I've got the cash to upgrade Trengove or Martin.

For Martin, 367,000.

For Trengove, 389,600.

There's a fair amount of names;
--------- 389,600
Carrazzo
Harvey
--------- 367,000
Bateman
Black
Kirk
Ball
Pearce
Petterd
Burgoyne
Hill

I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas of who to pick up for around that price, or if to trade them at all?

Rome burns while Nero fiddles!!!!!

I don't see the problem with making early adjustments to your team. I made 2 trades after round 2, prior to the first price adjustments. Upgraded Hall to Brown, and downgraded Wright to Peterson. In terms of points and cash, both trades have been a winner.

Yeah true. Both trades have been great. But how many will you have left after this round. With 18 rounds to go people look like they only have 14-15 trades left. Most people will make 2 this week and if you picked Riewoldt you would've made 1 or 2 last week. The best time to upgrade is between rounds 6-10 and i would be looking to use 8 during this time.

So i was in your case i would have 15 trades left with about 7 after round 10 if not even less. There is no way those people will last.

Id hang on for a few weeks and hopefully they will make enough for you to upgrade to a genuine premium player, Judd Hayes ect are all around the 420 mark..

My question is fairly similar:

I'm looking to upgrade Masten and have about 490k to spend:

Option 1:

Dal Santo, Swann, Bartell, Boyd or Montagna who are all around the 470-490k mark

or

Option 2:

Judd, Hayes, Gibbs or Murphy which would allow me to save up 70k for future upgrades

Which option and which player would you choose, at this stage I'm thinking Judd which would leave me 75k in the bank

I didn't have Riewoldt, so I've only made 2 trades to date.

Will make at least 1, maybe 2 trades this week. Both are downgrades in order to generate cash.

My backline (including bench) has been sensational, so at this stage no upgrades required.

Assuming Barlow is a keeper, 2 upgrades required for the starting mids, and I'm happy with the bench.

Also 2 upgrades required for the forwards, but not happy with the bench, even though Gumby is still making money.

In a perfect world, by round 11 I'll have 22 keepers, and 10 trades to cover injuries.

Is Kurt Tippett worth keeping at his price with not much in the bank?

Consdidering downgrading Dangerfield to Rockliff this week to generate some cash for when Martin/Trengove peak.

Also, how long is Shuey out for?

I have 5 def keepers in the Backline, but dont have Goddard. Im gonna keep Waters til at least round 9 or 10 because he's scoring well and may be good enough for my 7th back, and Hunt is my other back. Should i do a cheap upgrade to hargrave next week or the week after provided he shows something or do i need to get Goddard in ASAP?

Tippets a tough one. Ill probably keep him at this stage just because i still believe he could not possible continue to go on playing as badly as this for the entire season. He will have to lift at some stage. Also i selected him as a keeper and didnt factor him into my trading plan and hoping i dont have to. With that being said every week goes by is looking worse and worse!

Danger to rockliff is a good trade IMO. If you wanna net even more cash go pods. Both have similar job security imo.

Shuey is still listed as round 5 return on the afl injury website however someone posted a link in another thread today saying he is out for an expended period of time with kerr. Still waiting on further word

what are peoples thoughts on sylvia?
looked good against richmond.. i know its only richmond but it was his first game back for 6 or so weeks. Looking very fit.
Not too sure on him though as he looked to have played a high forward role on the weekend as opposed to midfield like last year.
Any melbourne fans that could shed some light on his current playing position in the side and whether this will have any effect on some of the new gamers in trengove, scully, bail .etc.

I have the money in the bank to trade medhurst up to anyone
looking at goodes or sylvia.
any feedback at all would be greatly appreciated

Wait a couple of weeks, I'd be looking at trying to get Gibbs into your team when his price bottoms out.

You have to ask yourself the question who would you trade Tippett to?

Either sideways trade to Hille or upgrade to Cox or Kreuzer. They are the only options and you cant really be to confdent with either. A good trade will net you around 300 points and that is the aim. IMO you have to wait one more week with Cox just to see if he looks back in form.

Unsure if Hille is a keeper? may require another trade, although i think hes the real deal 80 avg.

Kreuzer i have the doubt over carlton needing him forward still, also only avg like mid 60% for TOG.

Trading down Medhurst to fund another trade is fine. But trading Hitchcock for Pods seems to make little sense. And trading Brown for Pav is bewildering. They'll probably average similar scores for the remainder of the season. Even a DT newbie like me can see that is a nothing trade at best, and one that may even cost you points.

I don't think Hitchcock -> Pods is a particularly bad trade. Hitchcock is getting very little time in any position other than the forward pocket and is thus scoring quite mediocre. He has had a few spurts in the midfield but with Gray, Rodan, Hartlett all returning to the side you would think his midfield time would be very very limited. Admittedly after the Saints this week, we have a pretty light schedule but at the moment I don't really see Hitchcock scoring more than 65-70 points in a game.

