Looks like former Richmond player and ex Williamstown Captain Adam Marcon is off the Aberfeldie. Huge signing this late into preseason.

Hearing this weekend might be the only round we see 3 umpires in matches in Prem, not enough numbers so most games will only have 2 - a backman's dream!

His captain of Williamstown still so must have just nominated them as a feeder club. You definitely won’t see him in Aberfielde colours this season.

Not good for the league if this is the case. Umpiring this league is difficult enough with the grounds and congested footy but now it will be a lot worse.

Imagine junior footy without umpires. Oh look out..

Spoke to a mate who umpires....

Apparently EDFL CEO spoke to umpiring group last night trying to justify why the umpires need to take a pay cut. Response was to help reduce the burden on the clubs - this might not pass the pub test given the EDFL haven’t reduced affiliation fees to any of the clubs for this season. By all accounts the meeting got quite heated.

Talk now of umpires not participating Round 1. Could be a big issue as they are already short on numbers.

Will be interesting to see where this ends up.

If what you say is correct Hawkeye, then it certainly doesn’t pass the pub test. Umpires don’t get paid enough to be forced to take a pay cut, particularly with the crap they cop. Hope it doesn’t come to that for you guys. Are you sure that you’re not an umpire though, rather than just a mate of an umpire?

Sounds like the club umpires are going to have to dust of their whistles! im hearing they are short on both Saturdays and Sundays, and this news is only going to make it worse! are the clubs that cash strapped they have to cut 2k out of their budget?

If true that’s wrong and don’t like it. Is it in line with salary cap cuts I guess but still think they are paid as they are so important to the game. Bloody EDFL

Just wondering how much clubs have to pay the EDFL to register a player eg an U18/5 player. Presume the EDFL must get a fair bit of money this way?

Strathmore let Adam Winter in there huddle. Seriously they’ve had over 12 months to fix there main problem and they roll out Good Friday with Winter. Please!

He should’ve kicked 6-7 goals. Only ended up with 1 but had plenty of shots. So what’s your problem. Sides are going to have trouble stopping winter, bollinghaus and tsialtas.

The rules state you can only be a 1 pointer an one club, which is his home club Mansfield, he can't go from Mansfield in 2019 as a 1 pointer, back to Keilor to be a 1 pointer, how many other players are like this is in the edfl, clubs already have the biggest points and salary in the state

Yea I know, I was implying the 3 years required to drop to a 1pointer

It staggers me how many people involved in local football don’t understand the points system, this is its 6th year. Browne is a 1 point player for Keilor.

Interesting none of the 6 senior teams to play have been close to the points so far!
The reduction of a point for players signed last year clearly helps!
