Of what I've seen of the sharks midfield they are very good when it's on their terms but when there is a little bit of pressure and they have to do a bit of 2 way running they are a rabble , Burns should have a good look out whose coaching these blokes if his putting trust into his line coaches
Agreed. They are downhill skiers. When things go their way they are nearly unstoppable but if not then they relie on their back 6 to limit the scoring because they refuse to go past the Center square defensively

Not sure it's a good idea for opposition coaches to be on this forum bagging other clubs. Yes agree Hillside have lost their way and could struggle to regroup, but that depends on the character of the group. No question the coach is standing firm and a person who has the respect of the group amongst others. Probably lucky they have a strong coach ATM.

Interesting to see some Hillside players playing the man instead of the ball. Other than it was a good game flowing from end to end.

So every club has played each other in this division as of tonight.
Tullamarine once again have so far proven the so called 'experts' wrong. Second on the ladder and a game clear of third.
They are well coached which allows changes in player personnel to not affect their output as much as maybe it would other clubs as their structures are first rate.
Glenroy - after generally been touted every preseason as favourites or thereabouts every year have done a super job thus far and deserve to be sitting a game clear on top.
Airport West v Tulla this week will be a huge game and a win to the demons could almost cement their chances in the top 2 come seasons end.

There is a difference between tough and cheap shots.
you are kidding if you think any of these hard bumps were cheap shots , absolutely nothing wrong with all but maybe one just late bump , umpires were again terrible , I continually hear how bad it is in premier, boys if you want to see over umpiring come and watch a game in B grade as it continues to become a real issue, games are that close that the umps can decide games through there decisions .
I am not saying they do so as cheats but as uneducated men trying to earn a bit of extra coin on a weekend .
There boss needs to educate them on how the game is played at local level. Every hip and shoulder is not a free kick it is just hard football .
In the first half free's went APW way in the third quarter Hillside, in the last all APW but Hillside were able to get the job done.
Lots of really good young talent on show, great theatre at APW , big crowd , good B Grade footy at its best .

Half way through the year - Where is every team sitting?

1 – Glenroy. The team to beat with the best fwd line set up in the division. With Adam Winter, Jayden Walker, Luke Capuano and the even the possibility of moving Travis Dulic fwd they deservedly sit on top of the ladder. They also have a strong midfield.

2 – Tullamarine. Hard to get a read on Tulla, and have probably been written off too easily again. They have the best def in the league with Russel Laurie & Craig Steele and are always hard to kick a score against. Their midfield is very strong as well, and somehow seem to be getting the wins each week.

3 – Airport West. Not sure how to rate APW. Playing for top spot only a few weeks ago and have since dropped the past 2 and slip to third. Have a really classy midfield with the likes of Ricky McVeigh and A-Grade experience across the ground. Should be a cracking game this week vs Tulla.

4 – Hillside. Has been a season of two halves. Started the year off looking like the team to beat then scrapped over the line vs Oak Park before losing to Westmeadows, Glenroy, Tullamarine. Redeemed themselves last week with a win over APW and are a good young side, that on their day can beat anyone. The recent loss of Jimmy Micallef is a big loss but I’m tipping them to come home strong.

5 – Taylors Lakes. Have been the surprise team so far. Did not think Taylors Lakes would be sitting above Westmeadows or Oak Park, but they are and are a real shot to be playing finals this year. Have an even spread of talent with plenty of goal kickers and when Matt Morelli is playing at his they are a good side. Hard to beat on their home deck too. Need to beat Hillside this week.

6 - Westmeadows. Didn’t think they’d be sitting 6th on the ladder. For all the preseason hype, they havn’t improved on last year and have had some bad losses to sides on paper they should beat. Mitch Church is still one of the most dangerous forwards in the comp but doesn’t have much support around him and the midfield looks slow at times. Huge game this week against Oak Park away.

7 – Oak Park. From Prelim finalists to playing for their season this week. 3 wins 5 losses could have easily been 6-2 and have been in a winning position in almost every game. Need to beat Westmeadows this week or the season is over. Have a great midfield with Jack Pascu, Cameron Hare and Danny Rajab but seem to keep falling short. Still a chance for finals.

8 – East Keilor. By no means the easy beats and could have been on 5 wins had they won the close contests. Won’t be playing finals but could still cause some upsets that can reshape the final positons. Have some gun players in their side like Ash Arrowsmith and Nick Grigg has been good up fwd each week and will be looking to build for next year.

9 – Hadfield. Won’t be playing finals and the only interest in their games will be how much % each other team generates from them. Very disappointing but hopefully can turn it around in DIV 3 next year.

Just watched Westmeadows get trounced by Tulla, they only kicked 5 for the day and never looked in it at all. Forward line needs more support than just Church.

What has happened to APW in the past few weeks. Certainly look as if they are missing something or someone. Another coach that needs to be shown the door.

Not sure if anyone can confirm but i thought i saw the APW coach storm out of the rooms straight after the game yesterday. This comp is very even so full credit to Lakes for a wonderful win away from home.

Is Westy any chance to play finals Usain? They can certainly cause some damage if they snuck in

It's a must win against Glenroy this week if they loose an airport west knock off haddy there 8 points out of the 4 it's long way back from there hopefully they can turn it around cause they are capable of causing damage on there Day

Massive ask for DC to get the boys up for a rampant Roys fair to say APW will have poor Haddy covered. Glenroy might be on line for a hiccup but i highly doubt it. Season on the line can WM pull a rabbit out of a hat?

Westmeadows year is over, won't get anywhere near Glenroy. It's time to start playing some kids in the seniors for the upcoming year. With the list they have, you'd think they would be top 2. Obviously recruiting so many guys from different clubs has not worked. Young kids coming up need experience, perfect opportunity the next couple of weeks.

What's in store for Westy in 2018? Home grown talent? Younger players? A new coach?
