And remember Bont had his back to him and Greene grabbed pulled scratched not once but twice and with his track record I just don’t get how he could get off without a suspension

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app
Going in for a second bite is the damning part for me. He jumped into an incident he wasnt part of, had a crack at Bont whos on the ground, looks up to see whos watching, all clear, gets stuck infor a second crack. If Bonts not hurt its a miracle and not scumbags planning thats for sure.

Yes Dal Santo no proof, he absolutely loves Greene blah blah blah. How much would pretty boy love him if he’d had studs in the face or scratches around the face

NDS is also the cousin of Marcus Bontempelli; maybe he is just being objective?

There's too much focus around here on Toby Greene and the bullies at GWS and not enough focus on our own inability stand up for ourselves and protect Bont.

We got rinsed and Greene gave us a lesson on how big games are played. It was an embarrassing performance and we can only blame ourselves.

Agree with this. And yet even with three umpires they don't see everything, such as the Greene incident. That's why video scrutiny is a good adjunct.

Old type enforcers (like Sutton, Dyer, even EJ) wouldn't last long under the current video scrutiny.

However modern players are pretty good at pushing close to the boundaries and knowing just where to stop. That's why a few physical enforcers are still necessary. For instance if Libba had been there and started hurling players around when they sat on our blokes after a free or a mark it might have started a melee, but at least it would have got the umpires realising they had a difficult game on their hands. That might have resulted in a few 50m penalties which should have been happening much earlier.
Most of the scragging happened in full view of the umpires. I would not be giving them such an easy out. They were either too gutless to make a decision or were instructed not to. The result was a team winning while playing outside the rules with the league tacitly accepting it. No wonder a player like Green feels that he can eye gouge with impunity.

Agree we were soft, but that doesn't mean Greene doesn't deserve a decent penalty for his offending - and Bont doesn't deserve to cop physical harm with no penalty just because his teammates were limp wristed.

By eye gouging?

I think everyone knows we have to be better than we were but it rubs salt into the wounds having arseholes crossing the line like this - worse if the AFL endorse it

Terry Wallace is an idiot. Says Greene hasn't got away with all the stuff he's done in the past and that Greene should be given a week if anything.

For Pete's sake. If you are found guilty and deserve a penalty, that penalty should be decided in conjunction with priors. You keep offending, the higher the penalty goes. Otherwise there's no point in penalising players as they won't change their behaviour!!

He’s got a point. I mean getting a $1500 fine for karate kicking a player in the face was fair. Perhaps had he decapitated Dahlhaus then maybe, maybe he might have got a week...overturned on appeal.

Yeah. For a guy who can't count and comes from a houso background $1500 would seem like a fortune. It's obviously deterred him as he hasn't decapitated anyone....yet.

They (he) only did it because they knew they could get away with it.

FYI I hope he gets done for 6 weeks.

I hope Bont comes out and says he was gouged show this pr??? no mercy. I am all for helping out most players by not dobbing but this guy deserves everything he gets.

I forgot about the relationship, imagine if he had come out all guns blazing about Greene, that wouldn’t have gone down well

Bont won't give a statement, surely. I hope, in fact I'm sure, the club will be on the alert for any sign of dampening or deflecting the charges. The tribunal will have all the evidence and footage, hope the public gets the opportunity to see it as well.

Bont isn't going to be there, so I assume that means evidence, whatever.

SEN PO'd. Tooter turtle sounds like he wants to sleep with the guy and to top it off he says this whole saga "makes them a real footy club" (meaning us against them mentality, etc). That statement just topped it off - turned it off. For goodness sake....... Now if it was Caaarlton, he'd be singing a different tune. Poor old Murph - can't get a word in, but I could tell he was biting his tongue.

Footage of the incident - described by Jeff Gleeson QC as "making contact with the forearm and hands to Bontempelli's head" and "the pulling of Bontempelli's hair" - is now being shown to the Tribunal.

Seems like they're not pushing the eye-gouging (if there was any)
