What about the Valley's Andrew McCarthy? Unlucky to miss the EDFL B Grade Rep side? Remember reading an article in the local rag about him burning up the track during pre-season and taking on a leadership role down there.

Any info on his form this year?

Newsflash, you must be someone that missed out!!!! I doubt very much that you would know half those players but continue on in your own little world and worry about stuff that is insignificant to you or many others.....

maybe you might get a gig next time, heres hoping.

If only you knew Sugark!

I never missed out, just telling you as l see it. Maybe your one of those players in B grade that blows his coach and buys him beers after the game? Get to training, get your shorts and your polo top!

Who are you then NewsFlash? You must be an awesome talent. There's some pretty handy players you have highlighted but surely you must be better.

I don't think I've seen Damian Zahra have more than 3 goals kicked on him in a game in over 10 years of senior footy. Mikka James would sit on your head and Houlihan has played AFL. You must be a Brownlow Medallist.

There are better players running around in the comp at the presnt time.

D.Zahra - cant play on middle size forwards.
M.James - current form - No
Houlihan - play a good quality backmen on him and he will go missing! Played league footy how long ago.

All thses players are easy to get into, have watched them all this season a number of times.
I have never played footy, lm a *******.

Quite the contrary NewsFlash, being in adelaide i am too far away to go training you fool but continue on highlighting people like barry brooks who played league footy last year. Just another narrow minded individual who gets there kicks out of sitting on a computer taking pot shots at individuals who are having a go!!!!

Just on the rep side for A grade. Have heard that it was heavily chosen by Super himself. Apparently he has had something to do with most of the players in his coaching time. Always going to be arguments with a rep squad but would have thought the 2 best in comp from last year may have got a look in? Dale May and Aaron Ramsay. Could have picked just about any 7 players from Greenvale.

That was the year before last Pappa B

Then l suggest you stay there. No need to big note yourself and brag that your playing footy in Adelaide or what eva you are doing there. Last time l checked playing footy over there doesn't make any better, just means you couldn't get a spot in the VFL here. Look forward to the Vic's smashing you boys again on Saturday.

As for my narrow mind, only if you new who were talking too!

I think NewsFlash is that fat bloke who used to wear No. 7 for West Coburg and had a run with Airport West last year yet only embaressed himself.

Newsflash, the fun part of all this is that I do know who I am talking to!!!!

It was only 10 years ago that doutta Stars had one team ONLY in al Juniors Grades from Under 10's through to Under 16's. They now have in the vicinity of 12 junior sides built up through hard work and a COMMITTED JUNIOR CLUB that looked after their kids.

It was ONLY a couple of years ago that Marby had 1 junior side in each grade, if that. Now they have atleast 1 in each age group, with some having 2 sides.

So i think that Marby are on the right track junior wise, and hopefully in a couple of years they will have a competetive u/18s side.

As most clubs know, it is a struggle to get u/18s to play footy these days, and with so many teams around the vicinity of Marby, it is a constant struggle to get them over to the club, but i know the club is working hard to rectify the problem with u/18s, as they have with the rest of their juniors over the last few years.

People seem to forget that Avondale Heights struggled for u/18s a couple of years ago, but no-one was calling for their heads, or calling them a disgrace.

Keilor Park has had to borrow players from Strathmore to feild a team this year, they have none at all

They forefeit their under 12's each week,

You could hardly say they are a Marby, paying heals for short term gain,

It just reflects the state of local football,

What ever happened to zones ??

When a kid can live in Taylor Lakes but play at Abers it os no wonder we have no local teams

You are WAY off the mark here mate. Marby Park are not a rich financial club. They are only a 26 year old club, with limited geographic family areas to get Juniors through the ranks making it hard.

People have to get clear. The only reason there a Senior players who get paid well is because they have a coach & his father that donate every year on PURELY MATCH PAYMENTS alone. The club begs to ask them if they can contribute a portion of the money to facilities, rooms, junior development, etc, but unfortunately it is there money and that is the way they want to spend it.
If I was donating $100K per year, I would at least give the club $20 - $40K to have nicer facilities and donate towards a more even playing surface.

