Tippett onto my forwards bench - crazy move?

Anyone got any suggestions on what to do with this team?

It depends on your bench cover. If you have decent cover I would consider a trade, but given Ablett's form of late I would probably be more inclined to bring in judd and save some cash for later. If your bench is weak, save the trades and cash for donuts later on - you will need them.

No need to do that mate until Clark starts showing signs of being rested/not playing. Bide your trades as your squad looks very sound and unless injury hits, you have no reason to trade at this stage I'd say. Majority of people do not have ruck cover and Warnock may play this week anyway.

No. Waste having Tippett on the bench so only do a ruck trade when Clark goes down or loses form completely. You'll have the cash and 6 trades which is enough to do it if you need to later so no need to press the button now.

Cheers. I find myself quite tempted to start bringing in gun bench cover, with the idea that a lot of the outs in later rounds are just players getting rested, which is usually only one round. If they are an elite player (eg. Sandilands, Montagna) then you are going to want to have them the following week, so my thought is that by getting a few bench guns in, I can cover myself for those weeks, as well as injuries.

For instance, if in the next few weeks I went:
Webberley to Scotland
Martin to Chapman
Hitchcock to Tippett
Hunt to rookie

I would only have two trades left, but I would have quality bench cover in every position, and probably be able to cover most outs in dt finals without much, if any, loss in scoring potential...

OK, third time lucky :)

I have Kennelly & J. Hunt on-field. Who should i upgrade (leaving the other as semi-permanent D7)???

Personally I'd upgrade Kennelly on the basis he's more prone to injuries however the decision is probably close enough I'd almost base my decision on whether Hunt allows me to get a more ideal player than Kennelly due to his higher value.

Considering this: Webberley to Smith(WCE) & Hall to Chappy(better late than never;))

Would end up with this:
Goddard, Hodge, Enright, Gilbee, Shaw, Waters, Carazzo. (Hunt Smith)
Swan, Bartel, Montagna, Gibbs, Kornes, Cross. (Trengove, Gysberts)
Sandi, Cox. (White, Warnock)
Pav, Goodes, Chappy, O'Keefe, Buddy, Pods, Harvey (Peterson, Schulz)

Leaving 3 trades & bugger all cash.
Worth doing?

Agreeed! id hold onto hunt in the D7 spot. He may not have the ceiling of Kenelly but he is more durable which can play a big part in the final few rounds when trades are running low.

While I'll probably be ridiculed does anyone think that it's viable to downgrade Waters to a Scotland or Carrazzo?

While I am opposed to sidewise trades the fact of the matter is I lack the cash cows to downgrade to safely upgrade my team and have bench cover.

My team is as follows;

Hodge, Goddard, Lake, Gilbert, Enright, Duffield, Waters [Webberley, Strijk]
Montagna, Bartel, Hayes, Gibbs, Martin, Stevenson [Cunnington, McNeil]
Sandilands, Cox [Warnock, McNamara]
Thomas, Pavlich, O'Keefe, Goodes, Giansiracusa, Franklin, Hitchcock [Gumbleton, Relton]

$228,100 and 9 Trades

I really need one or two downgrade forward options over the next few weeks. Are TDL and Robbie Tarrant as good as it's going to get, or are there others that people know about?

Final midfield upgrade to happen for me this week.. I know, I know, it's taken long enough. To many other issues.

Im currently ranked 2,101 with 7 trades and $125,300 in the bank.

I've gotta upgrade Bastinac..

My current midfield keepers are Swan, Montag, Bartel, Boyd, JSelwood.

My options are as follows.

> Make no other trades, and upgrade Bastinc>Judd. I have the exact amount needed, down to the last dollar.

>Trade Shuey to McNeil, creating DP link with my many Forward/Mids... I have Lewis Stevenson who should cover for the rest of the year anyway. That trade allows me to turn Bastinac into Ablett.

>Trade Wonamaeri to TDL, giving me another player bench reserve (Gumby my other), but leaves me with the opportunity to get any midfield worth less than 442,100, such as Gibbs, hayes, dal santo, pendles, mitchell etc..

Help me out gentlemen, opinions please!?!? :)

Right now, I'm leaning towards going Ablett because im a point hungry SOB, but Judd with a single trade seems pretty good.. keeping an extra trade to "luxury" upgrade someone like Pods, Waters or Hargrave.

I'd be leaning towards the Shuey/Ablett combo. Don't bother with Dennis-Lane as you get more money off Shuey and DL is far from a settled bench player you'd rely on.

Bastinac to Judd is an OK trade, the question is whether or not you foresee the likelyhood of being able to avoid a zero in the future by having McNeil. If so you're going to bring him in eventually so it may as well be now to maximise the gain.

Cheers for the reply mate.

Similar thought process to me, I am going for a league win but I like to finish as high as possible as well. The guys I will most likely end up playing in the final, which I should make, only 1 of the 4 has Ablett, so Ablett out Rd22 would be a killer, I would probably have to keep a trade to cover that.

Basti to Judd intrigues me, Judd willplay everygame barring injury, but I just don't trust him as a DT'er. He is quite likely to pull out a 85 in an important match, but still play well on the actual field. But just making the one trade leaves me with the opportunity for perhaps an extra upgrade, or an extra trade in the last few rounds.

I don't mind the idea of Sam Mitchell actually.. Dal Santo i don't trust, Hayes I suspect will get rested, Pendles could be an option..

argh, it's all to hard :p

Question bump.

Robbie Tarrant a viable downgrade (from Gumbleton)?

Will leave me with a bench of Tarrant, Stewart ... a bit exposed?
