Opinion Dustin Martin is better than Dangerfield

Richmond fans who criticise Dangerfield for not being a match winner in finals are hilarious.

So you’re just going to completely the difference in quality between the two teams and the difference in the systems they play?

Martin is a superstar and an integral part to that 2017 premiership but he is far from the only reason they won that year. Hardwick figuring out a way to stifle oppositions with immense forward pressure and having a quality back six to mop up quick kicks is a giant reason they went from hopeless finalists in previous years to premiership winners. Then you add in all the other quality players who played a role.

Martin was huge but to act like he was the sole difference between him and Danger winning a flag is hilarious. Put Martin on the Cats the last few years and you’d see the same sort of performances. The Cats year after year have their bottom players get exposed as well as their gameplan when it gets into finals. To put that all on Dangerfield is garbage.

I preferred it when Richmond we're cooked at the start of the year and their brave fans were back in their box. A Richmond loss gives me more pleasure than a West Coast win. Trolls win

Danger was great last night. Difference I'd say is that Danger runs straight forward and drives the ball there, dusty loves diagonals and opens the game up with that movement.

I'd say this is why Dusty is the more valuable player, when he plays well the whole game opens up and he doesn't need to play a blinder to have a big impact. Danger has direct impact and I would say is unrivalled in the league in that respect.

That doesn’t mean Dangerfield isn’t a match winner.

There are really people on here criticising Dangerfield after last night? We are talking about one of the greatest finals players ever here right?

Heroic performance by Dangerfied last night. Agree with the thread-bumper that Danger plays hero ball, tries to do it all himself and doesn't necessarily make his teammates better. But that's his style. He brings out the best in himself, but it doesn't always work out for the team. He's not infallible. Many of the superstars are like that: Fyfe, Buddy, Judd, N.Riewoldt, Ablett snr.

Anyway... the gauntlet has been thrown down.

The pressure is now on Dusty to produce an MVP performance and deliver victory at the Gabba tonight :)

Its fair to say I've been a critic of Dangers ball use over the years but he was head and shoulders BOG for Geelong last night and I honestly believe had he even been given a slight chop out by some of their other 'stars' they could have won.
Dusty is a great player, one of the best and has Danger covered for decision making and ball use, but he isn't the guy to drag his team over the line when their backs are to the wall, Danger almost did in what reminded me of some of the great lone hand game winning performances of the likes of Carey etc.

Both players are brilliant...dusty gets the nod due to his better skills and ability to bring his teammates into the game... his overall game is stronger.
another major difference between the two is when they play poor games...dusty still has the ability to kick goals...tonight’s he’s had 8 kicks, barely touched it yet he’s kicked 3.0 and will win the tigers the game.
Danger’s bad games are really poor.

Agree on this part 100%..

On basic stats Danger is possibly better but tries to do too much himself. But maybe thats my impression from seeing too many of his team mates this year not lifting when they need to. Danger carried the team last night.

I love how clinical Dusty is, and how much of it Danger gets.

Kicking goals playing permanent forward after the midfield gets on top...
So he's a downhill skier?

He’s won Richmond the game...that’s why he’s better than danger...has an awful first half but has the ability to go forward and kick multiple goals in a quarter to win his team the game. Danger just doesn’t do this..