In the Under 18 topic I heard they had 19 players,18,17,19 and then 13 to the cold week a fortnight ago. From all reports I heard they tried their guts out leaving pamphlets and school, offering incentives.

It is up to the league to ASSIST the club in everyway possible to get a team. Metropolitan Junior Football is a sport and not a business and the powerhouse clubs who have excessive kids missing out everyweekend for games should have day transfers for their players to play at the sides with low numbers like Marby Park.

Whatever happen to the days of helping each other out and looking after one another? The big guy's looking after the little guy's.
I can see it is selfish for any club or person not to promote a kid to play footy and have a kick with a team like Marby Park only if they are missing out on a spot in their club. THEY ARE STILL 16, 17 & 18 old kids and are much better playing football then not getting a game with their mates & just watching hanging around.

If the league contacted these clubs, organised match-day transfers, set guidelines up for Marby's club to accomodate them and then the boys still return to train with their own clubs and even improve their chances of getting selected at their OWN club the week after.

Personal greed is ruining Junior sport.

Let me set the RECORD straight the Major Sponsor are not ones to blow their bags but there is much they do behind the scene.
Frankly i am sick of them being continuously castigated with no foundation.
I know they have donated just a few items such as a Split A/C system, Tv,Tables/Chairs,Bar Trees,Rubdown tables,Portable heater.Freezers,After match player awards to Seniors/Reserves,Player Sponsorship,Raffle prizes,Portable Scoreboard and also cash toward the juniors. These are just a few items to help the club.
Further i also believe they were involved in the MVCC providing Coaches boxes and upgrade the Marby Park rooms this year.
Gradually the Club are getting help from the Council and the Committee have drawn up a Strategic plan looking to the future.
Maribyrnong Park appreciate the contribution of the major Sponsor who incidental have now been involved for 4 years so they are not fly by niters.
To me your comments reek of the TALL poppy syndrome and a pathetic attempt to undermine the success the club is now enjoying after many years in the wilderness.

PERHAPS COME TO A GAME AND SEE THE SUPPORT FROM ALL AREAS OF THE CLUB AND IN PARTICULAR THE LARGE ATTENDANCES AT THE "JUNIOR" LEVEL.

We'll see who gets blown come 7 June. Still 'teasing' the boys Tess :) Got a man yet?

Regards

She has been spotted in a green 4wheel drive which was towing a trailer with the advertising..."Smithy's Mowing" on the back and sides.....guy that looked like Carl Williams.....maybe he was rimming..ooops...I mean trimming some private hedges!!!

I think you blokes are missing the point a bit. The difference between Marby and Aberfeldie is not how much coin the 22 blokes on the field in the ones are being paid or how long they have been at the club. The major difference is seen in the junior setups, the crowds at the games, the blokes in the rooms after training or a match.

When I go down to Abers at least 80% of the under 18s are still there to support the ones, Marby don't even have an unders 18s.

Marby aren't really a club at the moment, the are the Glen Allison All Stars with some glory hunters down to see the spectcle and then the real Marby people.

I feel sorry for the real Marby people because when GA and his Dads money walks (and inevitable it will) what will that be left with? A string of fines, no juniors and no better off than they were five years ago, which was boardering on extinction.

Contrast that with Aberfeldie, who could lose all of the blokes there who are being paid (through money generated by the club rather than a benefactor), get relegated and still have three junior teams in every age group. Aberfeldie is a club built on the shoulders of the community and its supporters, with everyone contributing. Remove one, remove ten, remove one hundread of these people and Aberfeldie will be in a pretty similar position, there are plenty down there to step into the breach (not to under value the great job down by those down there at the moment). Thats what a club should be.

Remove GA from Marby and they will plummet like a stone. Thats not a club, that one bloke trying to prove to everyone else thats his penis is not as small as we all know it is.
Well put!!!
