You mean best bought side in the last 2 decades - The Avondale Heights Side of 2004 was the best side, as they developed that side.

Undefeated all year and also smashed Pascoe Vale in GF.
I beg to differ. Oak Park never went out and bought that side. Quite a number of those players played juniors at the club as well. Only spent roughly the same as last year. All players stuck around and took pay cuts to allow club to spend that money on what they needed and it worked in their favor. I guess they just really wanted to redeem themselves from what happened the year before. Probably showed the difference between the two grades, fitness and skill wise

got down to the game yesterday...was a great spectacle. Well done to marby on a successful year, and of course, bad luck to the jets.
perhaps it is irrelevant bringing this up, and in no way do i mean to be disrespectful, but how on earth did heath ayres win the best on award????? surely it should have went to either number 25 (who kicked a bag) or jackson barling who was instrumental.

i rate heath ayres hugely but surely he was not even in the top 5 for them yesterday. all this really does is take away some of the credibility of his league b&f - not to say that he didn't deserve it but it makes you question the votes he must have got and whether they were deserved.
that aside, it was a fantastic game.

it will be interesting to see if marby sit back over the off season and try to retain their list, or if they will be aggressive in their recruiting once again. the jets will no doubt look for a few key recruits to ensure that there isn't anotehr grand final loss.

over and out for the year!!

Its a joke Heath Ayres got best on ground, he did nothing in the first half. Gareth Daley number 25 was easily best with Barling 2nd best. The team of the year was also a joke.

For once we agree on something :) This is my post from the EDFL site....

"Great win by Marby.

Although Heath Ayres was great in the 2nd half I think he only came into the game after half time. Until then, in what I think was a strange move he was left up forward and well held by Burns of Greenvale. Once on the ball he was unstopable.

For me Jackson Barling was BOG. He played back and forward and caused problems for Greenvale at both ends all day.

Holland was also good."

How Gareth Daley didn't win the medal is an absolute joke. His kicking in the conditions was first rate. He's kicked 5 or 6 goals (?) out of the 14, and wasn't beaten too often with the amount of footy directed at him. Can someone tell me if the Coaches choose the best on ground, or is it left up to 'the Incredibles' of the EDFL Management? Just having a crack at the voting, only in my opinion, I would've went:
3 Daley / 2 Barling / 1 Randello.
Just felt through the midfield Randello was very good, Barling was very good down back & took some telling marks up fwd, and as mentioned above Daley was excellent.

What about the bloke who kicked 7goals including 3 from outside fifty????
He kicked half of marbys goals, who is that bloke number 25 he wore?.
He was a match winner

In junior grades BOG was nominated by the Coach.

well must agree number 25 for marby turned the game on its ear 3goals in the second 2 in the third against the wind where goals were hard to get then 2 in the last so by far the standout performer on the ground so surley should have won the best on ground kicking goals wins gfin and that young fella certainaly did that number 20 & 26 also had great games

Gareth Daley ended up with 8 kicks 2 handballs. 7 goals straight.
Ayres 30 touches, Bullen 27. But I thought young Dennis was pretty good too.
Not sure on the other stats thou.

Yeah I agree. He had a great game. To be honest I didn't think he kicked that many. He had one of those games I think where he, from my point of view went under the radar. He didn't carry the ball for longs runs etc. No doubt if he kicked 7 then he was the difference. Only seen him pop up after the GV fullback done his knee early in the 2nd.

Still for me Barling controlled both ends and monstered the opposition. I think Daley was on the end of some very good work up the ground.

Just an opinion

I agree not sure how he won as i thought Gareth daley was clearly BOG, 7 goals was a massive effort. Why did Heath ayres start in the forward pocket in the first quarter as he was wasted there?

I thought Daley, Barling and Ayers were easily the best three on the ground. You could put them in any order.....so I think Ayers was very deserving of the award. He was inspirational in the last half.

What a beautitful day September 13 turned out to be

Maribyrnongn Park Football Club 2009 EDFL A Grade Premiers

Now for back to back in 2010 :D

Go Marby!!!!

No doubt Daley was BOG closely followed by Barling who was very good at both ends. Ayres was unsighted in first half. I think the Jets ran out of legs yesterday and the loss of TK at CHB was costly (as he is the best spoiler going around) especially when Barling went forward in last. They played the second half with one fit on the bench which is tough to do in a grand final against quality opposition.

Well done Marby too good when it counted....

I think Ayers was best because Greenvale led 4 goals to nil and Ayers went on the ball and won 4 clearnces in a row. 25 was stiff because 7 goals is a great effort and barling was also very good but clearances in GFs are a must and Ayers and Broadbent were sensational. Kelly gave them great service and Ayers was almost untacklible

If you were a Greenvale supporter you would be hoping that the club approach Macpherson this week & say mate your times up here at Greenvale.

Greenvale is now the laughing stock of the EDFL.

They need a new coach & a fresh start. They looked stale on the weekend & he just continues to get out coached on big games.

Also those fuc*ing ridiculous tops that the Greenvale chokers wear for there warm up, f*uk them right off, who do use think use are?

Fair Band Wagon you are driving there Mick. I actually stood next to blokes supporting MP at the GF on Sunday that new none of your players. Winning will do that to people.
Now that you have bagged your first flag (or do you count the Moonee Imps 1955,1960 flags) the pressure now is to establish the club as a stable and consistent club in the A Grade competition, not only in the Senior A Grade, but in the junior and U 18 ranks.

It's not ALL about the A Grade side.................or at least it shouldn't be.

Noticed that as well.
Mick, what'd mcpherson do? sorry must have missed it was too busy watching the marby trainer run at the greenvale bench and do the 'choke' sign.
Greenvale a laughing stock? i think not, see which of the sides fielded more former juniors.

Almost certain Nathan Brown will be at Marby next year, he was spotted watching the GF on the far wing with a hoody on

Was it a Marby Travisty Hoody, if so a a blue, white or pink one?? They do keep you warm on those cold winter days :thumbsu: but I must say some of the marby ladies do look good in the pink ones :D

Maybe you were standing next to the wrong sought of Marby supporters mate or you were blind if you could not see the support.

No mate we are not counting any other flags for your information and yes we are working hard on our juniors etc.

Its people like you that are negative and like bagging our club that makes us stronger. How did your team go mate and who do you support Mr Negative.( Looser !)

think you will find it is loser too...