Podsiadly is doing brilliant at the moment and his place in the side is becoming more secure by the week. Geelong have Calrton and Richmond in the next two weeks. After that their schedule seems to get a fair bit tougher but at the moment Podsiadly is on fire and a trade from Hitchcock this weeks makes about 70k which could potentially be very useful to upgrades this week or in the next few weeks whereas it will take several more weeks for Hitchcock to peak, particularly after a score of 32.

I think it is a decent trade and if the 70k you gain is useful to your team now it becomes even better. I am definitely doing Roberts -> Podsiadly this week. You need to make cash in this game and the quicker the better.

really struggling this year looks like a lost cause for me as im @ about 38,000 ranking.

With 416,500 in the bank i am thinking of downgrading Ziebell to Rockliff and Hitchcock to Podsiadly which will get me about $660,000 to upgrade my mids in a few rounds to some dt guns.

I also only have 16 trades so really I am going for broke and hope this pays off.

I've made the same mistake I do every year and traded out relton Roberts for podsiadly. Sideways trades are just something I can't resist. Also got rid of tippett who is the most disappointing player this season. Brought in rockliff.

Traded out the injured Luke Shuey and brought in Mitch Duncan as a midfielder so that I can take advantage of the 'dual positioning' system.

Mitchell's injured and will just miss 2-3 weeks hopefully, so I used Ryan O'Keefe to 'replace' Mitchell, who is on my fantasy bench and Duncan is my 4th fantasy forward.

There is no word on the Hawks about Mitchell's injury, so do I leave him on my fantasy bench or trade him out in a couple of weeks time?

I'm thinking of trading Seaby to Cox.

Seaby's b/e is 108 - this means that his price will most likely drop. However, Cox has a b/e of 106 so he is a good chance (not a certainty) to drop in price as well.

Do people think that this week is the ideal time to do this trade? Cox has come down in price by 91,000 and looks like he is finally hitting some form. Seaby doesn't look like being a keeper and has risen by 36,000.

On a side note: I'm getting these breakevens off fanfooty - are these 100% accurate?

the biggest mistake you are making here is trading on a monday - wait until friday so that you are sure these players will be playing! the prices won't change during the week!

I have Mayne, Rockliff and Hitchcock as my bottom three forwards.
Is it worth downgrading Mayne for Pods and starting one of Rockliff/Pods to gain around 200K or just go for the lesser earning swap of Hitchcock for Pods?

That is a nothing trade, absolute nothing trade. You currently have a cash cow that still have a couple of gains to make, every guy you named barring maybe Kirky is not a keeper. Far better off waiting another week, taking the 20k on the guy you hold and the -20k on Gibbs and getting someone like him instead. Ideally you hold them a couple.

You need to get a premium keeper or a cash cow out of a trade. If you aren't getting one or the other don't make the trade. If you can't see a midfielder average 100 from here on out you shouldn't be trading them in, full stop, period.

So let me get this straight... You picked a guy who is halfway into his price rise already purely because you could put him in the forward line and put another guy in the midfield?

You do realise that they score the same whether they are a mid or a forward right? So Duncan in the middle still scores 80 and ROK in the forward still gets 100... You also traded on a Monday? Surely you'd have been better leaving ROK as a forward and picking up someone like Lucas, who has yet to rise...

I think the DP thing is really an illusion, it offers no value because there are no back/forward switches(worth having). If you have a guy who is a forward/back and midfield you pick him as a forward or back because he offers more value there. There are plenty of premium mids and rookie mids, why waste a forward or back in there?

I'm in some real trouble here. I'm ranked about 80,000 and have not yet gone past 1900 on the scoreboard. I've got some good players that have been very disappointing. I have 30,800 left in the bank, what should I do?

Underperforming stars
Doughty
Simon Black
Masten
L.Ball
J.Selwood

Amazingly Seaby verses Cox this week. Those two breakevens are correct, not sure if all of FF are but those are.

Seaby won't make his BE and Cox will probably get close to it. However, I think you can afford to wait a week to make sure Cox is back to form and that the upgrade is worthwhile.

Seaby had 59% compared to Mumfords 81% last week, so he might get more TOG this week or he might be the 2nd ruck all year, it may only cost 5-10K to wait a week and find out.

Yes, waiting a week is what I am leaning towards but in terms of pricing, this week is really the ideal time to make the trade if we take for granted Cox will return to being a premium ruck.

On the b/e - do you have another source for finding these breakevens? There was a calculator where you entered the numbers yourself that was good last year but i cant find it this year..
