Don't think much more can be added to this discussion, although I'd still like to see the club take this to AFL Vic as has been suggested. Failing that, time to move on.

Turbo, you are totally incorrect mate. Hillside only used one witness - their assistant coach & they also failed to produce any evidence of a broken jaw. No X-rays, doctors certificate or hospital records. You would think that now the EDFL have heard from one of their own officials that what hillside said at the tribunal was false information, they would reopen this case & give a fair hearing. I have no problem with the EDFL giving long suspensions if the punishment fits the crime, but it was not the case in this investigation. Like I said earlier, the tribunal had their minds made up before the hearing & are clearly trying to make a statementHeyyeah, I will say the Craigieburn player appears to have been given a fair sentence but also agree the player done for kicking should have got a life ban.
There is no excuses for either incident and both are not what we want to see in football games.
I can't believe all these posts as it's totally incorrect. I heard the evidence was very strong, and there were a number of witnesses and it was clearly outside the rules.
Good to you get involved Bllly with writing crap as usual. I made some calls and if your incorrect again. Why don't you ask around on Saturday (seeing your playing Hillside) and speak to the kid and his family. I'm sure they will be happy to meet you.. Your post is utter lies..
For the record, I don't have any issues with Players going in hard and the odd show of strength but these types of incidents should never occur in today's footy..
Hey Willo, wasn't the said player from Craigieburn selected by the senior coach to play in a senior final last year. I heard it wasn't due to his form warranting a senior game, but he was asked to do a task for the coach. I know a number of EDS players were ready for it, as were some parents of some players if anything untoward happened to their family member. I hope I'm not right but I'm not the only one who was aware of this.
Someone told me he was not quick enough to catch any of the EDS players besides EDS #6 and chose not to go near him.
Anyway it's over with now and has the suspension made the player deregistered, as his accumulated over 16 weeks in his total career..
Can we get over all this talk, now we are going back to 2012.
Tips this weekend

Firstly - I would like to mention that the incident in the 2012 GF between APW and WC shouldn't be compared to any incident unless it is an "alleged" vilification related incident, I am in no way condoning what happened but I played at WC for years and some of the things i've heard said to some of our players from oppostion and supporters its no wonder we eventually had this type of incident!
Secondly - @larks talk about throwing stones in glass houses, I played in that reserves game you've mentioned and the retaliation from the Glenroy captain that day was almost as bad as the initial incident, I'm not saying he king hit him as I didn't see how it started but he did throw a number of punches and incite and all in brawl, you say we did the right thing by taking a stance on it, while 5 weeks later the glenroy bloke running around sniping blokes in a final at coburg, so how can you call on clubs to take things into there own hands when a club you've clearly been involved with does not?
Exactly right Billy no evidence and the bloke still copped 10Also no evidence of the alleged broken jaw was produced
Winter was seen at the doctors last week with a bandage or brace on his knee. Maybe only minor but could also be a serious one.I'm not sure why you've dug into the incident on your second point as all I did was commended West Coburg for the stance they took, I know that glenroy kid quite well as my son is mates with him and have watched him play a lot of senior and reserve footy, he plays the game as physical as anyone I've seen but in know way is he dirty and I'm dissapointed that you have bought him into this conversation as it was 4 years ago and if my memory serves me correct he was suspended by the tribunal anyway, all I was trying to elude to by using this example was if things happen on a footy field that are missed by officials hopefully clubs will not stand for the behaviour!
Anyway lets get off this topic as back2future said we have the best div1 in metro comps lets talk footy!
Interesting the CB v Roys game this week the 2 games last yr were very close as glenroy match up very well on CB, I've seen couple of games from both sides this year but can't see it happening this year, cragieburn recruited more guns again and unfortunately the roys seem to have stalled as a lot of there recruits from lower levels aren't cutting the mustard at this level! I noticed winter wasn't in teams sheets last week. Inj? I don't think they can get with in 10 goals with out him!
I really hope they do take it to AFL Vic because I am certain the player would be back playing the next weekExactly right Billy no evidence and the bloke still copped 10
Was one word against the other
Now a bloke is sitting out 10 for something he has not done
Why didn't they appeal the original decision if you like said the evidence was minimal. Also was the EDFL investigator Steele Waterman former Inspector of Victoria Police. Highly regarded individual and been investigating for the EDFL for years. If it was I'm sure that he would have been very detailed report and that might have been the reason behind the heavy suspension. I find it bizarre that the EDFL official didn't give evidence to the investigating officer and only waited till after tribunal result to mention he was at the game.I really hope they do take it to AFL Vic because I am certain the player would be back playing the next week

Like collywobble said CBs President was overseas & with no treasurer didn't have access to the money. They only gave 24 hrs to appeal so ran out of time. The official that was at the game didn't know about the investigation until the morning after the tribunal handed down their sentence & found out that hillside had lied through their teeth to get the player rubbed out. That's why he wrote the letter because he knew a player had been wrongly suspended. The umpires didn't report the player until after the game after hillside complained. The umpires withdrew the report on the Tuesday due to insufficient evidence. The CB player played the following week & was told after that game that he had to front the investigation tribunal. If CB had known that an official was at that game & witnessed what happened, no doubt they would've used him as a witness & the player involved would've got offWhy didn't they appeal the original decision if you like said the evidence was minimal. He might have been doing work experience at that clinic and forgot to take off the practice brace!Winter was seen at the doctors last week with a bandage or brace on his knee. Maybe only minor but could also be a serious one.
will miss a couple of weeksHe might have been doing work experience at that clinic and forgot to take off the practice brace!
