Port Adelaide are better off trying their luck in the National Draft (despite it being wafer thin this year) rather than pay the outrageous price Geelong are asking for Esava.

Besides he wouldn't have made an lick of difference to Port's outcome last Saturday night, they got smashed in the guts and for contested possessions etc

If Ratugolea was any good, Geelong would fight tooth and nail to keep him, but you ain't

Port & Geelong will haggle and they'll reach a deal where both clubs feel ripped off. Usually the sign of a fair trade.

If I heard correctly, the Champion Data guy on SEN was saying Zerk-Thatcher is the worst 1 on 1 defender in the game. Esava is about the 4th. How lucky is Port if it lands both?

Mckenzie is done, Clurey is small/wants out it leaves them with Allir and not a whole lot else (Is it Pasini whos also a developing tall yet to show much)

Aliir, Zerk and Ratugolea may not be world beaters (Well Allir is AA) but sydney did make a grandfinal with Tom McCartin, P.Mccartin and R.Fox and 24 months ago no one thought a whole heap of these guys either

Zerk isn’t even AFL standard. How can you even compare him to the McCartins? Anyway, just stating facts. Zerk is a forward’s dream.

Where did i compare Zerk to McCartin?

We rate Zerk differently, he avg the 3rd most best and fairest votes last year (not that we were any good)

People get carried away with the reverse coleman but theyre basically the deepest defender who plays closest to 23 games in bottom 4 sides. You just have to hope that people think, maybe its not all the actual defender

Because im pretty sure Barrass wasnt conceding 3 goals a game in 2018 and hes in his prime more now than he was then for his position. Unfortunately it doesnt seem to get through to a few ^

He also said Geelong were "done' on another thread. I reckon someone is gonna be very salty when Cats get an easier schedule (had the hardest in 2023) and don't have a buttload of injuries derailing a season. If you lose 7 games under 10 points it's very likely regression to the mean will play a factor.

If they don't try to compete now after finishing top 4 for 3 of the last 4 years with Butters, Rozee, Houston, Aliir ready to compete for the big one then they have horrible decision making people in charge.

There's glaring holes that they can fix but standing pat and not making moves this offseason says to the players, members, fans and wider media that they are content with failing and not serious about competing for Premierships. You've gotta give to get.
