Just look at that arrogance. McGrath is born to win. Bring him in.

His highlights look closest to McLuggage re being impressive and way above average.

I think a whole draft is fair. Brown, Hartley and the confidence to give tippa a run on the main list. Good effort

I was a little perplexed by Morgan but it's early days
Clarke, hibberd, bonner, balic, Mathieson. All were on my radar for our second round picks. All are players who will be rated against each other. As Francis will be with Oliver and Rioli will be with Gresham and fiorini.
It is as like Dodo is given access to $1,000,000 to spend on early draft picks and an extra $250,000 to spend on late picks. Dodo does particularly well on the late picks.

Would be interesting to compare his selections with those of the other list managers on the early picks.

I would think EVERY other list manager would have selected Parish and Francis at 5 and 6 last year. Joe Daniher was a give me. Heppell would have also been ranked next best available by most list managers. He had to be convinced by Bomber on draft night to take Zach Merrett.

The item most difficult to identify is up side. Maybe the player is playing injured and has a huge amount.

I reckon the players that have not gone on that Dodo has picked have all lacked consistently polished disposal skills.

In theory, you should be able to identify the players that scrap the ball forward without polish at TAC level. You only need one poor disposal at AFL level to turn a game against you and open the flood gates for the opposition.

Until the last few years I kind of had the feeling that Dodoro had a sort of "it'll take care of itself" approach to earlier draft picks, and didn't seem to put much work into making those selections carefully. Absolutely put a lot of research into later selections though.

For mine Francis was a lock for one of our picks last year, could easily become the best player from that draft. It was always a matter of who we brought in with him with the 4 candidates being Parish, Oliver (who Melbourne beat us to), Curnow and Weideman.

From memory Heppell was being talked up as a top 3 prospect in the 2010 draft and only slid because of the OP rumours before the draft.

Reckon there us far more pressure on him to deliver on the early picks this year. It could be the difference between being a top 4 side for the next 8 years compared to a 6-10 side.

Possibly, less so if this rumoured deal with GWS happens (depending on what we get out of it of course).

Brodie at 1 would be embarrassing. He has far too many deficiencies to cut it as a consistent a grader. Taranto a slight upgrade on Brodie but don't see number 1 pick with him. McGrath clearly better than both

Yes, an elite clearance mid with a big body that performs in big games would be embarrassing. It's a wonder he didn't get two shoulder injuries on Sunday, he single-handedly kept Murray in the game.

Though it is you, thanks for confirming my belief that Brodie would be the perfect fit.

Scrimshaw has some x-factor watching him yesterday I think he has some afl qualities. I don't know who I would compare him to though?

its a little tough when you can't really ping him on any.
i don't know how long he's been doing it, but ill go back 10 years.
06 - Gumbleton vs Selwood, Riewoldt. Gumby was almost the best kid coming in. We had to take him
07 - Myers v Dangerfield, Rioli. Pretty obvious you would go either over Myers at this stage. But back then, Myers was rated ahead of them.
08 - Hurley is the pick of his first rd.
09 - Melksham v D.Talia. We had Hooker, Hurley and landed Carlisle later. I think only Adelaide did the first 2 rounds better with Talia and Gunston
10 - Heppell was a steal
11 - Kav v Ross is about all i can pick out.
12 - Daniher. No other choice but to get him in the 1st rd.
13 - no 1st rd pick
14 - Langford and Laverde were in the last picks.
15 - Held out on 5 to get Francis. has to get points for that

its not a bad effort in the 1st rd.
Could have been the likes of Morton, Gysberts, McKenzie, Toumpas....

Think Brisbane would be carefully analysing go home factor, I think Brodie suits them more.
SPS goes for them and is a seriously classy midfielder, something they need badly.

He didn't single handedly keep them in the game, he had a very average second half.

He was BOG by a mile for them. If he hadn't been there Murray lose by 10 goals

Yup they've made a mistake in getting so many inside ball winners and now they're crying out for speed and class.

Better highlight package than McCluggage IMO, just doesnt hit the scoreboard

Don't think he was asked to yesterday. Like I said in previous thread I go there just before half time and McGrath's second half was a stand out....the most influential player out there. If there's anyone better than i'll be very happy.

Are your posts above meant to be genuine?!

Brodie wasn't even Murray's best player (Spargo was), let alone "BOG by a mile" or "single-handedly" responsible for keeping them in the game.
