What is your problem buddy? Come in here with your little snide comments, derailing the thread and acting like a tool in general, and for what? Barely anyone here has said he's worth a first. It's an opening gambit...as every club does.

Last season has nothing to do with this season. He only played the final few games because he'd been playing his trade in the VFL all year in a new role as a KPD. This year he took on that role, and received 24 coaches votes and got managed and then missed 2 games working on some things - as is pretty normal for a lot of players. Hell Jack Ginnivan couldn't crack your firsts at one stage, and Noble got dropped for the Qualifying Final. Gonna say they're not part of your best team even Noble played 95% of the year in the AFL.

You're digging the boot in for no reason, and trying to create a sh*tstorm where there isn't one. Make a mountain out of a molehill over 2 VFL games...grow up.
oi

First 'unbiased' Richmond and Hawthorn supporters, now the arse-hurt Collingwood fans after Henry walked out the door. Which 'neutrals' will grace us with their presence next? :roflv1:
The lack of West Coast fans is interesting tbh. Most of our Geelong-related shitfights on this board lately have been Geelong vs West Coast

Taking bets, reckon it will be Carlton since the lid is off and they've all come out of the woodworks.

Tying them for AFL era Premierships has cut reaaaaal deep lol
And then of course when the West Coast fans turn up somewhere, you end up with a discussion about Fremantle, which brings in the Fremantle fans, and that inevitably brings up some past trade they did with GWS or the Saints or someone, so then you get those fans coming in...

Lol ppl saying the kpd position is thin in the AFL is drinking the media cordial. It's just that a few teams have had unfortunate circumstances injuries or just poor recruiting in that area. Especially Port who for years have failed to draft them.

It's not that it's thin in general, but the available ones this year are a bit thin. You have apparently four clubs looking for KPDs and only a couple of average to mediocre ones that are out of contract.

Then we come full circle to discussions about Jordan Clark telling Wells he isn't coming back on a phone call driving across the Nullarbor

This keeps on being mentioned that we are offering 700k for him but as far as I’m aware, there hasn’t actually been a single source or article stating that Port are offering a contract worth near that amount?

There was previous references to Hawthorn potentially offering more money but nothing indicating Port were willing to get near that amount.

Can you provide something to back up your mention of Port offering a 5 year contract at 700k as I am yet to find one?
But with the rumoured contract in front of the key defender in the range of $2.5m over five years, a first-round pick is not out of the question.

If you are recruiting him to be a best 22 key defender, 500k sounds pretty right based on all the factors.

The 700k just seemed silly.

Of course, sometimes the contracts do indeed turn out to be very silly.

You think that $2.5m over 5 years should indicate a first round pick? If he went as a free agent, you'd probably be getting a third round pick.
Ahhhh please tell me how you come up with that?
Id say if he was a UFA we would be getting a pick between 25-30

2.5m over 5 year is significantly less than Hawthorn paid Amon. And it got Port a second round pick.

3 years ago, Brad Crouch on 600 to 650 over 5 years got the Crows Band 3 compensation.

So yeah, 500k a year for 5 years is not a very big contract.
