I am a big Tulla fan but I think they are running out of steam. The results they have delivered this year are nothing short of amazing and hats off to Ash Manning and team but to have success at the pointy end you need a full squad plus some more in the twos and they simply don't have that left in their squad. It showed last week and I think it will again this week. I think Westy are done and with a young squad a year in Div 2 will be good for them so long as they can keep them all, Haddy are going to be too good. I think the Roys are hitting their straps and the Big Guy standing out is probably helping the team and I think they will hand it to the Burgers this weekend. Cragieburn have dodged a bullet this year and Westy took it for them. Taylors lakes go well against the weaker sides and will do this easily.

Big Guy you are referring to is easy two goal a game player, at minimum imo. Considering Glenroys 10 goal last quarter against Northern then losing by a goal;Glenroy would have won if big Lance had played....... fully agree Glenroy are playing good footy at the right time of the year. I would have to be mad not to play myself if I was Lance these opportunities don't come around too often....

TEAM.................P..W...L..D....%.....PTS
Northern Saints 15 13 2 0 153.44 52
Glenroy........... 15 11 3 1 155.46 46
Tullamarine..... 15 11 3 1 129.05 46
Taylors Lakes... 15 10 5 0 138.71 40
West Coburg...... 15 5 10 0 88.76 20
Hadfield............. 15 5 10 0 79.93 20
Craigieburn......... 15 2 13 0 60.75 8
Westmeadows..... 15 2 13 0 51.64 8

Also Northern smashing Tullamarine was interesting to say the least. Well done to NS, Tulla might be re-thinking how they may go about this final series...........

Glenroy and Northern playing solid footy atm and imo they will be playing each other in the GF.

2013 prediction
West Coburg- 2 GF appearances in a row shows they are around the money. Although it seems they have lost a few keys in the off season. Have lost Houcher (although i will believe this when i see it) Smith, Marwin and the Akkaris as well as Atik. Will also be without Fitax for most of the season. Rumour is Grainger also not playing. If all of these are correct then they will need to have recruited very well to stay in contention. Have some gun under 18s coming through as always. Always competitive in this division, should make top 4.

Lakes- Been very quiet in the off season with no real big ins our outs. Lose Dawson to the Goatherders but get Young from Abers. Another side with strong 18s and along with a gun midfield which include Desousa and Morelli the Lakes should have another big season. Top 2 for mind.

Roys- been one of the biggest movers in the off season adding to their already strong list. The last time Kite played at this level he kicked 90 in a far worse side. Also added some extra depth with Scibberras and Gilliland and a couple from Crazyburn. Easily the most potent fwd line with Woodhouse, Kite and Whitnal. Roys would be disappointed with anything less than a GF appearance.

Crazyburn- Back from the top flight after a didastrous 2012. The talk internally is they will come straight back up but losing Brooks, Baker, Hall and Boyal it will take a fair effort to achive this. Have picked up Gorden, Mcerlain and Kenna as well as a few others. I would expect them to be fighting for the 4th spot with a couple of others.

Tulla- not much action here. Get Egan back from the bush. But dont seem to have lost too much. Tulla were hit hard by injury last year and they struggle with depth so injuries hurt them badly. Have a strong backline and and a solid midfield. If they get all their players back who were inj in 2012 they could cause some damage but lack of depth hurts. Similar to crazyburn in the hunt for 4th spot.

North Saints- massive off season which sees two massive EDFL recruits in Nat & Fort Caruso. The addition of these guys could mean 4 or 5 extra wins for the saints. Also picked up Fida from Pacco and Abouied from Northcote Park. If these guys play up fwd with Ferraro it could make for a very dangerous fwd line to go with a midfield that conains 2x Caruso plus former comp medal winner Abdallah. Should finish top 3 as a minimum.

Haddy- very quiet off season with no big comings or goings. Young Wallace has gone to Pacco and the availability of Soncin is vital for the Hawks to win games. Another team with good under 18s who can hopefully push through and become good senior footballers. Have only played one final in about 10 years so would be desperate to see some september action. Just dont think they are there yet 5th - 8th.

