it's probably just preseason optimism kicking in, but do we finally seem to be getting some serious class around the ball?
I think you're right. On paper at least.

I think the big question will be how long 'years' we get out of these classier kids.
If they can play 15 games; or at least a couple of 5-6 week rotations at decent intensity, we'll be OK I think.
If they're not up to that, it'll be a week for each of them to get back up to speed & touch, then a couple of weeks of good footy, then out for a week's rest, back through bendigo, and so on.
Pretty hard to get, and - just as importantly - maintain, consistency with that revolving-door selections (as we've seen over the last few years).

But I doubt they will be. Heppell, from the sounds, is pretty fit but question on size/strength, ditto Colyer & Melksham. Myers should be fit but will probably (touch wood!) get injured, ditto Jetta.

Prismall and Howlett should be good to go.

So these 'closed' sessions at Keilor, you can't even watch from a distance?

No-one will be able to report anything untill the open day in a couple of weeks?

I'm a Mildura guy and was wondering how Ariel Steinberg is travelling? His a great young fella and really impressed in the Sunraysia League as a key forward.:thumbsu::thumbsu:

I dare say you'll be one of the few DT/SC players with him in your team. I'm not sure he's ready this season, but he would pay you back in spades.

I wasn't referring to supercoach price. I meant draft price. Hopefully in the long term he will be the better player. Though I think Rohan will be very good also.

Anyone going along to watch the upcoming intra-club practice matches?

I'm unable to get to the Australia Day open training. I'm spewing as I'm missing both the cricket shindig and this will be the first training in a fair while I will have missed. Expecting many a detailed reports.
Anyone planning on attending?

Loving the rule changes for the match:

- Each player must bowl one over
- Batsman bat in pairs and face two overs.
- Teams lose three runs every time they lose a wicket and the batsmen must then swap ends.
- Essendon players can't go out first ball.
- The Victorian players must run every time they hit the ball.
- Essendon can dismiss Victorian batsman if they catch the ball one hand after one bounce.

Should be a good day. One of my friends little brother plays cricket with Hird's son and told me about one time they were watching their boys train, and a few of the Dads put the bowling machine on as fast as it could go. Went straight through the first few Dads, then Hird went in and played a few textbook strokes hitting them all on the middle of the bat. What a lad.

Didn't want to start a new thread so I thought I would just bump this one.

Zaharakis was on Matchday Saturday this weekend as was talking about how he has now fully recovered from his knee injury. However, he mentioned that there was another problem which he has to manage, causing him to occasionly miss training sessions. He is currently doing the full training program so I don't think it is too serious.

Just wondering if anyone had anymore information on his injury?

I'd say the majority of footballers who've played more than a couple of games would be constantly managing something or other.

Zaha had a groin late in 2009, I assume that was why he was rested late 2010 as well and I assume it's the same this year.
Managing workload as much as anything.
