Ironic to see so many Richmond mods fending off North poster's...

Are you joking??? The only reason he hasn't signed is bcoz of money, end of story..... he's not going to north for love.
If you get him well done bcoz in my books his the best player in the league but don't kid yourself.
It all about the kanga haha

He's not joking. He's dead serious and also spot on.

If Dusty loves Richmond he would've signed up already and not be a potential distraction come finals.

I particularly enjoy the idea of Joyce and Scott sitting around brainstorming ideas on how to get Martin, going "well, Cam, I'm just about plumb out of ideas!"

Then one of them goes "I've got it! $1.5 million a season!", and they start dancing around a maypole.

Six months down the track they have the slapstick routine of Ben Brown coming to the club with his manager going "I'd love a contract extension" and Joyce and Scott turning to camera, pulling their pockets out of their pants and showing nothing but lint, and doing an old-timey grimace and shake of the head.

It's like the media think the people running the club are ******* amateurs. FFS Augustine's breakdown of the cap, presuming all the numbers are correct, is a more complete piece of analytical journalism than anything that's been posted on any of the major newspapers for the past year and a half.

Joyce and Scott are professionals and our list management team aren't a pack of incompetent buffoons sitting around pulling cheques out of thin air going "well we'll deal with the consequences of this when they arise".

This is corking.

Especially the mental image:

How bloody good does it feel as staunch as **** North Melbourne people, knowing that we have attracted the best (or 2nd best) player in the league to our club. Going to the football every week next year is going to be so damn enjoyable. First home game next year the beers are on the tig nuffies that gambled on Dusty staying for shit money at a shit club.
And what will make it sweeter (and there is nothing surer) they will schedule us against the tiggers in Round 1 - our home game - yeah baby!

Scuttlebutt has it that his mum is on a pretty fair pay packet, and there may be the odd pub or six that prop up his meager contract...

Inevitably a large parcel of swamp land along the Great Ocean Rd acquired by the Dangerfield family at a very reasonable price will be rezoned residential and dramatically increase in value.

I don't want Martin at our club, that 1.5 million can be spent on developing young players improving coaching staff.

Once Martin has he's money where is his incentive to put in a full effort, how will other players feel working alongside a bloke getting payed heaps more then themselves, Martin has a tendency to go off the rails and with all that money he will be vulnerable to do so.

I would rather just Kelly and some high draft picks and money spent in the coaching area, $1.5 million a year is out ragest Martin is not worth that much money.

How many times does it need to be said? This is the players salary spend not football department spend. They are two separate things.

Martin has been better than Kelly this season. If Kelly is worth it then so is Martin.