Westy- all the rumblings are they are struggling but this happened a few years ago and they played in the prelim. Have some coin but sometimes dont spend it as wisely as they could. Big losses include Mullin, Olsen, Coles, Gilliland and Sing. Added to the fact they finished near the bottom last year it might be a long year for the Tigers. Expecting them to be trying to avoid relegation.

Going to be a cracking season and good luck to all teams and coaches.
Ladder prediction
Lakes
Roys
Saints
Tulla
WC
Crazy
Haddy
Westy

But spots 3 to 6 could all hinge on luck, form and inj.
Round 1
Roys to beat WC by 26
Lakes to beat crazy by 40
Tulla to beat saints by 1 point
Haddy to beat westy by 10
It worries me that 3 of those are the away sides.
Just looking at my preseason predictions. Not too bad if I do say so myself. Should be a cracking finals series. If it is a Saints V Roys Gf the crowd reactions would be fantastic both teams have big followings and fiery/passionate supporters.

He might kick 2 per game but how many would he cost them as his opponent runs off him with ease? Not in shape and is doing the right thing sitting out.

Probably should have been posted in the div 2 forum :p
Westmeadows are a Div 1 side so this is posted in the right spot. Also, with Burnside Heights coming in next year, no side is to be relegated from div 1. So Westy will be in Div.1 in 2014

I wonder if he will last more than 2 years at this joint??? If they think recruiting blokes from the WRFL will get them up the ladder maybe they should check with Rooney/cob dist cos they are shite

Surely they won't have a 9 team division 1 next year?

Disappointing performance by the Saints today. 7-17 or something like that. Didn't look like it all day. I'm to

ld they did rest a few and TL had a few back too.

Alot of cards being held well close to the chests atm... Finals will be a different story.

A 9 team division in Div1 seems more than likely with the introduction of Burnside Heights into Div2, that is if it does eventuate. Although the league is as yet to decide on this:thumbsu:

One week left then a three week finals series..... Oh Boy oh Boy Wowee:cool:

TL made them look bad,
Taylors did have a few ins, which seemed to do nothing at all.
Starting to play some better football and results will start showing.

westmeadows have appointed dave Connel as coach next year

Big news for Westmeadows as he is good coach and handy for Connel as he is a local lad. Always thought Yarra were mad to sack him after coaching them to flag last year in WRFL

Connel best mate Shan Broadbent will be joining him and already taken the sign on too and that will take it to his sixfth (I think) EDFL club and he has more clubs than John Burridge

Your news breaking is about a bad as damien barrets.
Firstly, i can garantee that he was not sacked, he informed us players and the club he was not seeking re appointment. And it makes complete sense he would move on to west meadows as he lives a kick down the street, and it will give him more time to spend with his young family. Also broadbent will play at deer park next year, fact.
Dont worry about how many clubs blokes have had, worry about your punctuation, and how many commers you place in your posts, i nearly went into cardiac arrest reading that.

I would be really surprised if Westy could out bid Deer Park. That's the only way he would get Broadbent over.

TL made them look bad,

Well, they did in the end, but I thought Northern lacked their usual intensity right from the start.

Taylors did have a few ins, which seemed to do nothing at all.

They did play well. Got some good size about them too. Still think Tulla will eliminate them first round of finals though.

Depends what TL team decide to come out and play,
On their day (rarely) will go close to going all the way.

Broadbent is too old and too slow, finished as a top line player.
Westy should be looking to spend its money on a younger man that can offer at least 3-4 years to the club for the same money.

Hello Mick my ol' mate

Shannon will dominate B Grade footy

You've been quiet lately, you stated Holland is the best coach in the EDFL, I disputed this and have been vindicated. A coach should be able to get results when push comes to shove for a finals spot late in the season, he has clearly failed. Now I think you owe me an apology
