See my posts elsewhere on the draft board.

If we can have an exhibition game in November, then we can run some type of championships between December and January, with a late January draft.

Most clubs have first year kids on a modified program. So having kids train and play over summer in an U18 comp would be almost as good in terms of fitness.

Would then still give kids 6 weeks at a club if drafted.

Clubs would have a chance to better assess the talent pool.

Hoping the AFL still have some funding this year for the junior programs they support.
If there isn’t a national champs this year I doubt there’ll be draft.

It would be tempting to leave a list spot open for a player, there is a good chance a player will not get drafted that highly deserved to be selected.
Don't even need to wait for mid-season, leave a spot free for a supplementary pick and bring five undrafted kids on board for training over summer.

I wouldn’t say he has a defined feature of his game that demands a top 10 spot, he fits in the 10-30 range for now for me but that could change on watching some older footage but that will only get me so far until I see everyone’s development for this year.

Ford will need to fix up his quiet patches, a very hot and cold player. His best is very eye catching

I think Ford’s ‘quiet patches’ come from being a forward at the Jets: a midfield that wins about 1 out of every 15 stoppages and no one hitting him lace out. If he were an Oakleigh Charger he’d be a top 5 cert.

Well the Rolling Mock Draft is back, it may not come back for a few months but here it is anyway lol.

Also for anyone wondering about the Luke Edwards selection its my gut feel that he doesn't nominate to be a FS selection for the Crows come the end of the year but that could still change, and again i wont factor the proper bids until late in the year as per usual.

Just two things to say.

First, as long as Riley Thilthorpe is on board, he has to be the Lions first pick.

Second, there are 19 picks in next years first round, and Lions have two first round picks.

I’d be tempted to take two talls with our first two picks, so Jackson Callow would be in consideration if he’s there abouts for you.

Or Finlay Macrae. We still need to add quality to or midfield.

Wasn’t sure on that pick, still have some medium forwards like Wooller and McFadyen that don’t play so unless you guys are waiting on a decent key position forward to arrive I’m not sure that a key forward is actually what your club is looking for. Bruhn is a safe bet either way who certainly adds more quality to the midfield then again I feel your midfield brigade is strong enough as is.

I went to 18 because I wanted an even number :p They RMD will broaden out in the future but for now I’ll leave it at that haha

But, but, but..... Just No

I’m not sure Wooller will ever get a game in the firsts.

We genuinely need a ruck or a ruck forward and a genuine marking tall forward. Most importantly they need to have that natural aggression in their game.

We definitely need a number 1 key position forward.

I get the feeling Sam Skinner and Toby Wooller were likely gone at the end of the season, unless they got an extended run in the seniors due to injury, and genuinely showed they belong.

We’ve pretty much loaded up our defence in the last two trade periods, and last draft.

I’d hope Coleman jr. and Saxon Crozier come through, and fill our small forward and outside mid needs.

I'd be pretty happy with Hollands & DGB/Baldwin/Ford at the end of the year.

Whilst there isn't going to be exposed form to see some bolters rise up the ranks like most years (which potentially opens up some bargains in the middle of the draft), the top 20 prospects have been exposed to recruiters for a couple of years, they know what they are getting.

Irregardless, I reckon the AFL runs a round robbin national u/18 tournament, inclusive of TAC Cup/Northern Academy/SANFL u/18/WAFL Colts out of Melbourne for a few weeks, which then rolls into a rapid national carnival in Oct/Nov/Dec, all out of Melbourne.

This would obviously be after school finishes up.

The draft gets pushed back to January.

I like it a lot.

If we don’t get more than a month of footy than how will the draft work?

November/December is 9 months away.

The AFL is still anticipating getting the season in, even at a later date.

I think the u/18's will be no different.

If we can get 8 weeks of clean air at the end of the year, they will play 3-4 weeks of qualification games, then 3-4 weeks of representative football.

Testing/Interviews can occur in January, draft at around Australia Day.

It's obviously not a full year of exposed form, but it will be enough to see player vs player for recruiters to make some sort of informed decision.

The AFL might even enable draftee's to train with clubs during Dec/Jan, so as they can get a better look than normally possible before the draft.

It’ll work hand in hand, if there’s no season there’s no draft. But most likely they’ll somehow end up running a season, so there’ll be a draft. Running a national champs is the most important aspect of it.

Great to see people parroting similar views for the U18’s.

I know I'm taking your mock draft too seriously but if dogs do end up with pick 2 and JUH is still on the board they'd take someone else and wait on a bid

Yeah, that’s properly true. I’m very happy with DGB. Best player in the draft currently in my opinion. Granted not a great opinion.

Hard to say.

Tom Green should have been bid on no later than pick 5 this year, but didn’t go until pick 10.

Really depends which teams have the early picks. If a team needs a KPF, he should be bid on early.

It's also interesting because Baldwin and Thilthorpe are both really good KPFs who aren't tied to a club, and both have their own advantages too.
