Yes sorry, tongue in cheek with Goddard. Morris would be a fantastic get though once he finishes with AFL. 1 pointer for EDS, and a quality individual.
Morris will still play at the Dogs for another 10 years!

so what happens to GV now? Promote the reserve players to the firsts.
Anybody at the game today willing to give a report
Mmmm maybe they should of, I see they dropped some reserve players from the Keilor game which they had a good win in second last round, to make way for their injured, resting players, didn’t go to well for them, and see the reserves had a good win on Saturday with those players dropped back, after getting smashed by Keilor in the second last game of reserves.

It’s that time of year where names get picked instead of fit players. Been the downfall of many over the years, rookie error that no one ever learns from.

The same thing happened last year, giving GV no chance of betting Abers GF day, slow learners up section rd.
Maybe some 2’s boys will play this week.

Gv won’t have to worry about making the hard decisions because they’re no longer in it.

The team that loses on gf day will be the one who has the most amount of injured players and most amount of players who have just returned from their euro trips

Yeh your right, they’re gone, it Abers to to lose from here, 3 from 6 pass ?, 2 from 6 ?

Exactly disappointing to hear Chapman after the game on the radio admit he would like to recruit some players to help the likes of the big names Thompson, maric etc hence overlooking these fringe players time these players stop being loyal and move to clubs leagues, where they would get regular senior games no worries

It’s ok to have fringe players but when someone is half fit those fringe blokes should be straight in, especially in finals. A fit decent player will always have more impact than a half injured gun

In saying that gv would still need a couple of high profile recruits to stay competitive at the pointy end

Clearly not at Greenvale

I think that’s a fair assessment Queen. Out of all the 6 clubs at the top 1/2 of the ladder fighting for finals surely there spending budget would be the lowest. They didn’t really recruit anyone of note this season from memory, so I’m guessing they have budgeted to go after some recruits next season. I give them a pass mark on 2018.

I agree regarding preference in finals to “name” players but all clubs do it if they think it can gain an advantage. Always tough finals selection..

However jury still out on if Chappy is a good coach and can achieve a premiership over the next 2 years.

Their reserves have won the flag for the last three years or something and certainly look like doing it again this year. Surely that means they have some talent there just waiting for a chance. Their 3rd's used to go alright as well. That team was full of young blokes that didn't want to train too hard but had loads of talent.

Just because they are good reserves players doesn’t mean they are up to senior football. It’s a massive jump from reserves to seniors. So I applaud Chapman on trying to find another key fwd and key back. Probably another outside midfielder with class would help them.

Seem to do alright when played up or down. Your opinion if club wants to pay big bucks for ring ins, that play for a year or 2, good luck to them. As many a post on here, greenvale admiration was for their low point players prob paid Minimal outlay a week, I just think 21 years trying to break in for the last 3 years are soon going to get sick of playing reserves smashing teams each week how do they improve doing that.

You obviously no nothing about the Greenvale Fc. When was the last player that the brought on big bucks run after 1 season. I think you’ll find it never happened if it did maybe once. If you can’t break into the senior side after 3 seasons then maybe you need to look in the mirror and say how do I get better. Remember Michael tuck and dipper both played 90-100 reserve games for hawthorn before playing seniors. If you’ve done all that u can then maybe face the facts that you might not be good enough.

Absolutely and if you accept the fact that your not in the best 22-25 and you stay on because you love the club and win multiple 2’s flags, then you’d probably be quite content with your footy life.

Or maybe you want to get paid and see how good you are/can be.

Yes, I’ve posted this point before and lots of players do just that, it just seems that at Greenvale they’re happy playing 2’s.
There’s plenty of clubs not that far in away in lesser comps, Roxy, Sunbury Kangaroos, East Sunbury, Wallan, Kilmore, Diggers Rest, etc

My comment was not intended to greenvale football club about big players moving on after one year (as the club does not have a reputation for this), but in general they tend to move around when recruited to clubs of all leagues and divisions. And sick of the crap, exactly my point for the fringe players in bottom tier, the 5-7 that move up and down, Chapman desire to go recruiting, do they really want to commit to reserves for the rest of their life turning down other offers? Considering if all 7 played in one week when injuries, holidays are happening, would prob be equal to the amount one recruit would cost a week. Just my thoughts In general with so much talk of points, salary caps and how the end of season has panned out with different strategies of different clubs.
